My Canon MG5250 won't print anything from my mac.

It comes up with a Error Number: 311. I am using a USB connection, and I can see the printer on my computer but when it goes to print it loads and then shows the error. I have already tried re-installing the software for the printer, resetting the print head. Nothing I find on the net seems to work. The printer does work as when I scan things it prints them. I think there is a problem with the communication between my MacBook and the printer.

I tried doing this and installing it and resetting the printer system but nothing happened

    Hi dukster,
I'll see if I can find anything for you. What kind of computer and OS do you have? A Mac or a PC? Also, what browsers are you trying to print from?

  • Canon i550 won't print wirelessly from iBook

I have a desktop PC and a new iBook which I believe should be able to print wirelessly through my Linksys router. [The iBook replaced a laptop PC which was able to print wirelessly. Of course they both were XP 2 systems.] I think I have set things up properly but perhaps not. When asked to print the system accepts the command and a light blinks on the printer but nothing happens. Any suggestions welcome.
    iBookG4 Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Canon (and all non-postscript printer manufacturers except Brother) does not provide drivers that can use all the comm protocols that OS X and CUPS can use, because it was easier for them to use the legacy OS-9 style single-comm (USB-only) driver. I think it's fair to say Apple didn't help, because they didn't remove that option. In addition, Canon doesn't help the open source community, so no one has come up with free CUPS drivers (like Gimp-Print) for Canons newer than 6 years old. Gutenprint (new name for Gimp-Print) is working on it.
You can buy an excellent CUPS driver from www.printfab.net. Then you can use all the OS X network protocols.
When you set up your IP printing, don't forget to enter the linksys-specific queue name in the setup - it's a part of the address that gets data to the printer.

  • Canon mp495 won't print wireless from macbook

I've set it up, it will print the test page, and on word if I go to File>Print, it will print, however when I hit the icon on the word document, it says printer is offline. Any cures?

Ok I have the updated driver, deleted and reinstalled and still no change. The exact wording from click the shortcut is:Word could not communicate with the printer.
    There are several possible reasons:
-Your printer or its driver may not be set up correctly or there may be a problem with the network connection. You may need to adjust your printer settings.
-There may be a bad connection between your computer and printer.
I don't see how it could be a network issue since it stil prints from the "file" selection.

  • Canon MP620 won't print

I have a Canon MP620 printer that for some reason the drivers were missing one day and I was unable to find the discs for the printer. I was able to find them online again and it's able to scan but now it won't print anything.
I have it connected via USB to my MacBook Pro (running on 10.5.8) and when I try to print something, the printer queue appears and says that the job is processing and the same on the printer screen but nothing is being printed.
If anyone has some sort of solution, it would be much appreciated.

Solution Menu is just a front-end to the other Canon applications, such as MP Navigator and Easy Photo Print. Solution Menu does not do any of the printing. So, is it the Easy Photo Print application that you cannot print 4" x 6" photos with?
Canon released later versions of applications to be compatible with 10.6. If you are still using the Leopard versions of these applications from your upgrade then you will have download and install the later versions.
If you have the later versions but are still having problems, have you tried using iPhoto as an alternative to see if this will work printing 4" x 6" photos.

  • My mac keeps freezing when i try and print anything from preview. any ideas as to what the issue is or how to fix it?

my mac keeps freezing when i try and print anything from preview. any ideas as to what the issue is or how to fix it?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in Mac OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • My MG8120 won't print wirelessly from my MacBook running OS 10.9.5. Works fine with HP printers.

My MG8120 won't print wirelessly from my MacBook running OS 10.9.5 (Mavericks).  It works fine with all of the other HP printers in the office.  Another user has the same problem with her PC running Windows 7.  And she, too, has no problems printing on the other HPs.  I or she cannot print to any of three Canon printers in the office.

    Hi,
    Please try the following steps,
Download every updates from Apple and HP
Reset or Delete the printer from your mac (it may work trhough USB)
Reset all settings into default settings on your printer
Turn off or unplug mac, printer, modem, router
    Plug everything and reboot all
Reconnect the printer to home wifi network and mac also reconnect to the correct network
I work for HP. I am speaking for myself and not for HP.

  • I am unable to print anything from any website.

As of a week or so ago, I cannot print anything from Firefox. I'm using FF 3.6.13, and Max OS X 10.6.6 on a 3+ year-old (Intel Core 2 Duo) iMac. I'm connected via ethernet to a Brother laser printer. I am unaware of any change in any element of the computer's hardware or software since before the problem appeared, except the recent OS X update. (See below for why I don't think that's the problem.)
In all other respects Firefox appears to be working correctly: I can open pages, navigate the sites as usual, etc.
I don't get a blank sheet of paper from the printer--I get no response from the printer at all, print preview gives no response, and pdf's created from the print dialog box are blank.
I reset all of the print settings in about:config. No help. I deleted Firefox and all my preferences, reinstalled FF from the Mozilla site; no help.
The only extension I've added is a dictionary, which has not been updated or altered since long before the problem appeared.
The error console has warnings: "Warning: Unknown property '(blah, blah, blah)'. Declaration dropped. Source file: https//addons.mozilla.org/media//css/zamboni/z-min.css?build=cd68cc7" where '(blah, blah, blah)' is "text-overflow", "border-radius", "box-shadow", "-moz-transition", et al.
Error console has a message: "api-secure.recaptcha.net : server does not support RFC 5746, see CVE-2009-3555". Following up on that didn't do me any good either. The description of that issue seemed to focus on sites not opening, which is not my problem.
My wife's MacBook is running the same version of Firefox and OS X (including last week's update to Snow Leopard), and prints to the same printer over the same LAN. (Later model processor and different firmware, though.) No problems printing, just like my iMac was behaving last week.

  • 8625 failure to print anything from windows 8.1 computer on wirelessnetwork

I installed the HP Officejet aio yesterday and I cannot get it to print anything from my computer.  I installed it on my home network.  My office mate has the same computer and is running on 8.1 and he can print to the 8625.  But I cannot.  The printers does show up in the control panel as the default printer when I send a file to be printed it says it's printing but I get nothing.  What should I do, I'm really PO'd about this.

Winidows 8.1 printer issue         From a previous post by Associate Professor, an HP Employee
Hopefully one of the following solutions will help you.
If you have seen issues where your laptops/tablets has been taken from a private (home) network to a public network  and then not been able to print when returning back to your private (home) network.  This is most likely due to the public network settings not being reset back to the private (home) network settings.  If this sounds like an issue you are having- try resetting your network settings by following the steps in the documents linked here:
For Ink Printers, please visit this document to help resolve your issue:
Print Jobs are Stuck in Queue
For LaserJets, please visit this document to help resolve your issue:
HP Laserjet - Printer offline and unable to print on a network in Windows 8.1
Install this Microsoft patch to make sure this private-public-private network issue does not reoccur. It is part of the April 2014 Windows Update package for Windows 8.1 and Server2012 R2 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2919355).
If you experience this issue before you apply the patch, you must manually reset your network settings for this patch to function. Please refer to the above documents for manual reset help.

  • I can't print anything from Firefox. I get blank pages

Ever since I downloaded the previous update, I can't print anything from Firefox. I just downloaded version 3.6.8 and I have the same problem. I am using a Mac with OS 10.6. Whenever I try to print an email or a web page from Firefox I get a single blank page.
I can print fine from Safari. Firefox worked fine until I installed version3.6.5 (or whatever the previous version was)

Thanks I will check out the site!

  • Why can I not print anything from a web page?

Why can I not print anything from a web page?

Thank you, but I still haven't solved my problem. I tried the reset suggestion. But I cannot find print.print_printer preference. Maybe the word "printer" is to be replaced with the name of my printer. But because of the warning that making any changes is a very dangerous thing to do, I hesitated to do anything.
I have located the Print to file option, but it is not checked.
This problem did not exist before the Firefox update of about 6 months ago. Today I downloaded the latest Firefox update, hoping that would solve my problem, but it did not.
Thank you for your continued assistance.

My Macbook Pro will not print anything from any program. I've reinstalled the drivers. I get an error message in Word that says, "Word could not communicate with printer." Any ideas?

Be sure to try restarting, if you have not done so since this problem occurred.  You should also power off the printer while you do the restart...
If that does not help, you can try resetting the printing system.  Open System Preferences Print & Scan (or Print & Fax) pane.  In the sidebar with list of printers, right (control) click anywhere.  Select Reset printing system.  You will have to add back your printers after you do this.

  • HP C4180 Won't Print Anything

    Hello,
I've got a Photosmart C4180 that I use with my Toshiba laptop running Windows XP.  My wife was printing some invitations she is making when all of the sudden it just stopped printing anything.  She was only printing in black/white, but it won't print anything.  She tried replacing the black printer cartridge to no avail.  Now I can't get it to print the Test Report (it acts like it is, but there is nothing on the page).  When I clean the cartridges nothing prints.  When I align the cartridges nothing prints and I get a cartride alignment error, but I am assuming that is because it isn't printing anything and thus doesn't have anything to check the alignment of.
Can anyone help me with this?  I'm usually able to get it working, but not this time.  What happens to new print cartridges past their expiration date?  I'm not sure how "old" this new one is since my wife threw out the container it was in before I was called onto the scene.
    Thanks

    Hello eschwach,
It's been a few months, but I think the culprit wound up being the "new" print cartridge was too old and didn't work properly.  I think it was about a year past it's expiration date (never knew print cartridges had expiration dates).  Anyway I went out and bought a new one and it worked fine.
Have you tried any new cartridges?

  • Canon ip6600D Won't Print

Brand new Canon ip6600D won't print through iPhoto, specifically print job tries to print but after approx. 10 seconds of trying it defaults to "job stopped." Prints fine through Web browser and all other apps. Are there hidden iPhoto printing prefs somewhere that can be deleted? Previously had a Canon i990 printer and never had a problem with it. Thanks for any suggestions.
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    Aaron:
All I can think of is to remove the Canon print drivers and then reinstall them. You might go to Canon's site to see if there is a newer driver than what you've got. Also run Disk Utility and repair disk permissions. You might try that first.
If neither help I would run OnyX and clean out both the user and system caches. Your first restart afterward will be slower but will get back to normal on subsequent restarts.
