External-graphic not shown in PDF with Tomcat / Cocoon / Ubuntu

this weekend I set up a virtualbox with Ubuntu 8.04 OS; APEX 3.12 @ Oracle 10gXE; Tomcat 6.014; Cocoon 2.1.11; fop_post sitemap file according to Carl Backstrom blogpost ([http://carlback.blogspot.com/2007/03/apex-cocoon-pdf-and-more.html]); to experiment with APEX & PDF printing.
Tomcat is configured to listen to port 8888; APEX to 8080.
I have setup APEX according to Carl's blogpost. All is working fine; I can generate PDF reports using the standard templates. I'm new to XSL, but decided to go wild. I decided to include a JPG graphic.
I followed the example in Scott & Spendolini, Pro Oracle Application Express, page 399. However the image is not shown in the PDF, nor is there an error message produced. What is wrong?

Your code looks fine to me. Although xsl-fo is not very friendly for a slight change...
This is an example I use during my PDF printing presentation:

I've sometimes seen problems displaying certain pictures or specifying the width.

Why graphics not shown?

I am runinng a programe in Forte. The code has graphics(gif) located in the same directory as the class file and refered in the code with just the graphic name. The graphics are not shown when the code is excured.
I have set the classpath with ".", but it does not help. Do I have to code a hard path for the graphics?

Safari is not working. Many (not all) graphics not shown, won't play video, says Flash is missing, will not respond to login or query submissions. Firefox seems OK. Help?

This seemed to happen as I was working today. Pages are not fully loading (spinning wheel on tab never stops) and most graphics don't show. Videos are not playing and game sites say I need Adobe Flash. I tried downloading Flash, but that just didn't happen either. At the same time Firefox seems fine, including loading the same games, playing video, logging in and queries.
It seems like a bug, but ProtectMac Antivirus has screened several times today with no threats found. (Also says its software is up to date as of today.)
I don't want to remove Flash if its really installed and working.
Should I uninstall and reinstall Safari?

If you want to have a/v software installed on a Mac either ClamXav or Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac Edition are far more compatible with Apple native applications such as Safari and both are free.
Then try troubleshooting Flash. The plugin you have installed now may be corrupted.
Uninstall then reinstall a new Flash plugin > Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
Very important to uninstall the currently installed plugin first.
Now relaunch Safari. From the Safari menu bar top of your screen click Safari > Empty Cache
Now try a video and see if pages load as they should.
And go to:   HD/Library/Internet-Plug-Ins
If you have ClickToFlash installed, that can prevent Flash content from loading.
And check to see if Safari is running in 32 bit mode. Right or control click the Safari icon in your Applications folder then click Get Info.
If the box next to: Open in 32 bit mode is selected, deselect, quit then relaunch Safari.
And check to make sure there's enough free space on the startup disk.   Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop.
Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.

HP Envy 15 Graphics Problem with Windows 8.1 (Intel and NVidia Graphics). Help!

I bought an HP ENVY TouchSmart 15-j013ea about 6 months ago and I have had a major problem with the graphics that I cannot seem to solve. I think it started when I updated to Windows 8.1, even though I am not 100% certain.
I have noticed the following three problems, and I think they are related:
Some windows (such as Chrome, Skype, or even Device Manager or other windows) are very blurry compared to others.
The firefox menu window has some deformed black arrows instead of the normal ones.
When playing a game (specifically, Star Wars the Force Unleashed 2), after a while I get an error that the computer has ran out of memory. However, according to task manager, only about 50% is in use, not to mention that I have 8 GB of RAM + 2 GB graphics memory. At the same time, the computer gets rather loud (like a fan working overtime) and hot.
The laptop has both Intel and NVidia graphics, and both are enabled in Device Manager. To be honest, I have no idea which is used when, or how to check that (let me know if there is a way)
I have tried the following without success:
Uninstalling the Intel graphics driver from device manager and installing a version I downloaded from the HP website for my laptop and OS. After that, Windows would NOT BOOT, and I had to do a system restore.
Uninstalling the Intel graphics from Programs and Features, and installing 2 different versions from the Intel website. Nothing changed.
Updating Nvidia driver through GeForce Experience. Nothing changed.
Updating Intel drivers from Windows Update. Nothing changed.
Quite frankly I am not sure what the problem could be, since the graphics versions are supposed to be compatible with WIndows 8.1. I also don't get why some windows are blurry and others are not. I am thinking the computer uses only the Intel graphics and not the Nvidia (at least in the blurry windows), but even if that was the case (and it shouldn't be), I don't think I should be having this problem.
At this point, I really need help. My graphics details are:
Intel HD Graphics 4600: Driver version: 10.18.10.3412
NVidia GeForce GT 740M: Driver version: 335.23
NVidia GeForce Experience version: 1.8.2
I am attaching screenshots that show driver details and the problems.

I had a similar problem with a Dell laptop. I found the problem was the laptop wanted to switch between the Intel and NYIDIA video cards. It would switch to the Intel when high graphics was not required then to the NIVIDIA when high graphics was required. The laptop does this to save power when high graphics is not required but it caused problems with some applications, specifically high graphics games.
For me the solution was to disable the Intel graphics processor. You can do this by right clicking on your Wallpaper, select the NIVIDIA Control Panel, then select Set Physx Configuration. You will see a dropdown box labeled Select Physx Processor. It is set to Auto by default. This allows the switching I described. Select this dropdown box and select your NIVIDIA processor. This will prevent the laptop from switching and force it to use your NVIDIA processor exclusively.

Graphics display problem after upgrade of HTML DB from 1.5 to 1.6

I recently installed HTML DB version 1.5 from Companion CD and tested and everything seemed to work. I immediatley applied the 1.6 version upgrade but now no graphics are shown on the HTML DB ADMIN page. I checked the files from the upgrade $ORACLE_HOME/Patch/htmldb/images and the $ORACLE_HOME/CCD/marvel/images and verified the Alias in $ORACLE_HOME/CCD/Apache/modplsql/conf/marvel.conf. Do I need to look elsewhere for the images?

If that's the case then they made a mistake. If there's not a specific forum for HTMLDB, you could try one of the database groups because I think it ships with the database.

Removal of Vodafone graphic on power up and down 5...

I have 5800 xpressmusic which was originally supplied aqs a Vodafone upgrade but never used. In it's unlocked state I have begun using it on O2 (in UK) and it works just fine.
When the phone is powered up or down, after the Nokia logo graphic displays, a Vodafone graphic is shown. This sin't causing me problems as such, but I'd like to get rid of it.
Any ideas how people?

truly only voda can help you with this in legitimate ways. your phone maybe unlocked to any provider but the phone is still branded. did you try installing/reinstalling the most up to date firmware update? perhaps that could be the only way you could do this and not void warranty. there are other ways but those can't be discussed here on the boards. if you chose to install most up to date firmware just make sure you do a back up of all your stuff as you might lose all your data.

Os x doesn't print all web graphics

hi,
i often need to send web pages as pdf so the clients can see them properly, but not all graphics are shown and background images are missing.
example: if you get a print preview of this page, you'll see a lot of things missing. it's the same in safari and firefox.
any ideas how to fix that, apart from making a screenshot?

I'm not certain about other browsers, but in Safari (2.0.4) when you go into the Print dialog open the Copies & Pages list. Choose Safari, put a check in the box to Print backgrounds. Firefox (2.0.0.4) has even more settings to pick from.
Most of the "frills" don't print by default in order to minimize print time & ink consumption.

Graphics within F1 help

Hi all,
has anyone an idea how to insert a graphic into my F1-help.
It seems that F1 processor has some problems with it because if I print my dokument the graphic is shown correctly only within performance assistant (or modal f1 window) the graphic is not shown.
Any help is highly welcomed!

You have something called the AWT Event Thread. This is what does all windowing events. If you press a button, the ActionListener is ran in this thread. If you paint the screen, it too is done in this thread.
Now you are adding delays in the paint method (from the sounds of it), so you send the current thread (which is the AWT event thread) to sleep. Now you application can no longer do anything GUI (hear mouse clicks, repaint other components) while this thread is asleep.
This is why you are having the problems you are having.
To fix it you need a datamodel. The circles represent something I would guess, so don't paint circles. Paint Thingies (which are represented by circles).
The paint method has to be changed so instead of handing the loop, it looks at the data model to see how many Thingies it has to draw, and where.
You the use a different loop (either main(), or a TimerTask) to add the Thingies into the datamodel, and call repaint.

Satellite L300-1AM PSLBGE - Cannot install the graphic card driver

I have a big problem with my notebook concerning the video driver.
Yesterday i've booted my windows and put Windows Vista on it.
I've taken all the drivers from toshiba site but i've encountered a problem regarding the graphic driver.
When enter setup it starts and them it gives me an error "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software. Setup will exit". Need to say that before the boot i had Vista also and it worked.
So can you please help me because i don`t know what do to..

I can not understand this.
The unit supports the Intel GL40 graphic chipset.
The Intel driver from the Toshiba page should be ok
In readme.txt file you can find exact the same info which has been posted by Paolo30.
1. Click "Start" then right click on "Computer" button and then choose Manage.
2. Permit the User Account Control to run by selecting the "continue" button. When the Computer Management window opens select the "device manager" icon. (NOTE: IF UPDATING DRIVER GO TO STEP 3B)
3a. Double click "Video Controller (VGA Compatible)". (Go To STEP 4)
3b. Select "Display adapters" then Double click on the graphics controller
shown.
4. Click on "driver" tab and select "Update Driver".
5. Select the following option: "Browse my computer for driver software".
6. Select the following option: "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer".
7. Click on the "Have Disk..." button and then the "Browse" button.
8. Enter the directory where you unzipped the file you downloaded, and then enter the "Graphics" subdirectory. Locate and highlight the "igdlh.INF" (if 32-bit) or "igdlh64.INF" (if 64-bit). Click on the "Open" button.
9. Click on the "OK" button. A window listing all of the available display types should open. Select the display adapter that your system contains and then click on the "Next" button.
10. Click on the "Next" button. The operating system will install the driver. Click on the "Finish" button when done.
11. Click on the "Close" button and then click on the "Yes" button to reboot. The driver should now be loaded.

Layers, Data Graphic and Visibility

I am creating detailed rack diagrams for my organization. We (read they) prefer to have the Rack itself on a layer and toggle between front and rear views. My problem is I am have linked the front and rear server shapes to the same Excel data, so when i
enable Data Graphics botht he front and rear Data Graphics overlay themselves.
Unfortunately all the Data Graphics by default appear on the same "Data Graphics" layer. My question is, can I somehow assign the Data Graphics for the front and rear views to different layers that i can toggle on and off? If
that is not possible would anyone have a suggestion how enable a toggle visibility function?
As another thought is it possible to "link" two shapes together so that only one Data Graphic is shown for the pair?

unfortunately datagraphics is a single layer and cannot be split. DataGraphics gets it's data from the shape data (custom properties) of the shapesheet, so it is possible to link multiple records to different shapes and end up with a 'common' set of data
descriptors. The caveat is 'data bloat' where the amount to information your linking/embedding can change the size of document.

Ofc both of them are MSI. This MB has integrated intel card which is working fine. After this radeon is added POST never pass, and picture is never displayed. I can't hear one beep which mean OK
When I remove radeon all working fine like always does before. Tried with different graphics and everything is ok, which means that PCI-E port is ok. Also I updated MB BIOS to last version which I found at download section for that MB. Tried with 3 different PSU which last is 650W.
Processor is Intel E6500 2.9Ghz if that even matter.
This is full name for GK model:
R7950 TF 3GD5/OC BE
Core/Memory
880MHz Core (Boost Clock: 960MHz)
3072MB GDDR5 5000MHz Memory
Any help/suggestions ?

The motherboard PCI-E slot is v1.0
The graphics card is PCI-E 3.0
Most of the AMD PCI-E 3.0 graphic cards have backward compatibility issues.
On older motherboards I always recommend Nvidia graphic cards.

Moving graphics problem

I have this problem with both InDesign and PrintExplosion. I can place graphics on a page, but I cannot grab them and move them with the mouse. I have to use the arrow keys. This is painfully slow and awkward. OS 10.6.8

so last placed item is on the top.
What if they were rearranged after placement?
To keep pageItem's real 3D location you have to iterate through doc layers
and move graphic.parents in backward order:
