When the iPhone keyboard pops up, there actually is no "Caps Lock" key. Double-tap on the shift key (up arrow button), and it will turn blue. When it turns blue, you know you have Caps Lock on.

  • Caps Lock delay gone?

I think for the new aluminum keyboard, Apple introduced a delay in the Caps Lock key to avoid hitting it mistakenly. I found this very irritating because I remap it to Control. In 10.5 I noticed there's now no delay, which I am very happy about. Anyone know any details on this? Is the delay gone, is it gone only when Caps Lock is changed to another key, etc.? I hope this is simply not a bug.

Thanks for workaround but it's not good with me. I think that using Caps Lock is more comfortable and to use Caps Lock that works I like, is even better .

  • Caps lock - where has it gone?

    Hello
My iPod Touch has a Caps Lock function - if I double tap the Shift key it turns blue to indicate Caps Lock
My iPhone 3G doesn't do this. Not a great worry, just a bit intrigued as to where the function has gone. It's mentioned in manuals etc, just not available on my phone

    The function is still there

  • HELP! Caps lock green light gone out?

The caps lock green light has gone out on my brand new keyboard (wireless) bought with my new iMac. It's now impossible to determine whether I'm using upper or lower case when typing passwords, and causing my HUGE problems. Searched for an answer for the last two hours but failed. Is it a faulty keyboard or have I pressed something to switch it off??????? Keyboard battery level is 95%, so not batteries to blame. I'm new to MACs

Similar problem. Noticed that the light was out. Battery level showed 100%. Removed and reinserted the batteries. Turned the keyboard back on. Now, caps lock light is again working.
Seem to be an intermittent problem.
Not nearly as annoying as the yellow tinge. Hope to get that fixed once Apple gets their act together. Quality seems to be slipping.

  • HT1338 My MacBook Pro (running Leopard 10.5.8) won't allow keyboard to type an upper case 'C' using the shift key...works fine with caps lock, or, with my Typinator workaround using double-typed lower case c (not always best). Any ideas?

My MacBook Pro keyboard won't type an upper case 'C' using the shift key... only with caps lock. Workaround has been to use Typinator by typing a double lower case c, not always the best solution. Mac is a refurbished model, which initially was fine. Apple tech helped me correct the quirk when it first appeared, but now it has returned and refuses fixes. Any ideas?

I'm willing to bet that this has something to do with iCloud.  I've been facing a frozen computer nearly every time I go into it.
In Activity Monitor I have seen two programs associate with iCloud that take up about 2.5 GB of memory (I only have 4 in the computer) -- causing everything to freeze.  One of these is called "iCloud Helper" and the other one is something like "Address Book Sync helper" -- I see parts of these names in the stuff you have posted.
I am at my wits' end with these and have written to Apple asking them to do away with these or fix them.  To get rid of the Address book sync thing I have gone into system preferences for iCloud and unchecked Contacts -- but then spontaneously it gets rechecked.  And oftentimes after I Force Quit the iCloud helper, it spontaneously turns on again.  My conclusion --- the iCloud is basically unusable.  It turns a Mac into the most useless, clogged, sluggish PC.  If this is happening to a lot of people's computers -- and I see no reason why yours or mine should be an exception -- these programs just might destroy Apple itself.
So -- I'm about to completely give up on iCloud, and I suspect that others will too unless this gets fixed.
    Cheers,
    Bob

  • Macbook Pro Caps Lock. how to relieve? i cant small caps letter use?

Macbook Pro Caps Lock. how to relieve? i cant small caps letter use?

I think I have a different problem, but it shares some similar features.
I just got my MBP back from repair for a dead trackpad/keyboard.
Things work mostly peachy now, but I noticed that the caps lock feature doesn't work. The caps lock light does come on on both my built-in and external keyboards, but neither produces CAPS when used.
Searching for this topic on the 'net is difficult nowadays due to a different issue on the new MBP swamping most older discussions.
In any case, the feature itself is gone-the hardware seems to be working properly. It even gives me the little caps lock warning if I press the caps lock key on the login screen. However, no capital letters are ever produced with them.
    Strange.

  • Blinking caps lock key

Anybody know why my caps lock key has started blinking. It isn't blinking fast and I thought I was seeing things at first but it is flashing now and then.

If you were talking about an Atari ST I would say 100% keyboard fault, the keyboard on the ST is 'intelligent' and this is the way it tells you it gone faulty - maybe similar thing going on with yours ?

  • Caps Lock Light Doesn't Work

    Hey There,
I don't know since when this happens but whenever I login to my Arch box, my caps lock light doesn't work so I can't really know if it's on or not unless I try manually. At first I thought that the light is gone but in Windows it workes without any problems.
    Any thoughts, suggestions ?

Yeah, it is Xorg 7.3 related, in my investigation I have found that this is a known issue of Xorg 7.3 so upstream is going to give a fix soon, or so I hope.

  • Caps lock delay

Snow Leopard had a thing that delayed caps lock enabling for a second or so so accidental presses were ignored.
Now I have mountain lion and this delay is gone. Both on my Macbook Pro and iMac (with bluetooth keyboard).
I can't find settings or anything sensible on it. Does this feature still exist or did Apple in all it's stupendous wisdom remove yet again a usefull feature?
I've reset my Pram multiple times already.
I, for another issue, reinstalled the Macbook a while ago and the issue persists through that.
I've reset settings (plists removal) and changed settings and back to trigger a renewal of plists.
I've installed all updates that got prompted to me. I always keep up to date.
    Nothing seems to work.
Any ideas besides learning to hit A properly? Thanks a lot in advance!

You must be the only person who likes this "feature", and you're the only person who "fixed" it to how the rest of us want it to be!
My new MacBook Pro's internal keyboard and external aluminum keyboard still have the delay (which I hate!).
Must be another problem, because it isn't like Apple disabled this delay for the rest of us who, can type correctly without "help", asked them to. Good luck in your endeavor. I wish I had your "problem"!

  • Apple AL Bluetooth Keyboard - Tab, Caps Lock, Function and Control keys just stopped working

    Hi All -
All of a sudden I get on my baby, 27" iMac OSX 10.6 and the some keys on the bluetooth keyboard do not work. Specifially the Tab, Caps Lock, Function and Control keys. I'm fine with the caps lock gone (why is it there?) but the others are useful.
I've searched all over for a solution but I haven't found one. Tried to upgrade the firmware which is fine, reset the PRAM done, checked the speech per apple support nadda.
    Please help.
    Thanks

    Hi
Go to System preferances > Universal Access > Mouse or Mousie and trackpad > and turn your Mouse keys off.
Then disconnect and reconnect your keyboard.
Note that you don't open your mouse under hardware in System Preferances, this is for a whole different group of settings
    Hope This helps

  • Caps Lock Light Broken. Well sort of.

About a week ago my caps lock light got very faint, I actually have to be in a completely dark room to see it. I assumed the LED had gone out or the keboard had become faulty. I was going to take it to my apple store to have it looked at when something wierd happened. I started my computer in windows (through bootcamp) and all of a sudden the light on the caps lock key worked fine. So, I can say with certainty this is not a hardware issue, as it only occurs in OSX. Anyone got any ideas to solve this, or know what is even going on?
    Thanks

That is strange ...even to have the led at a state in between 'on' or 'off'. Have you tried running your standard maintenance scripts or reset the SMC?

  • Caps Lock light indicator not working

The light indicator in the caps lock key on my PB don't work. It was not working when I bought my computer but seems to work fine a couple of weeks ago. Now, it's gone another time and I suspect a software problem but I can' t find anything to make it work. Any clues?

If the caps lock still "works" even though the light doesn't turn on then it could be hardware problem I suppose...but I thought LEDs don't burn out(?) so I'm curious to see the resolution of this.

  • Caps lock button issue

I'm very confused by this problem. Every 4-5 shut down and restart cycles, the caps lock light will come on at just before the log in screen. After I log in it stays lit and won't shut off. I've disabled the caps lock key in System Pref. but it still happens. Also when this is taking place I am unable to use the symbol keys that are with the numbers at the top of the keyboard. The only way to get rid of it is to restart it. I know it's not a big deal, but when I need to get stuff done, it's a pain to wait for it to star again. This all started after I installed 10.5.4, I doubt it has anything to do with it, but I guess any info would be helpful.
    Thank

I noticed that some problems don't seem to get attention. I am typing this using a bluetooth keyboard on top of my G4 PowerBook, which is hardly an elegant solution to my caps lock problem. If I spend close to $2000 on a laptop, which is close to the most I spend on any consumer product after a house and car, is it unreasonable to expect that after a mere four years, it can be repaired, rather than simply tossed aside. I am an expat living in a SE Asian country without any Apple Authorised resellers etc. When I make the trip to Thailand to get my machine fixed, I'd like to know that someone there will know what to do to sort this problem, without me being faced with the prospect of having to pay a lot of money to buy a new one or replace hardware that is not in fact needing replaced. That is why I posted on this forum. Was I mistaken in thinking that in the entire Mac using community, there isn't more than one other person having the same issue as me? Is anybody from Apple aware of this problem and do they have any idea how to fix it? I'm not seeking to be antagonistic here, I'd just like to think that somebody, somewhere out there has some idea, what has gone wrong with my PowerBook and can help me get it fixed.
p.s I sorted out the large fuzzy Apple on startup by zapping the PROM, so that doesn't seem to be directly connected to the game of green light tennis I can now play between my caps lock and num lock keys. (My caps lock key is permanently lit and when I try to turn it off, it reduces the volume of my speakers and "types" "rfr" and other such gobbledegook.)

  • Problem with Caps Lock

    Hi Mac-World,
Owning already 4 others Mac's (2 x iBook, one Powerbook and a Mac Book), I bought myself a new MacBook Pro 2 weeks ago. It has a 17"screen and 4gig of Ram.
Now the "Caps Lock" button on my new MBP doesn't work the same way as on my other computers. It appears to react much slower or I need to hit it much harder. Let's say if I would tab the button 10 times in a normal manner, it will only turn on (and put the light on) 3 or 4 times.
I took the computer back to the shop. They changed the keyboard and the parts underneath. Same thing. They have a 17" and a 15" MBP in the shop. They both work fine .
They are gonna try another keyboard this week but I fear it isn't change much.
    Anyone some ideas ?
    Werner.

    same thing here
    caps lock doesn't react normally.
i must confess it is better in my windows XP machine :(((
I must hit the key several times to make it work properly. Anyone having the same issue? I am also facing the issue with the stripes on the screen.

  • HP G42-475DX Blinking Caps Lock

    Good Day
I currently have an HP G42-475dx which was purchased about a year and a half ago. This laptop has known to run fairly hot (around 80 degrees celcius).
I was using the laptop to play music, while the screen went blank. I took off the laptop.
1st - Upon putting on the laptop, the caps lock LED blinked twice (Indicates corrupted bios). I then went to power off, and leave it off for 10 minutes.
2nd - Upon leaving off for a while, the caps lock is now blinking 5 times upon powering on (General system board failure). I then proceeded to open up the laptop and remove the CMOS battery.
Upon removing the battery, and leaving the laptop off overnight.. The caps lock is now blinking once, (which indicates CPU not functional.)
I am unsure whether the motherboard has gone bad, or if its just the CPU itself. I need to get this laptop back and running for when i start school..
Any help would be appreciated.. Thanks!

It's most likely the motherboard or a corrupt BIOS.  CPUs rarely fail.
