My browser is missing: back, refresh buttons plus File, Edit, View, Tool buttons are missing.

I installed Firefox onto my computer and in doing so it removed my browser: back, Forward, Refresh buttons; also, the File, Edit, View, Tool, Help buttons are missing.

Hit the '''Alt''' key to show the Menu bar, then open View > Toolbars and select Menu bar and Navigation bar, so they have a check-mark.

Hit the '''Alt''' key to temporarily show the Menu bar, then open View > Toolbars and select Menu bar, so it has a check-mark. <br />
The F10 can also be used on most PC's to temporarily reveal the Menu bar.

    * In Firefox 3.6 and later on Windows you can hide the "Menu Bar" via "View > Toolbars" or via the right-click context menu on a toolbar.
    * Press F10 or press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.
    * Go to "View > Toolbars" or right-click the "Menu Bar" or press Alt+V T to select which toolbars to show or hide (click on an entry to toggle the state).

It had a tool bar at the top with File, Edit, View, History, bookmarks, etc.
Right-click an empty area of the tab bar and check "Menu Bar".
Your bookmarks are accessible from the Bookmarks button on the navigation toolbar. It's the wide button on the right side of the address bar with a star to its left.
Your history is accessible from the History button under the ≡ Menu Button panel. You can right-click an empty area of the tab bar and choose Customize, then drag the History button onto the navigation toolbar if you like (that's the area with the Back/Forward buttons and the address bar).
If you'd like to completely revert Firefox's appearance, install the Classic Theme Restorer add-on and restart Firefox when prompted.

  • How do I get back the File Edit View History Bookmarks Yahoo! Tools Help that used to be at the top of the browser window above the taps

how do I get back the "File Edit View History Bookmarks Yahoo! Tools Help" line of text that I could click on for options that used to be at the top of the browser window above the taps

I did that (I think I did) however the confusion is that I get only part of the menu and not the most important menu items like "file" "edit" etc. with all the drop downs. It is so freaky - my other computers have no problem like this and I and show the menu bar or not just like you described. I really doubt anyone really understands my problem with it. I took some screen shots of the good computer version and the bad one so someone can "see" exactly what I am seeing. This may be a one of a kind gremlin issue, LOL. Anyway, without those menu items, I am very limited on the usefulness of FireFox on that computer so I have to rely more on Chrome for those features and use the FireFox with Billeo and other tools that still work. Someday it may magically fix itself, LOL.
Of the two images, one is the good computer and the other is the bad. The bad one shows the only way to see the menu items however they disappear after I am done with the custom menu and no other time can I get the items to "appear" it is like they are there but cannot get them to show when in the normal menu bar mode.

    Welcome Joe -
    PC or Mac?
Back and forward buttons on a window listng the files in it, will only work if you open a file within the folder.
If you simply open your folder, there nothing to go "back" to.
