My canon 7D won,t import raws.

My canon 70D,i have now changed to the 7D,i was able to import raws with the 70D,but i can,t seem to be able to import raws with the canon 7D,LR does not show them in the import,i have everything ticked that should be the same as i had it before.
I am using Win 8.1,LR 5.6,IT ONLY SEES JPEGS,HELP!!!!

You may probably have to download the update for the Camera Codec Pack for Win 8.1 from here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40309 as support or the CR2 files should be there.
It shouldn't make a difference if the Codec isn't installed as the CR2 files should still show in the browser as it will in the OS but no thumbnails.
In Preferences General, if you select "Treat JPEG Files next to RAW files as separate photos" you will then see all the CR2/JPG files, if it isn't selected you will only see the CR2 (but without the CODEC no thumbnails) but it will import both the CR2 and JPEG files.
I use both 5D Mk III and 7D and have no issues except the fact that the thumbnails were not displayed until I installed the CODEC pack.

my MBP won't import RAW or jpg files. Worked fine before. Could it be Mountain Lion?

• Lightroon 2.5 won't import raw files

Lightroom 2.7 won't import raw files from folder. After I choose files and click they come up as a white file that says (preview not available for this image ) and I can't go any further. Have no trouble importing JPEGS.

So, what changed? Assuming the camera is supported in LR 2.7 then something changed...you still haven't indicated the OS...I would try a card reader (takes the camera setting out of the factor).

• IPhoto '08 won't import RAWs from Canon EOS 450D

I did install the "Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 2.1", but even so, I am not able to import RAW images from my Canon EOS 450D, only jpgs. The error message I get is:
"The following files could not be imported (they may be an unrecognized file type or the files may not contain valid data)."
How do I solve this? The camera is brand new. Is a firmware reflash in order? How?
Anyone else experience this?

Try using Image Capture to upload the files to the desktop and then import from there.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

• LR won't import raw files shot in monochrome

I just shot a wedding. Half the images were shot in color, the other half were shot in monochrome(black and white). upon importing into lightroom only the color images would import. With the black and white files I got the error message saying that the files could not be read. I was shooting with a canon rebel t2i (550D), importing into lightroom 3.2 on a mac OS X.
Any help would be appreciated!

Can you post a link to one of the RAW files that won’t import, so others can try? If you don’t have your own website, upload it to www.yousendit.com sending the file to your own e-mail, then post the download link it provides.
Otherwise, have you tried LR 3.5, in case a bug that affects the situation has been fixed?

• Iphoto 8 after update won't import RAW files

I'm running iphoto 8 version 7.1.3 and just updated the software from Apple's auto update (Jun 30th is when the update installed). Now I can't import RAW files from my canon 30D, from a memory card or from existing files. Every time I try iphoto freezes and I have to reboot the computer. Add to that, iphoto has now "lost" most of the pictures - ie it doesn't show them in the events or photos areas. I have managed to find the photos in the library, but when I try to import them back into iphoto, if there are any RAW files in the folders, I get the same problem as before - iphoto freezing, and having to restart the computer.
has anyone else experienced this problem? Or have any suggestions for solutions?
thanks

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Are you shooting RAW + jpeg or just RAW. If it the former another user found out that shooting the combination of formats was not supported by iPhoto but shooting just the RAW was.
For the missing file issue try the three fixes below in order as needed:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select all options.
2 - rebuild the library using iPhoto Library Manager as follows:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: It may take some time to create the new library if you have a lot of photos.
3 - start over with a new library and import the Originals folder from your original library as follows:
Creating a new library while preserving the Events from the original library.
Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
Open the library package like this.
Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
Drag the Originals folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open Photo window
This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library if you have the Finder checkbox unchecked in the Events preference pane.
• Lightroom 5.6 won't import raw files from Nikon D750

• RAW files from Canon 5D won't import to Lightroom

You pay your money to Adobe! The only free updates are the so-called dot changes. To get from 3.x to 4.x you have to pay. You could start here, or in your country equivalent:

• Lightroom Won't Import RAW+Jpeg

I took photos using Nikon D200 using the setting RAW+Jpeg. When I insert my memory card into the reader and tell it to import all photos, it only sees and imports the RAW. Looking the the CF card directly, I can see both jpeg and raw, but LR will only bring in the Raw..any reason for this? I unchecked check for duplicates to see if that mattered and it doesn't.
This is intentional behavior, lots don't like it, lots do. For me, personally, I never pull down JPEG copies with my RAW files from the camera, but this is not for everyone.
There are workarounds, (search threads) but the simplest to to ditch the JPEGs and create them as needed from the adjusted RAW files.

• Iphoto 7.1.5 won't import RAW from Nikon D5000

Just got a new Nikon D5000. Imported a few JPGs fine but the RAW files are unrecognizable. What gives? Did not have problems with my RAW files from my old Nikon D70.

I got a NIkon P6000 and their RAW file format, .NRW is not compatible with Macs although Photoshop CS4 and Lightroom 2 make a stab at it. I have CS3, of course, and Lightroom 1. SO, I thought of returning the camera and getting the Canon G10. Now, it turns out one needs Adobe Camera Raw 4.0 to process Raw files in CS3 and LR 1. OK, so I have not been able to find Camera Raw 4. They take you only to 5. You guessed it - only compatible with CS4, etc. Anybody know how to work with Canon Raw files in Photoshop CS3? Or where I can get Adobe Camera Raw 4.0?
Thanks

• Lightroom 5 won't import RAW files from Nikon D7000

Since the last two updates of Lightroom 5 I cannot import any RAW files from a Nikon D7000. I have imported thousands of photos previously in RAW from the same camera, and even iPhoto has no issues importing them. I just get an error every time, even though it shows a preview of the photos on the card.

What error are you seeing when you try to import?

• Elements 9 won't import RAW (NEF) files

Tried importing files from memory card with pics taken in both JPEG and RAW. Imported JPEG's but not the RAW pics. It has accepted RAW files before. First time using Nikon D800 camera. Any solutions?
Thanks.

PSE 9 cannot make use of Nikon D800 RAW files.
You have 3 options, two of them are free
Download the free Adobe DNG converter, version 7.4. This will convert your RAWs to DNG, which will open in PSE9
Use the Nikon software that came with your camera, convert the photos to TIF, which can be used in PSE9
Purchase PSE11
