My Firefox 3.6 is setup to download anything automatically in MyDocuments (which I never use).
For security reasons, I designated a different location on my hard drive, where I keep my confidential files.
How do I change this downloading path? I tried to change it by going to "Tools-Options-Save Files To", but it does not work.

I have to install the JRE 1.4.0_01 in silent mode on Windows XP. For the JRE I can set the installation path in the corresponding dialog and record it in an *.iss file. When starting the silent installation the JRE is correctly installed into this path but the Java Webstart installation procedure doesn't care about this path and installs JWS in 'D:\Programme\Java Web Start'.

I had creative cloud for a while. Today i changed the default installing folder, from the creative cloud settings/prefferences(can't remember) menu, from C to D. Then i uninstalled all the programs from adobe cs6 to take the new cc programs. When i want to reinstall adobe creative cloud it is installing on D and since there is no operating sistem on D i can't install the creative cloud. It keeps installing on D. How can i change the default path of installation if i uninstalled creative cloud?

In order to change the default reader for PDF files (to not open PDF files with Firefox's internal PDF reader), follow these steps:
#Go to ''Tools'' > ''Options'' (or ''Firefox'' > ''Options'').
#In the Options window, select the ''Applications'' tab.
#In the ''Search'' field, type ''PDF''. You should find ''Portable Document Format (PDF)''.
#On the right handside you should find an ''Action'' column. Use that to select your favorite PDF reader. In order to view PDF files in Firefox, choose ''Preview in Firefox''.

I have Firefox 11.0 and Windows 5.1 (2007). In Firefox, I click on FILE in the Menu Bar, then OPEN FILE (Ctrl+O), and I see a small box; it says Look in: Mozilla Firefox. Below is a selection of files within the folder Mozilla Firefox. To the left is a column of four other folders: Downloads, My Computer, John, Lori. The last two are obviously two of the folders I've created on my computer, using Windows. But I don't know how they got here! I have no recollection of customizing this particular Firefox menu option by adding those folders, nor can I figure out what to do in order to further customize it. Can anyone tell me: (1) how can I change the original "Look in" option so that it opens with something other than "Mozilla Firefox" (which, after all, I never need to access)? (2) how can I add/delete/change the choices offered in the column on the left, so that different folders are listed? (Currently, if I want to access my Windows folders/files, I first have to minimize the Firefox screen; this seems to me a nice shortcut, but I'd like it to include shortcuts to the folders I use the most, which does not include "Mozilla Firefox"!) (3) Is this actually a Firefox feature, or is it a Windows feature? This sounds like a Windows thing ( You can post a photo and I can tell you for certain). Those folders are Windows system created folders that your computer has had since it was installed, all Firefox does is use the Windows File picker, which is what you see when you open that window. So, to customize you'd have to do that from Windows Explorer (not Firefox).
The Window should however remember what folder you were in last.

You cannot and need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, clicking here and picking a method for your country, and filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

I originally told a site to download with FireFox but after seeing it was opening over 2o0 tabs (it's my homework site) I decided I wanted to change the download location to Documents. How do I change the download location?

I went to www.labyrinthelab.com/oe10. This is my homework site. I clicked on download student exercise files and it asked if I wanted to open with Explorer. I said no Firefox. But it opens right around 200 files. I'm not sure of the exact amount because I stopped the download at 165.
I decided that was ridiculous and that it should download and save to my documents. I don't know how to change this.

How do I change the download behavior so that the "save as" radio button is selected by default instead of "open with" in the download window?

For most file types whose download behavior is set to "always ask" the "save as" option is selected by default in the download window. However, for a few others the "open with" option is selected instead.
Note that Firefox is not automatically opening some files instead of saving them. I still get to choose between saving or opening them, but certain file types start with "open" selected whereas for others "save" is the default.
What I'm looking for is a way to change all file types to default to "save as" in the download window.

How do I change the default path assigned by Lion?

Hi Everyone!
Out-of-the-box, in Finder, the Favorites sidebar, the path for Pictures is: Macintosh HD>Users>vbbuilt>Pictures.
Note: vbbuilt is my user name
I just bought a new external hard drive and have moved all picture files to that external drive, including the iPhoto Library.
How can I change that path to: External Hard Drive>Pictures ?
In other words, when I click on Pictures in the Finder Favorites sidebar, I want to be sent to that Pictures folder on the EHD.

This all goes back to my original problem in this forum thread.
1. I moved ALL files to an external hard drive.
2. I WANT to retain Lion's icon image representing the Pictures, Music, and Movie Folders
3. I WANT to rename Lion's default path for those original Pictures, Music, and Movie folders so that they point to their new locations on the hard drive.
4. The default Pictures, Music, and Movie Folders cannot be replaced - I tried that. The OS-X does not allow deleting the existing folder. I can place a new folder in the Favorites in the Sidebar, but the graphical representation of that folder, in the sidebar, cannot be changed. I tried that too and does not work. I can replace the image with a new graphic from the Get Info pane. But when I <option> drag n' drop that same folder into the Favorites on the Sidebar, that new substitute graphic does not show up. The default Icon for a folder is shown.
Any thoughts on how to get around all these problems?

I started to access my Charter email via Firefox. The names of attachments (Microsoft WORD, PowerPoint and .txt files) appear correctly. However, when I choose to download and save the attachment, the real name is changed to Viewattachment(n) where n is the number of the download. I am still running Windows XP, but will soon receive a new computer with Windows 7.

It's the web site that determines the default filename, either through the ''download'' attribute of the '''a''' element, or through the ''Content-Disposition'' header.
