My camera no longer recognised by Lightroom 4.4. What happened?

Been using Lightroom 4.4 for some time with no problems until today when the software no longer recongises the camera (Nikon 7100). What's happening and how do I fix it?

Sounds like your raw files have become corrupted, somehow, or you’re running LR 4.3 or earlier, somehow, since LR 4.4 is required to recognize the D7100 NEFs.
Have you used any software besides LR to transfer the files from the camera to LR? Nikon Transfer V1 or ViewNX (1) can corrupt information in newer model Nikon camera raw files so Adobe doesn’t recognize them, anymore.
It’s possible the issue is arising from some new problem the camera, card, usb-cable, reader, hard-drive, computer memory, or software like a virus-scanner have, so vary which of the camera/card/cable/reader components you’re using and see if the problem persists.
If you are using a cable directly attached to the camera, then try a card-reader, instead, or vice versa.
If you're seeing the error message "The files cannot be read" then check the IMPORT DESTINATION specified on the top right of the Import panel, because the message means the copy process is unable to write the files to the desitnation so when LR tries to read them for Import it cannot.

Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
Alternatively, depending on exactly when and why the library went missing, there may be a more recent .tmp file in the main iTunes folder that can be renamed as iTunes Library.itl to restore the library to a recent state.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
I've noticed more of these missing library posts of late and a common factor since I started asking is AVG Anti-Virus. It seems it might be at least part of the reason why the library file disappears. Try excluding the iTunes folder from any real-time scanning process.

Would doing the "Reset" under General settings do that? When I returned from Europe I reset my ipad to get it in the right time zone etc.

Reboot. Press and hold the home and sleep buttons until the apple logo appears. Ignore the red slider.

I got these instructions from others;

Installing 2.5 should not affect your presets. I still have mine. That
said, Soften Skin is simply a preset that comes installed by default.
The settings are:
Clarity = -100
Sharpness = 25
Everything else set to 0
If you have presets that are not showing you can check Edit >
Preferences > Presets and see if Store Presets with Catalog is checked.
If it is, uncheck and restart Lightroom to see if that brings them back.
Otherwise you can just create a new preset with the above settings.

Every time I sync it, there's no longer any games option, and I can't figure out what happened. Anyone know how I can fix it? Should I just try to restore it?

It seems as though since Apple removed clickwheel games from the iTunes Store, they have also removed the ability to resync games you had already downloaded previously over to your device.

Sony Camera no longer recognised after Mac OS 10.4 upgrade

I use Final Cut Pro HD 4.5 and just upgraded to Tiger.
When I start up FCP I get a message I have no camera connected.
But checking the System Profiler I can see the Sony DCR-TRV33 on the Firewire bus.
I also checked iMovie, and there's no problem there. It shows Camera connected.
Do I have to update FCP? (I haven't found an update) or should I do something else? or did i make a mistake uograding to Tiger?

What you are describing is often caused by a dorked install of Quicktime as FCP uses QuickTime to do its capturing.
You might try reinstalling it (don't leave out any steps). Go to /Library/Receipts. Trash all QuickTime related .pkg files (Don't worry, you're only deleting receipts). Go to www.quicktime.com and download the latest installer and run it. Reboot.

5th generation ipod touch rear camera no longer works; have tried everything; now what?

so my ipod touch 5th generation's rear camera hasnt been working for a month or two. the front camera works, but once I click on the button to switch to the rear, it freezes. i have tried resetting my settings, backing up and restoring my ipod, force closed and moved the camera app, etc. also, when i use facetime or snapchat, the rear camera option doesnt even show up. Online ive read that this is a hardware problem, so i was wondering what i could do or where i could take it to be fixed? and if i did take it in, how much would repair cost? thanks in advance.
also, there is no apple store around me within like two and a half hours. i bought this from best buy in 2013, could i take it there or can i send it in to apple?

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

Not sure what happened, but have you tried holding the sleep and home buttons until an apple apprears? This may restart your ipad.
If that doesn't get it going, you can take it to an apple store for an expert to test/fix as needed.

Camera profiles. /what happens when deleted

if you use the camera profiles (beta) that can be downloaded. What happens to photos that used such a profile in develop, if the profile where to be removed.
Like if you need to re-install LR, buy a new computer, an updated profile (non beta. etc etc.
i find the D2X mode3 (set down brightness a little and change green hue a bit) give good match to Capture NX style from my Nikon D50.

In the absence of your requested profile for an image, LR will use the first available profile. It's a current UI glitch that causes LR to show the blank Profile popup menu, but in fact it is using a profile specific to your camera (you'd know for sure if it wasn't: colors wouldn't be remotely close).
We plan to provide a smooth migration path for those who want to upgrade from beta profiles to final profiles once they're ready.

When I use find file http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30073/find-file (which does tend to find files that "Finder" can't), it's not coming up with any other itunes library files that have been modified in the past week, which I know it would have been - unfortunately, I don't have a very recent backup of the hard drive. It would be a few months old so it wouldn't have the complete library on it....any ideas? I'm wondering if restarting the computer might help but have been afraid to do so in case it would make it harder to recover anything...I was looking at this thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4211589?start=0&tstart=0 in the hopes that it might have a helpful suggestion but it's definitely a different scenario.

Let's see if I can simplify it for you...are you using CS6 (yes, it seems), are you having ACR problems (yess it seems). So, do you want to fix your issues? Then read this (pay close attention to the details)...

It pretty much says you need to download a different version of ACR and install it (if it's not too diffucult for you to understand) to get ACR & Bridge to work properly...or not. Your choice...

I'm trying to tether my Nikon D3300 with lightroom, but the program tells me that it can't detect a camera. But when I first hooked up my camera, it automatically recognised the SD card and showed me the pictures.
Do I need a extra plugin or something? I installed my version of lightroom 3 weeks ago (end of january). So it's the latest available version, and Adobe says my camera is supported.

If you are on Mac OS X you can still shoot tethered with many more cameras than are supported by Adobe in Lightroom. In fact, Apple supports 38 Nikon DSLR going all the way back to the original D1. (There are a similar number of Canon DSLR cameras supported as well)
In OS X, tethering is supported at the system level. Use the Image Capture app (installed with the OS in the Applications folder.) Although Image capture has limited camera controls, you can shoot tethered and have IC save the images to a folder on your computer. Then set Lightroom to import images from that watched folder ... takes just a tiny bit longer to view images than tethering directly ... but then you don't have to put up with excuses and explanations of why it doesn't work directly in Lr.
Best of all ... there is no additional cost involved.

PC no longer recognises my iPhone after trying to update to iOS 5...Help!?!?

When returning from popping out of the house, as the Back UP and Update was taking forever, I came home to find that my iPhone has updated to iOS 5 but failed to Restore itself. On top of this my PC no longer recognises my iPhone and issues a message 'USB Device Not Recognized'. Now I have tried several attempts at fixing this, reinstalling iTunes, disabling and re-enabling USB Drives but nothing seems to work. So I am now left with an empty phone, no contacts nothing, which can't even connect to my PC.
Any Ideas???????????????????

I had the same problem, I shut down the computer, disconnected it, etc... nothing helped. I went to the Apple store and they fixed it by restoring my phone to factory defaults and then updating. When I got home I connected to Itunes and it synched all my information back to the phone. If you have synched your information to Icloud you have to do it there!

Macbook Camera No Longer Working Since Upgrading To 10.5

I have just upgraded to 10.5 and have now discovered that my built in camera is no longer recognised by Photobooth,iChat or other third party applications such as Funbooth and iRecord. The error that I am getting is that there is no camera attached.
I know this can not be a hardware issue as I had been using the camera on Tiger 10.4.11 before I upgraded. I would appreciate any assistance in finding a fix for this issue.

You should zap your PRAM. That usually solves these kinds of hardware problems.
From the manual:
Shut down your computer. Turn the computer back on and immediately hold down Command-Option-P-R, continuing to press until you hear the startup sound for the second time. This resets the computer’s parameter random-access memory (PRAM).
IMPORTANT: Resetting PRAM may change some system settings and preferences. Use System Preferences to restore your settings.
