my brush tool erases pixels when used on layer mask instead of blocking out segments
Is the double frame around the Mask in the Layers panel?
Are you painting with black?
Is the Mode set to Normal in the Brush Options bar?
If your answer to these 3 questions is Yes, a logical next step would be to reset your Preferences.
To reset Preferences:
If Photoshop is already open on your screen, close it (Quit). Then hold down Shift+Ctrl+Alt (Win) / Shift+Command+Option (Mac) on your keyboard and start Photoshop.
A dialog box will pop up asking if you want to delete the existing Preferences file (the "Settings"). Click Yes in the dialog box. The existing Preferences file will be scrapped and a new one will be created.

Elements 11 - Brush tool not working when using layer mask
My brush tool won't work when using layer mask in PS Elements 11. I also have Elements version 10 installed and there it works fine. If I do the exact same proces in version 11 nothing happens.
Is this a bug or has something changed in the proces?

lightroom 5 on mac osx 10.9.2 keeps crashing, seem to be when using my mask brush tool but I'm using it a lot so I'm not sure its the cause or what

All 3 of my books transferred over without my having had to do anything at all. If you're worried about retaining books, you could try moving your ADE 4 to an external drive & confirming that your books are also there. I believe that the book information is saved elsewhere (separately from the ADE) and it should simply transfer over, but since I only had three books, all library items, I didn't have much to lose. All I can speak from is my own experience. I had to get rid of ADE 4 in order to successfully install ADE 2.0.

Can anybody say why In the layer menu, the background color is white when opening a layer mask, and why does it automatically turns black by simply opening the layer mask properties menu? The vector mask is white anyway.

Why is my brush tool slicing through when I overlap a stroke?
When I use my brush tool, I go and try to do some cool designs with it, but it wont let me overlap a stroke without "Slicing" through the stroke. Please help:( Here's an example Gyazo - d769be8e1cbaa1bb5e391bd8c5ed52b9.png

Brush tool automatically jumps when near window edge
Our company is migrating from CS1 to CS3 (finally!). We found a curious issue with the brush tool in Photoshop: in CS1, when you click near the edge of your open file window, it just draws to that point - and stops. That's it. In CS3, when you click near the edge of your open file window, it automatically jumps out / scrolls the window in the direction in which your line is traveling. Is there a way to disable this function?
Have the same problem. Happens with erasure tool as well.
Get near the edge and it jumps/scrolls quickly to the edge of the window/bounding box/canvas. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING and stupid idea.
How does one disable this function or reset the tolerance, whatever? If you do know please reply to this forum.

AIM icon in dock pixelated when using iChat?
I use iChat instead of AIM for its ease of use and design. However, the little AIM icon "running guy" in my dock gets pixelated when I drag my mouse over it. I have my dock magnification on.
No other program does this except AIM. The iChat icon is fine and magnifies perfectly, it's just the little running guy. The image is of poor quality I guess but it's weird that it's only that icon.
Anyone who why other than it's a low quality image?
Macbook, iMac Mac OS X (10.4.7)AIM (not iChatAV) hasn't been updated for quite awhile. I'm not sure if that is the issue, but may be related.
iChatAV is the preferred messagner application and the most recent updated. -
Eraser tool doesn't work for black layer mask
I am trying to set a black layer mask and use the eraser tool to edit it. Unfortunately the eraser tool is not responsive. I'm not knowingly doing anything differently than I've done in the past. I recently did a round of software updates for CS6. Wondering if anyone else is experienceing this and if there's a solution?
Check that foreground color in the toolbox is set to black. (opposite from when using the brush tool)
Press D and then the X key.
And that opacity and flow are 100%.
Most people use the brush tool on layer masks and you might find that works better. -
Justification property is not working when using a format mask
Hi all,
I have a text item with number data type and right to left reading order,
I put the justification property to right.
I used a format mask to set two decimal places for the entered number.
The problem is the justification property is not aligning right, I noticed that it's aligning right only if i removed the format mask or changed the reading order to (left to right).
I hope there is a solution for this
ThanksFormat mask and justification will not work for Non english character sets.
To support bidirectional languages such as Arabic, do not use Left or
Right justification (numeric text items can use Right justification). Use
Start and End instead.

Why are my images being pixelated when using free transform?
HI.
I am pretty comfortbale with PS but stil learning more of the finer details. I can't find an answer for this on any help topics or threads.
I often bring several images into a document or workflow and it seems that when I reduce an image that's too big for the canvas, it looses it's quality as soon as I break out the transform tool and becomes very pixelated. Any thoughts?

I've tried to reproduce the problem in different ways before replying here and think I've narrowed it down a bit. It seems that when I use the File->Place way to insert an image into an existing document, I don't run into this pixelation or image degredation issue. It's only when I drag an image from one document to another using tabbed document introduced in CS4 (I'm using CS5 btw).
If I have document 1 open and drag an image (or layer) from document 2 into document 1, then resize that image in document 1, I get a loss of quality. Not sure if that helps anyone else. Also not sure why this is hapenning as the ability to drag layers back and forth is pretty handy and I'd rather not give it up. -
Green pixels when using 'send to adobe SpeedGrade'
For the first time we are using Adobe SpeedGrade to finalize the video. However when we send the video file from Adobe Premiere Pro to SpeedGrade there appears green pixels on the highlited parts of faces. See for example this screengrab.
When you open the image you can see on the lips of the person in the middle what I mean. This is the case in several clips but not all of them.
This is footage from a Canon 550D, edited in premiere pro using the AVID DNxHD codec. Some clips are stabilized in After Effects using the dynamic link option. There seems to be a connection with this but some clips don't have it after doing this process again.
In Premiere Pro the footage seems to be without any problems.
Can someone help me to point me in the right direction where we could find the sollution.Hi,

Can you try to export to a different format (i.e DPX instead of PNG) ?

Sd card erased itself when using the windows 7 partition on bootcamp
I just recently set up bootcamp to benefit from some of the features on Windows 7. I followed the procedure and installed the WindowsSupport folder (part of the bootcamp process on an SD card - which was loaded with loads of other files).
I noticed a tricky part of the installation when the Windows 7 disc started to install in that Windows wouldn't install on the bootcamp partition because it wasn't NTFS format. I chose the option to convert the drive to NTFS and the installation completed fine.
I then opened the WindowsSupport folder that I had chosen to have installed on the SD card which contained the bootcamp software and drivers and started the 'setup' process which all looked to be going fine. Next thing I find is that the SD card is blanked and the bootcamp install software reported that it couldn't find the required .msi file.
The reason for this was that the SD card appeared blank. I then selected the option to scan and fix problems which didn't work and just hanged (so I cancelled it).
I am now faced with an SD card with some important data on it that is not recognised (not even registering as there) when put into the SD slot on MAC OSX Mountain Lion and when insterted on the Windows side it just says that it needs formatting (which I haven't done) in order to be usable.
THis all leaves me with a few questions if anyone can help:
1, Can I recover the files on the SD Card & if so, how do I do this when OSX doesn't even recognise the SD card anymore?
2, In my pursuit to complete bootcamp installation, if I were to install the windows support files again from the OSX partiiton, how do I prevent the files from being deleted again? i need to do this to complete the Windows 7 installation as I currently have only the very basic functions with no drivers etc.
3, I previously had an old Macbook Pro running Mountain Lion & Windows Vista and could leave the SD card in the drive and use files on both operating system. As Windows 7 is using NTFS, does this mean I risk having the SD card data deleted everytime I access something from the WIndows 7 side?
Any help would be much appreciated.

The card must be formatted as FAT32, I would invest $10 in a USB thumb drive, it's cheap.
And I would read the Directions before doing anything else! -
Error Stating "Not enough source pixels" when using content aware fill
I am trying to use content aware fill on a JPG photo. Am getting an error saying that I do not have enough source pixels. What am I doing wrong?
R_Kelly, Sorry I am late in getting back with you, have been out of town on business. I think I found out what I was doing wrong. I created a duplicte background layer and had not check off sample both layers. Corrected this and my problem has gone away.

I realise I sound a bit stupid here now but how exactly do I 'click' 'open in low res' - after right clicking to get info I can't see and option to open pshop in low res.

I am getting a weird green line at the bottom of my screen...
I am trying to burn a DVD in iDVD. I keep getting a green line at the bottom of the screen. I tried "squaring" the pixels before outputting the project, but I didn't render the project this way in FCP before trying that. Could that be the problem? I
