My buttom Auto Brightness is gone - iphone 5 ios6.1

my buttom Auto Brightness is gone - iphone 5 ios6.1
how to fix ?

Im not sure what you mean restore but not fix. I would suggest you set your iPhone up as new, you will loose all your information. Then sync contacts and add your apps back that way you will get rid of any corruption from previous backups. If that fails a DFU restore might be needed.

  • The auto-brightness of my iPhone is not working, and my system is really unstable. What is Apple going to do about those bugs?

I would like to know when Apple will fix these terrible bugs of the last software updates. My phone isn't working properly. I'm considering the idea of getting another smartphone...

If your system is unstable, you should consider restoring your device through itunes to get a fresh version of the operating system.
If your auto-brightness isn't working, it's possible that there is an issue with your phone's ambient light sensor which is hardware and not affected by an iOS update
Are you using a case? if so, it's possible that you're using one that was made for an iPhone 4 instead of a 4S which has an ambient light sensor that is a few millimeters to the left, so some iPhone 4 cases could cover it slightly, causing the ambient light sensor to not work as affectively

  • Auto brightness- press settings - brightness

No auto brightness, pressing settings - brightness & wallpaper there is a brightness scroll bar but the box underneath saying auto brightness has gone. It was there before!!!
The box was there after updates.

The level you set in automatic brightness is the minimum level the display will go to when the phone is turned on, assuming you are in total darkness.
It will then auto adjust UPWARDS ONLY when you go into brighter environments, however the amount of adjustment is limited, so if you want to be able to achieve maximum brightness in bright sunlight, you would need to set the level fairly high to begin with.
It will not adjust downwards if you then go into a dark environment, at least in my experience. Others have said it does after a minute or so, but if I switch on my phone in he middle of the night or in a cinema etc. I don't wait a minute to see if it will dim, I do it manually.

  • Auto-Brightness feature

Little confused…what actually is the Auto-Brightness feature.
Is it supposed to adjust the screen to current light brightness.
And what is the slide bar far and does it have an effect on the
    Auto-Brightness feature

    Hi clothingguy,
+Set whether iPhone adjusts screen brightness automatically: Choose Brightness+
+and turn Auto-Brightness on or off. If Auto-Brightness is on, iPhone adjusts the screen+
+brightness for current light conditions using the built-in ambient light sensor.+
From page 103 of the iPhone User Guide http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/iPhoneUserGuide.pdf
The slider adjusts the current screen brightness.

  • IPhone display auto brightness

brightness does not function properly on the new iPhone4 sometimes it's dim and I can't see the screen during the day and I need to powered off and re start the system in order for to work properly I've had to do this twice in the four days that I've had my new iPhone4
I have always used  the AUTO LIGHT CONTROL feature for the screen displayed on my old iPhone 3GS and it does save the battery I never used
manual setting and I kept in the normal position and it never worked like this it always works properly maybe a bit slow but this one the screen is stuck in the light position sometimes that is dark and I haven't even been in the dark it's either a software issue or maybe somethings wrong with the sensor on the new iPhone if this is a common

Do you use a case, screen protector?
Maybe it is blocking the Ambient Light Sensor.
Set whether iPhone adjusts screen Go to Settings > Brightness and turn Auto-Brightness on or off. If Auto- brightness automatically Brightness is on, iPhone adjusts the screen brightness for current light
conditions using the built-in ambient light sensor.

  • Auto brightness not working on iPhone 5?

On the iPhone 5 - In the settings, when flicking the auto brightness on/off the screen shows no change in brightness - whether in a completely dark room or with the lights on etc. My iPhone 4 has been updated to IOS6 and seems to be working normally (brightness auto adjusts in all situations).
Anyone else have this problem of the auto brightness not working?

There is nothing wrong with the auto brightness.
When you have auto brightness enabled the slider works as the minimum brightness setting with auto brightness.
If you have the slider too high the brightness cant reduce because youre not letting it.
Set your brightness at about 25% and you'll see what I mean.

  • My brightness on my iPhone 4S is turning itself low but auto brightness is off

Well my phone has been acting weird since last night, I was playing minion rush and all of a sudden it turned pitch black! So I charged it for a while and it would turn back on, then I realized that the iPhone can boost it up by pressing the home button and power button, so I did that, the logo appeared still no difference then I realized I can see the screen with a bit of lighting on it. So I turned the brightness up and it worked but it was weird because the brightness was at 50% like always! And I tried turning auto brightness off and on to see if the screen changes brightness like it normally does, and it didn't! So I'm guessing there's some sort of bug on the phone? What's going on? Please help!
Ps I dropped my phone in water like 2-3 weeks ago but made sure that all the water came out I put my phone in the sub for a while so all the water will vaporize and put my phone in ride so all the water will come out. But my step mom dropped hers in the toilet a year ago and to this day the phone has no problem! It works fine!

If there is no protective film attached to the screen that could cover the sensors on top of it, my guess would be a "waterbug".
To make sure this is not software related, set it up as new device without using the latest backup. If still no luck, get it serviced because the water damaged your device.

  • Iphone 4s ios 8.1.2 auto brightness auto dim in bright place

    Hi,
my iphone 4s with ios 8.1.2 got auto brightness problem.
when i turn on the auto brightness function, it will automatic go to minimum brightness. i try under sunlight also get same result. may i know how to solve? thank you

    Hello there hebe2003,
It sounds like your Ambient Light Sensor keeps automatically dimming the screen when you have that function turned on, no matter the light conditions. I would recommend these troubleshooting steps from the following article, named:
Get help with the screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If you have a screen protector, try removing it. Try removing your case if it includes a screen protector.
If you see the issue in multiple apps, restart your device.
If restarting doesn’t fix the issue, restore your device.
If you still see the issue after you restore, contact Apple Support.

  • IPhone 5 with iOS 8 - Auto Brightness too dim / dark

    Hi all,
I just updated my iPhone 5 to iOS 8 and the auto brightness makes the screen too dark and hard to read.  This was not an issue with iOS 7 on my phone.  I've tried using some of the calibration tips online, but none seem to help.
When I am outside, it's fine, it will automatically adjust the brightness all the way up.  The issue is inside, then the auto-brightness will make the screen too dim to be able read very well.
I know I could turn off the auto brightness feature and manually adjust the brightness, but I really liked the feature with iOS 6 and iOS 7.
Is anyone else having this issue?  Any tricks I could do to fix this, or is this just an issue with iOS 8 on iPhone 5s?  It would be nice if Apple gave us more control with auto brightness, like maybe letting us set the min and max brightness when it is on auto.
I did see this post from jedi31780 where his iOS 8 auto brightness isn't adjusting at all, but other than that, I haven't see any other posts online about this yet.
    iOS 8 Brightness
    Thanks

Thanks!  I went into settings under brightness when I was in a room where I felt the iPhone was too dim and I moved the brightness up till I was happy with it. it now uses that as a baseline and adjusts from there instead of where it was before, so no longer too dim. I thought I already tried that before, but either I adjusted it again to thy the calibration steps, or maybe I adjusted it from the "control center" screen and maybe that one doesn't save.
Either way, all is good now. Thanks for the tip!

  • Brightness slider on iphone 5 doesn't work (NOT auto-brightness)

With Auto brightness switched off, sliding the brightness bar from left to right brings little or no change in the brightness of the screen. The screen is always in highest brightness. IT flickers sometimes to a lower brightness but strangly if I shake the phone or tap the brightness changes and comes back to very bright.
Not seen anyone raise this issue. I think there is a hardware defect with gyro someway afffecting the level of brighntness. I could be wrong. Has anyone else seen this issue before ?

I turned to the service provider, they did everything they could. I inserted my simkarty in another Iphone 5 and everything worked well. Today I changed the operator and the problem remained. All operators in our city supports 3G and my previous Iphone 5 worked in the network. Maybe the problem is with the defective module 3G?!

  • My iPhone 4S keeps changing/ resetting the brightness to a very low level and I have turned off the Auto brightness button and restarted for weeks.

My iPhone 4S keeping changing the brightness on its own and I have already turned off the auto brightness etc and restarted multiple times for several weeks.  I can't see the screen to answer calls etc . Really annoying

Is the battery drained after it shuts itself off?
Did you already try to set it up as new device?

Why does my iPhone arbitrarily brighten, to the point of decreased resolution, despite my having turned off auto-brightness and setting the brightness to maximum?

    Could be a hardware failure.
Restore the iPhone, first from a backup, then as new, and see if the issue persists. If it persists when you restore as new, then there's a hardware issue with your phone and you need to bring it to an Apple store to be evaluated.

  • Auto-brightness switch has disappeared?

So...this is kind of weird. I went into the Wallpapers & Brightness settings to adjust the brightness of my screen and there's no auto-brightness switch. I actually really like the auto-brightness. Constantly adjusting it manually is kind of a pain -- especially if I'm running and my phone is in my armband.
I tried resetting the settings and I just restored my phone. The switch is still gone.
Has anyone else enountered this? Is there something obvious I'm missing? That switch should be there, right?
    I have an iPhone 5.
    Thanks in advance...

    Hello Geoffery Stone,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
I want to recommend backing up your phone to iTunes and restore the device, but this time, rather than restoring from a backup, setup the phone as new and see if the switch is there.
iOS: How to back up and restore your content
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
If it is, then restore from your backup. If the switch goes away, then either an app, or a setting is removing it.
If it is a setting, then resetting all your settins should fix it:
Reset iPhone settings. Go to Settings > General > Reset, then choose an option:
Reset All Settings:  All your preferences and settings are reset.

  • Auto brightness not working -new screen protector or 4.0.2  to blame?

    Hi there,
I recently bought a couple of new cases for my ipod touch (latest gen 64gb.
They both came with a 'free' screen protector, one of which I have applied, can't recall which case it came with though. (and I'm not sure that matters anyway?)
Since I applied the new screen protector I don't seem to have auto brightness any more.It is there, in the settings screen. But it doesn't seem to be working.
I've tried switching it (the setting) on and off, turning the ipod off.
I applied the protector around the same time that I updated to 4.0.2 (8A400) - I may have done the update. I 'think' I udated the unit the day before but I cannot really recall. I don't remember on what day I did which change so can't say what is causing this error.
Is anyone else getting auto brightness errors after going up to 4.0.2?
Is this kind of issue common with some screen protectors?
New ipod user - never had an apple anything before this - had it about 2 months.
    Suggestions are GO

This morning, I updated to iOS4.0.2. I went to sleep with Pandora on (I work midnight shift) and when I awoke, I switched to mail and lost the music. Verified it wouldn't stay on and proceeded to do a hard reset (held down on/off switch and home button simultaneously well over ten seconds (( apple came on and then went blank/off again ))). Turned my iPhone 3GS on again and problem was gone. Hope this helps you too.
