hi there smallworld100,
could you provide the community with a little more info to help narrow troubleshooting? Mainly your printer model but things like your operating system as well will help out a lot.

  • Satellite L100-130: Sound every time when start the computer

    I have got a Toshiba Satellite L100-130 (my first notebook and my first experience with Windows XP). When I start my computer I hear the Microsoft Windows XP Sound, but after that I have to manually adjust the sound volume, because it is set at 0 every time I started up my notebook.
    I wanted to know if this is normal with Windows XP/notebooks or there is something wrong with... anything...

    Hi
    As far as I know the L100 has no volume switch at the notebook side. Am I right?
    Therefore the software application is responsible for the volume control.
    Like Jeffrey has written in the post above you should check the sound volume controls in the sound and audio devices.
    There you will find many controls. Check if all are set to the higher level.
    But if it doesnt change the sound volume settings so I assume its a default setting and you have to increases the sound volume if you start the Media Player.

  • Clicking sound every time using extermal mouse or touchpad

    SatelliteP770-PSBY3U-03L01Q As mentioned above, there is a loud(depending on speaker vol) clicking sound whenever the mouse or touchpad button is pushed that causes the computer to perform an operation. This is very annoying as it does it all the time, if the sound is on. Makes listening to music, playing games, and just working with the computer a pain in the ----. The noise sounds like relays opening/closing!!
    ANY IDEAS other than not using the sound??
    Solved!

    One of my favorites. I have it set to qclick.wav.
    Open Sound in Control Panel. In the Program Events box on the Sounds tab, locate the Start Navigation event, which is under Windows Explorer. Set the sound to (None) as shown.

  • My printer makes a loud dinging sound every 5 seconds.

    I have no error messages and it prints perfectly.  I have restarted the printer and computer.  I have unplugged the printer but can't get it to stop dinging.

  • Why does firefox keep asking for permission every time it starts, it never has before?

    I'm using Windows 7 and recently used CCleaner to clean my registry and now Firefox asks for permission to make changes to my computer every time it starts. I have checked for viruses and malware, tried running Firefox as the administrator, removed all but one of my add-ons but nothing helps. Any suggestions?

    Check that you do not run Firefox as Administrator.<br />
    Right-click the Firefox desktop shortcut and choose "Properties".<br />
    In the Compatibility tab, make sure that Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" is not selected.<br />
    You also need to check the Properties of the firefox.exe program in the Firefox program directory.<br />
    If you can't make the changes then you need to start Windows Explorer as Administrator.<br />

  • My MBA w/SSD makes click-click sounds every 6 secs ?

    I've read the post that describes ticking sounds that people are reporting on presumably MBAs w/HDD. That post seems to imply the ticking sounds come from the HDD. After reading that post and prior to receiving my MBA w/SSD today I thought I would not be plagued by the ticking sounds.
    However, I find that my MBA w/SSD is now making click-click sounds every 6 secs with about 1 sec between the click-click all the time.
    Do others w/SSD hear these click-click sounds every 6 secs or so ?
    I've disconnected the Mag Safe and it makes no difference. I've disconnected my USB-Ethernet adapter ad it makes no difference.
    The MBA is not hot either.
    I will say though that I don't recall hearing these sounds when I first booted my MBA today. It seems to have started some 6 hours after having used the MBA for the first time.
    I'm starting to find these click-click sounds annoying as apart from them the MBA is completely quiet and it's now become like hearing the tic-tok sound of a clock when trying to get to sleep.

    Brian:
    I'm in agreement with you on this. I downloaded smcFanControl App and it shows fan rpm at "000".
    Using TermperatureMonitor I find the Cores 1 & 2 are running at around 200ºF with RPM is 000.
    Not looking good at all. Time to Call AppleCare for sure.
    It does seem like my MBA w/SSD has a faulty fan.
    If MBA were to overheat is it designed to shutdown to protect itself ?
    Well I think I've got an answer to that question as CPU 2 has been disabled per Activity Monitor. It's just plain shutdown and only one processor is running now. Core 1 temp has dropped to 141ºF now.
    Stopped the two CPU burner Apps and now see that CPU 2 has come back online. At least the MBA is designed to protect itself from a meltdown even with the fan not running. Good design IMO.
    The baby is going back to the shop for sure. Bummer.
    I guess the click-click sound every 6 secs should serve as a warning to others.
    Thanks.

  • Since I let my G4 Powerbook's battery run down, I hear a loud CLICK SOUND at regular intervals, that I never heard before. It sounds like a back-up click. Is this a problem?

    After letting my PowerBook G4's battery run down all the way, I hear a loud metalic CLICK sound every so often.  Not sure if this is a problem or not. Should I be worried, or have it checked out?

    If it's not the original PowerBook, and you have the original OS X disks that came with your PowerBook, run  the Apple Hardware Test.  If it's the first PowerBook, the Apple Hardware Test is available online.
    When prompted, run the extended test. Depending on how much memory you have in the system, the test can take an hour or more.
    TechTool Deluxe or Pro can do similar testing, too.
    You're looking to see if it gives you any error messages about the hardware in your system.

  • I am trying to make a iphoto book but every time i click on a single photo or folder it opens up a new book. How can I avoid this? This is iphoto 10.

    I am trying to make a iphoto book but every time i click on an individual photo (or folder) it opens up a new book. How can i avoid this?

    Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  Select Size = Medium or Large.
    Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
    Follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:
    Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
    To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
    Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
    If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
    Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
    If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
    Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
    This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
    You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.
    NOTE:  If you're running iPhoto 9.5 the export options will be different.

    when i touch my iphone 5s home button it makes a small click sound before pressing completely.Is it normal ?

    Mine does this too. I know EXACTLY what you mean. If you push lightly (not actually depressing the button) it makes a higher pitched "click". Like the saphire is getting caught up on the ring surrounding the saphire layer. Any input Apple???
    My wifes 5S hasn't started this yet. Wondering what the issue is here? I have notices other threads with the same issues.

  • New Mac Mini making loud clicking sound

    I bought my Mac Mini (Late 2012) in August 2013 and from the first week of having it, it periodically makes a loud 'click' noise followed by a series of 'tick tick tick' noises. This is usually accompanied by a slight hang in any .app I'm using and my iTunes will cut out momentarily. Sometimes it happens when I'm not doing anything on it at all.
    Is the hard drive failing, and why on earth would that be an issues in a brand new computer? Am I going to have to take it in for repair, as it's my only computer for work?!

    Dead on arrival hard drives are nothing new.     Even my folks had a Dell with one.   Transportation in an unpadded cases can also jar a hard drive, though usually the parked heads prevents any damage.    You should always be backing up your data regardless:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-1992
    At least you are under the 1 year hardware warranty.  Buy AppleCare before that runs out, and that way you will be covered until 3 years from date of computer's purchase.

  • Making weird sound every time I switch songs.  Really annoying..

    Ok, so my iPod Touch makes a weird sound every time I switch songs. It is the exact same sound the iPod makes when connecting the USB cable to my macbook. I tried turning off all sound effects, didn't help.
    Any idea? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Strange. Which phone model? What file format is used for the songs? How did you transfer them to your phone? Where on the phone do you put them?

    Yes, you can do something like that. What you would do is create a button for each image and then hide them. When I do this type of thing I place all of the buttons on a template page and then hide the template.
    You can then use JavaScript to copy the icon from any of the hidden buttons to the main button that you've set up to display the image. For example, suppose you set up 10 buttons named b1, b2, b3, ...b10. The code to copy the icon from one of them to the button used to display the image (b0) would be something like this:
    // Get the icon from the b3 button
    var oIcon = getField("b3").buttonGetIcon();
    // Get  reference to the b0 button
    var f = getField("b0");
    // Set the icon of the b0 button to the icon retrieved from the hidden button
    f.buttonSetIcon(oIcon);
    // Show the b0 button
    f.display = display.visible;
    This code would go in the Mouse Up event of the smaller button.
