My camera connection kit is slow on my iPad 4 iOS 7.1

I have my camera connection kit connect to my iPad 4th Gen running iOS 7.1 and the images are taking ages to load!
It's been 15 minutes now and the preview thumbnails are not even loaded, it's still loading all the pics from my DSLR.
I read a few forum discussions online that people had this issue on iOS 7 but for most the problem was resolved after the 7.1 update but for me it's still the same.
I am actually using a third party camera connection kit so I don't know if it's related to the adapter or iOS but looking at the previous issues I think it may be iOS.

I have planned to go to the apple store and buy a Apple USB to lightning port adapter to connect my camera through. Hopefully it does solve the problem.
I will try it out there once I buy it. Hopefully you are right and it is the third party adapter which is the problem.

  • Why does my camera connection kit not work with my ipad 1 after updating on ios 5?

Why does my camera connection kit not work with my ipad 1 after updating on ios 5? What can I do to make it work again?

It should. It will only respond if there's something on the card for it to respond to, so do you have pics on the card?
And if it's messing up; try giving the iPad a restart. Hold down the sleep and home keys, past when you see hte red power down slider and until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try again. That can clear up any glitches on the device itself.

  • Since the recent update I can no longer use my camera connection kit on any of my iPad's. Any ideas to remedy this?

Since updating my iPad  devices  (iPad 1,2 and iPad) with the latest iOS, I can no longer use the camera connection kit to load photos directly into my camera roll. Anybody have any ideas on remedying this problem?

Open Disk Utility, select the External Hard Drives first icon in the list of Drives, click the Repair Disk button.

  • Camera connection kit not working the same on IOS 5 as it did on IOS 4. Bugs or deliberate features?

Using the Camera connection kit Previously downloaded files were recognised and only new pictures were uploaded. Doesn't seem to work in IOS 5. I was using the Ipad as a photos backup and display device.

I haven't had an issue. Do you use the same card on both devices and it works differently on each one?
You might try resetting the one that isn't working. Hold down the sleep and home key, past the red power down slider and until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and see if it works.
Might, might not help it, but it's a common fix for glitches.

  • Why did my camera connection kit stop working after updating to iOS 6.0.1?

Camera connection kit stopped working on ios6.01 updated phone. Same camera kit works on the iPhone that I did not update. Why does it not work with 6.0.1?

The same story. No 3G after updating to 6.1.  Told my daughter temporarily not to do an update on her iPad with 6.01. We've exchanged SIMs. I inserted her SIM in my iPad - 3G appeared immediately. And my SIM in her iPad with ios 6.01 also WORKS FINE. We use the same provider - Megafon Moscow. After attempting to revert SIMs to original configuration, 3G disappeared on my iPad again. Don't know what's going on with SIM during the update to 6.1

  • Camera connection kit to iPhone 4 broke in iOS 4.2

Used it all the time then after upgrading iPhone and iPad to 4.2.1 it no longer works.

Me too, the SD card reader appears, as I can see the firmware info etc in the settings > about screen, but it just doesn't do anything when inserting an SD card.
However if I lock the SD card and then insert, it gives me the error message as if the media is corrupt. So it must be seeing the card inserted, but just won't trigger the screen to import photos like it used to before this latest bug riddled update...
Thanks Apple, can I please have my £25 back now that my camera kit is useless?!!!!
    Sort it out!!!!

  • IPad camera connection kit is working on ios 6.1.3 or no?

    Hello everyone,
I'm trying to find an answer to this question
Is iPad camera connection kit working on the new update iOS 6.1.3?
I need to know this kinda urgent now, because my iPad has been acting really weird, but I hadn't update yet, because I'm scared my camera connection kit won't work anymore, and I need it alot because I work with cameras.
Anyone who already update and the camera connection kit still working? Please
I have an iPad 2 currently iOS 6
    Have a great day!

Works on my iPad 2 also. I transfer pics/videos using an SDHC card and also using a USB flash drive.
To use a flash drive, Plug the  flash drive (works the same with an SD card) into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Not normal. Take it to an Apple Store for evaluation. It's covered by Apple's 1-year warranty.

  • Camera connection kit and photo stream

As many people nowadays, I don't carry a digital camera with me all the time, and most of my casual photographs are taken with my cellphone, which happens to be an iphone 4.
Since the introduction of photo stream, the process of organizing the digital photos taken with the phone, has ended being a hassle, since all photos automatically are imported to iphoto. But now, I would like to switch to another mobile platform, and obviously, I will be giving up this benefits.
I do have a 3rd gen ipad (so I won't be missing iOS), and my question is if the camera connection kit can be use to accomplish what with the iphone is done automatically. I mean, can i do the following steps?
    1) Continue taking all the casual photographs with the new cellphone, regardless of it's mobile platform,
    2) Connect the phone to the ipad via the camera connection kit,
    3) Import to the ipad all the photographs taken,
    4) Photo stream with it's magic, will automatically import those photographs to iphoto,
    5) Continue (somehow) enjoying the benefits of automatical photo organization.
I assume that the answer is affirmative, but I would like that someone that already has the camera connection kit help me, before i go out and make the purchase.
    Thanks!

The CCK recognizes most cameras and card readers, but the only way to know if it will recognize a cellphone is to try it out.  It all depends on how a handshake (or whatever it's called nowadays) is negotiated.  I guess it would work most of the time, but it may vary depending on the model.

  • Camera connection kit + Canon EOS 7D,it works?

I'm planning to buy the apple's camera connection kit to use with my iPad 2 and my Canon EOS 7D.Im shooting RAW with an 16GB CF.There are any known issues that i may have?

I just tried several methods of transferring photos from my Canon 7D to my iPad 2 using the Camera Connection Kit.  I was shooting both RAW and JPG, and used a Sandisk 16GB CF Card in my camera to save the photos.
Obviously, since the 7D takes CF cards and not SD cards, I used the USB dongle in the CCK.  First I  tried connecting the iPad to a Lexar CF card reader.  I immediately got a message saying that the device requires too much power, even before I inserted the CF card into the reader.  So that method didn’t work.
Next, with a CF card in the camera, I tried connecting the camera directly to the iPad using a USB cable. This method was successful.  Upon turning on the camera, the photo program on the iPad activated and asked if I wanted to import my photos.  I said yes, and all the images (both RAW and JPG) were transferred and viewable in the iPad.
Next, I tried transferring the 7D photos I just imported from my iPad over to my iMac for further editing in Aperture.  This was also successful.  My setup is such that when I connect my iPad to my iMac, the iMac’s Image Capture program is automatically started and from there I can move the iPad photos to Aperture or a folder.  For these tests, I imported the photos into a  folder on my desktop.  I started Aperture (v. 3.1.3) and imported the photos in the folder into a new project.  All the photos (both RAW and JPG) were successfully imported, including all the metadata from the camera.  From there I could manipulate the photos just like any others in Aperture.
During my tests, I found that the choice of USB cable you use matters.  At first, I used a thin USB cable that I had previously used for charging duty (in fact, it has a label that says Charging Use Only on it).  It didn’t work at all for transferring data. However, when I switched to a thicker USB cable (from Apple coincidentally) that could handle data, the photos transferred from the camera just fine.
I still don’t think the iPad is the ideal photo backup device, due primarily to its relatively small storage capacity (especially if you shoot RAW), but at least these tests show it can in principle be done with higher-end SLR cameras that take CF cards.
    Hope this helps someone.

  • Does the camera connection kit rename imported photos?

If I use the camera connection kit to transfer photos from the SD card used in my Sony RX-100 camera, will the photos, whose names always begin with "DSC_", be renamed according to the iOS covention "IMG_"?
This renaming *does* occur when I transfer photos to my iOS devices using Eye-Fi cards.

You can also use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM.

  • HT4101 My camera connection kit no longer works

Nothing happens when I connect my camera connection kit with SD card into iPad 3 port.  Last time I used it...several months ago... it worked OK, but now, something's not clicking.  It doesn't seem to sit in securely...that is, it sort of sags with its own weight. If I hold level and firmly, still nothing happens.  I reluctant to force it in too much for fear of damaging iPad's pins.  Anyone else have this problem?  It seems wrong that the connection kit failed after just one trip (about 10 imports).

The only thing you could also try is backup the iPad, restoring it as new and try again to connect it, just to make sure the issue isn't at the iPad.
You could use this article for this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
Since the iPad doesn't have charging issues though, I don't expect this to have any effect,  but you could try it.

  • RAW picture previews loading extremely slow since IOS 8 using the Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit

    Hi all
First, sorry for my poor english, I hope you understand my problem.
Device is iPad Air Wi-Fi with IOS 8.
I just realized this issue yesterday. I wanted to import some of my RAW pictures from my Nikon camera's SD card, using the Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit. In the Photos app / Import tab, the RAW picture previews show extremely slow. It takes a second to show each photo preview before import. A second for every single picture preview
For example, if you have 500 pictures on your SD card, and you want to import pictures from this card but just some selected, then you need to wait for an overview preview a lot of minutes. On IOS 7 this process was maybe 10 seconds for all of the pictures...

Same problem here. As a professional wedding photographer, sifting through my photos while on the go is the reason for me purchasing the iPad (Retina) 2 years ago, I now have an $800 paperweight after iOS8.x.x. Apple, if you actually read these, please inform your engineers to fix this in the next update or at least provide us with a solution to return to iOS7.x.x. Makes me wonder if there is any QA or testing that goes on before an update is released. As an FYI, here's my thread from a few weeks ago: Native Photos App, Slow... No, I mean really slow.

  • Is camera connection kit slower than MIDI Interface?

I have purchased the camera connection kit for use with the new iPad. I am using it with Yamaha's set list designer.
The keyboard I'm using it with is a Yamaha S 90 XS.
I have it hooked up with the USB cable through the camera connection kit.
This app sends program changes according to a set list over MIDI.
When I connected to the keyboard the iPad says this device is not compatible.
However it shows up as a device and everything works fine except that it's very slow.
I'm wondering if a MIDI interface like the Yamaha or line 6 would give me a better result.
Has anyone out there have experience using  the midi interface vs. the camera connection kit?
Is either one more responsive than the other one.
    Thanks and best regards,
    Lpiano

I don't know when you used it last, but there was a firmware upgrade in 2011 that reduced the amount of power allocated to the 30 pin port - and with that the ability for the iPad to recognize and work with many USB devices that had worked before (even more confusing, articles are still out there saying such and such will work, but they were written before the upgrade)
the only work around I've seen some suggest is to use a powered USB hub, but if you've already tried that then you may just be out of luck
