My calendars keep disappearing

I've just used Missing Sync (5.1.2) to transfer my Palm Desktop 4.2.1 data to iCal and Address Book. My contacts came through fine, and it appeared my calendar came through as well, named "Unfiled" in the Calendars list to the left of the calendar's grid.
After quitting and reopening iCal, however, my calendar had disappeared from the Calendars list and all the events were missing from the grid, but I noticed that the info panel on the right still said "Unfiled." Searching elsewhere in this forum, I saw that some people were able to recover their events by switching from one view to another (day/week/month). I tried it and all my events reappeared; the calendar, however, is still missing from the Calendars list. Each time I quit/reopen iCal the same thing happens.
This all started because I am switching from a Treo 700p (verizon) to an iPhone. This mysterious behavior of iCal, however, has left me nervous about relying on iCal/Address Book. If the disappearance/reappearance of calendars is just a quirky display thing, then I can probably live with it. But I want to know first that it isn't just a symptom of a more serious underlying issue.
Any explanations/recommendations/opinions? I really don't want to have to downgrade to Entourage . . .
G5-Dual 2.5 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

Okay... this is really weird. I just found this thread (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=721482&start=15&tstart=330) which got me looking more closely at my calendar events. When I clicked on the show-search-results-list button (not putting any criteria in the search field) I, too, found some events that erroneously repeated several times on the same day. I deleted them one-by-one (always clicking the "delete only this event" option when the event was part of a series).
I also discovered that a bunch of events (20-30?) were set for April 30, 1947 and a couple for April 29th, 1947! These weren't birthdays (which someone mentioned were showing up as repeat events every year since the person was born; one of my birthday events is doing the same thing)--some were repeat events, some were singe-day events. I deleted all of these, plus a few for April 30, 1970 (what's up with April 30th?!!!), and now my calendar shows up again in the Calendars list-no matter how many times I quit/restart iCal.
I'm heartened to see that my iCal now appears to be working as it should and am prepared to write off the 1947 and 1970 weirdness as mere results of the initial sync process, but... Does anyone have an idea/theory as to why this happened in the first place?

  • ICal calendars keep disappearing

I maintain identical calendars on both of my computers, keeping them synched via .Mac. Recently all of the calendars disappeared. Events and To Does appeared for the current month, but I was unable to change between months. Soon the whole thing quit working.
I restored one set of calendars from Time Machine and got it working. After adding in the new dates that dropped out in that process, I copied the entire Calendars file (User/Library/Calendars) directly over to the other computer. That worked—for one day. Now all the calendars are missing again from my laptop, and it's right back to where it was.
Also, as part of that process I replaced all the calendar data on .Mac with data from the working calendar, just in case there was contamination from problem stored on .Mac.
What's going on? And is there is a fix?
    Thanks.

I just made this post to another user, but it bears repeating.
    I recommend that you read:
    1. How to reset .Mac Sync
    2. How-To: Truly reset your .Mac sync data
My primary advice is to ensure that you use the backup feature on iCal before you try anything else. If you are using different versions of OS X/iCal the menu commands will be slightly different, but the comfort of having a good backup is "Priceless."

  • Davmail Calendar Keeps Disappearing with iOS7

I have two sets of calendars set up sync over the air with my iphone.
    - icloud, for all my personal stuff
    - bespoke CalDav server set up using Davmail.  This syncs with the office 2003 exchange server.
    Before ios7 this worked perfectly.
However since installing ios7 on the iphone 4s the Davmail calendar disappears after a couple of minutes.  The icloud calendars are not affected.
The issue is the same with the iphone 5s which has been set up as a new phone.
I expect this issue is a compatibiity issue with the Davmail server.  Has anyone else having a similar issue with non icloud calendars?
    Thanks in advance....

Actually, this is a User-Agent problem.
Davmail does not recognise the user-agent of IOS 7 which is causing the problem.
The latest CVS of davmail has the fix, and I can confirm that it works (even though it was jumping through hoops to get it to compile on my rather messed up CENTOS 5 system).
I would guess that the next release version of davmail will have this fix included.
Otherwise if you can't wait, go for this:
    http://davmail.sourceforge.net/build.html
Use CVS to chekout the latest version (As per instructions above) - I built 4.3.4-2184-trunk
I had the very devil getting the build to accept that I had Java 1.7 installed, and had to modify the build.xml file to remove the java version check, and all references to it, and them look for the compile target and modify the java 1.5 to java 1.7 (both source and target)

I did it once but I cannot find how I did it before.  Obviously, the iphone/smartphone experience iis still new to me.  Your help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!

Since you're using a 3rd party app for calendaring, take a look at their support site.

  • Calendar schedule keep disappearing

    HI all,
After IOS 8, the calendar schedule keep disappearing. Whether those I keyed in myself or those being invited by others. Is this IOS 8 issue or the iPhone 6?
    I'm using iPhone 6+ 128 GB.
    Thanks

Hi, Things have started to go horribly wrong. I have performed a manual sync from my macbook pro to .mac and for a few minutes this restored the calendar on .mac. I added an entry to .mac and a few mins later the calendar was pushed to my iPhone. On returning to my .mac account, the calendar has now been deleted although the data is still on my iPhone and macbook pro. As it's getting late here in the UK, I am switching it all off in the hope that something positive will happen overnight and my faith in technology can be restored - otherwise, it's back to the paper diary!
If you have any other ideas as to what to do, it would be much appreciated..
    Thanks

  • My calendar events keep disappearing when I add them to my iphone 5 calendar.

My calendar events keep disappearing from my iphone5 a few days after I put them in. I tried all the fixes listed in other questions, but it's not a matter of syncing or not, the appointments disappear and they're not anywhere else either. I need the appointments to stay on my phone, I don't add appointments any other way or on any other device, and when they're gone, I have no idea what I'm missing. It's screwing up my work schedule because I don't know what has disappeared.

App (pinned) tabs and Tab Groups (Panorama) are stored as part of the session data [1] in the file sessionstore.js [2] in the Firefox profile folder [3].
Make sure that you do not use "Clear Recent History" to clear the "Browsing History" when Firefox is closed because that prevails and prevents Firefox from opening tabs from the previous session.

  • Contacts and calendar items disappear when exchange server is off

    Hi All
I've been having this problem for a few weeks now and it's most frustrating. My iphone is setup to sync over the air to our corporate exchange server. It seems that when the server is down for repair/patching ALL my contacts and calendar items disappear from my iphone. This doesn't seem to happen if the phone is out of signal?
I know that I can sync directly with Outlook, however this would then mean that the phone is only updated when synced with my laptop at work. If I sync both over the air AND with Outlook, I get duplicates of everything in my calendar.
I'm not restoring my iphone to factory defaults to get rid of the duplicates and go back to over the air sync only.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get calendar and contacts to work "offline" when the exchange server is down?
Main PC is running Windows 7 and exchange is 2007. This problem is only recent, I think in the last month of two. Nothing has changed other than the last few firmware updates from Apple.

hi, cheers for the info. That would make sense, however how come when I'm out of signal and not connected to wifi, the data doesn't also disappear as that too would render the server "unavailable".
Is there a way to make the iphone keep a copy of the data much the same as "offline mode" in Outlook where you can still browse your email, calendar and contacts when the server is offline, and it picks up where it left off when the server is available again?
I appreciate this may not be a "problem" as such, but is frustrating as all my contacts and calendar live in Outlook and I can't function without them

  • ICal Tasks/To Do Items Keep Disappearing, plus search function doesn't work

Ever since I upgraded my Mobile Me calendars about two or three weeks ago, which as I understand makes my calendars now LIVE on the Mobile Me cloud instead of directly on my computers, I have had nothing but trouble with iCal. I use Bento with iCal for my project management system — I use the iCal Tasks for my basic information, and I added extra fields in Bento for other details I like to track. Anyway, the upgrade completely unhinged where those two came together so that the basic information that Bento was getting from iCal no longer matched with the extra details.
But that's no longer my problem. I fixed that easily by completely changing the way I track things now — I did away with the extra fields and decided to have Bento work directly and only with the information in my iCal app.
Still, another problem came up, the one I need an answer to. New tasks I entered through Bento, wouldn't KEEP on iCal. They'd show up momentarily, but a day or two later, they would be gone.
I thought I fixed it a few days ago when I discovered that Time Zone Support wasn't checked on iCal. I made sure it was checked on all my computers AND on Mobile Me because I suspected that Tasks were disappearing every time my computers synced with Mobile Me. It seemed to work fine after making sure everything supported time zones. I even synced a few times, just to test it, checked all calendars at all places, and whatever Tasks or To Do Items I added from within Bento appeared to sync fine, appear at all the proper places, at all instances of the calendars, AND stay put.
BUT I just discovered tonight, that the new Tasks I entered in the last week for one of my calendars have ONCE AGAIN disappeared. For some reason, though, the new tasks I entered for another one of my calendars managed to stay put. I have no idea why one calendar was affected and another wasn't.
The point is, I can't for the life of me figure out why my newly entered Tasks keep disappearing. Is it an iCal thing? Is it Mobile Me? Is it because I am entering the tasks/to do items from within Bento? What?
And the icing on the cake? The search function on the iCal app on one of my computers no longer works. I will search for a task/to do item that I KNOW is there and can actually see on the side bar, but it will not pop up in the search results. I searched online about how to fix that, but none of the fixes work — many of them, I believe, are outdated and so can't work in my case.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix these issues?

with iTunes and the apple.com web site, you don't hit
the Magnifing glass, after typing out what your
searching for, you hit enter on the keyboard. The mag
glass (Atleast in windows) is just for decor showing
you its a search field, its not an actual button like
it would be in most Microsoft/Windows apps
Thanks. I thought the magnifying glass was a clickable icon.

  • Notes in iCal keep disappearing since Yosemite

My notes on my recurring calendar events keep disappearing.  I have tried adding them through iCloud.com and that will work for a couple of days and then they will disappear. This happens when I add notes via my MacPro, Macbook Pro or iPhone.  I can't find anything related while searching the discussions in the last couple of years.

I've entered in a bug report so we'll see what happens....

  • Items on my calendar keep dissappearing

I am finding that items in my calendar are disappearing and not always syncing with my iPhone. This is causing a problem as I use the calendar as my appointment book.  I'm talking present and future dates not past.

Do you sync to iTUnes? In iTunes (and you can only see this with your device connected and the 'info' tab chosen) you can tell it how far back to sync events. The default used to be 30 days, which meant your device only keeps a month's worth of history around. But you can set it for longer.

this is really annoying.  I keep having to add pictures to my favorite contacts and they keep disappearing.  I've done it about 5 times.  I go to the gallary, find a picture, size it and save it.  They show up for awhile and then disappear.  Any suggestions?

  • Help: Calendar entries disappear on Pearl 8100

I have a BB Pearl 8100 and have the problem that calendar entries disappear from the device. Entries as recent as those from the previous week all of a sudden disappear. I have re-synchronized several times (I use Outlook 2003 for calendar and contacts), and the entries stay in the device for a few days but after a week or so, all past appointments, except the recurring ones, just disappear. I don't have a problem with contacts, and I don't synchronize emails, so the issue is only Calendar.
I have the Options set in my device to keep appointment forever, so that does not seem to be the problem.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Metroberry:
I don't have ringtones, music or videos in the BB. However, I have 30,600 bytes "File Free", out of 64mm "File Total". I guess this would qualify as very little memory left. Doesn't make sense though, since the only things I have in the device are my contacts and the calendar. What could be using up the memory?
    Thanks for your help.

  • "Account Info Needed" and Calendar entries disappear

This is a side problem in conjunction with the perpetual "Install Update" problem (see here: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Link/10-1-0-4181-won-t-stop-trying-to-load-and-now...
The BBQ10 device stops connecting to my desktop Outlook (calendar, contacts, tasks)
    Symptoms:
Calendar entries disappear after a simple screen refresh.
    "Account Info Needed" keeps repeating.
When updating the Account, this error appears: "There was an unexpected error and the operation was canceled"
The only way to temporarily fix this is to delete my account on the device and recreate it. I've done that three times just today. The data comes back fine then disappears again.
Any tricks on making the account stay put?

It's been 24 hours with neither of these 2 symptoms occuring.  What did I do? I deselected the "Turn on wireless connections to my computer".
Wth the bluetooth still enabled, my PC connects to the device as a storage device (which is all I really need for data/file transfer anyway). The Calendar entries are perfect - back and forth.
I'd be interested in hearing from others if this helped them.
(NOTE: the DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION BSOD still happens when the device is connected to the PC for any time longer than the backup or sync. That's an altogether different issue.)

  • Why do my home screen messages keep disappearing (SMS, missed calls, etc.)?

My messages, all others beside e-mail, because I haven't even set it up, just keep disappearing.  I have the home screen theme that shows messages, calendar, call log and applications.  The messages section shows me when I have a missed call or a text or anything like that....but for some reason, I go back to my phone and I can't see who has called or texted.  The home screen messages section is empty, and if I select it and go to my messages app., there are only 3 listed and 2 are from Blackberry on Apr. 25 and Jul. 30, and only one shows up from my boss on Aug. 5.  The only reason I can even imagine that still shows up is because she too has a blackberry.  I don't know, but, it's really starting to aggravate the crap out of me.  Anyone know how to help?
I've gone to messages General Options and made sure that all calls are sent to messages and the call log.
Oh, yeah!  The Call Log doesn't hold anything either.  It's ridiculous!
Please help because I like this phone, but, it's not doing its job to the fullest, and that's disappointing.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

this has been asked before and solved.. you have a memory issue.. you need to have at least 12 mb of free space for the phone to operate smothly.. if you havent got one yet get a memory card and move your pics and videos to memory card. along with any downloaded ringtones.. to find out what your file free status is click on options --> status and see what your file free is..another thing that might help is do a battery pull then do above step.. also make sure you dont have any internet programs running in background IE: weatherbug.. cause it continuously downloads data.. clear your browser history by going to an open browser clicking menu then options then cache and clear your history.. there are other steps to help but i cant think of any at the moment..
