the caps lock light doesnt turns on my HP G62-a10se keyboard .... it used to turn on a while back but after re-installing the windows it doesnt... any help?

Hi
I had the same problem and resolved it with a hard reset as follows:
1. remove the battery and unplug the DC power adapter;
2. press and hold the power button for more than fifteen seconds;
3. plug in the DC power adapter (leave the battery out for now);
4. press the power button

    Hi lahiri,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that the Caps Lock key on your MacBook Air is staying lit as if the Caps Lock is engaged and you cannot turn it off. One article I would suggest taking a look at in this situation is attached below. If the information does not help you solve your issue, please let me know more about the situation. Are the letters you type in all caps all the time or can you adjust between upper and lower case using the Caps Lock key and the light just stays on?

  • Why does caps lock light remains on when I turn off my macbook pro?

I had a problem recently come up with my MacBook Pro Early 2011 15 inch 2.0 ghz computer. The the caps lock light initiates at boot up. When I depress caps lock the light goes off but then only allows capital letters.  All sybols associtated with depressing the cap button such as the "at" sign are screwed up.  When I turn my computer off with safe mag attached, the caps light remains on. When I remove the safe mag, the caps light goes off.  Any clues as to what is going on?
Thank you for your inputs ahead of time.

    Hi wasasa45 ,
I am sorry to hear about this issue.
At first, please try a Hard Reset as follows.
Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery, plug in the AC Adapter and start the notebook.
If the above step does not help please refer to the follwing document:
Computer does not start (Windows 7, Vista, XP): http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01443371&cc=ad&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_r1002_us...
Please follow the steps in the section that says "Symptom: LEDs glow, fan noise is heard, but display is black or blank".
If the above step does not make any difference, we will go ahead and reseat the Memory (RAM) and the Hard Drive (HDD) on the Notebook and see whether that makes a difference.
    Reseating RAM:
First we will have to try reseating the RAM.  Your Notebook should have 2 RAM slots. If you have got a single RAM Module, you can try removing that from the existing slot and place it on the other one and see whether the Notebook turns ON after that. If you have got two Modules, you can try swapping them. If that too does not work, try turning ON the Notebook with only 1 Module inserted and also by changing the slot. You will have to work the permutations and see whether the Notebook turns ON. This is to understand whether the issue is with any of the RAM slots or the RAM module itself.
Please find details on how to reseat and insert back the RAM from the following document:
General document on Steps for Removing and Replacing Memory Modules:http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=uk&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c00262554
    Reseating HDD
We will reseat the Hard Drive cables and will put it back to its actual position.
General document on Steps for Removing and Replacing the Hard Disk Drive: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=uk&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c00649950
You just have to reseat the Hard Drive cable and then insert it back to its actual position. This is to ensure there is no loose connection or static electricity accumulation. Check whether the Notebook works properly after doing this.
I am waiting to hear back from you.

    Hi Moe,
Sounds mostly likje a bad KB, do you have another to test with?
    Or...
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts (Users & Groups in later OSX versions)>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

  • HPG72-250US Power Light Blinks, Caps Lock Light Stays On

So I have been having some problems with my computer, an HP G72-250US, that I bought a few years ago.  Namely, the screen would get black and white lines on it and freeze: Here's a pic.   What the screen looks like.
A friend of mine told me that it could be a problem with the fan, so I decided I would try to take it apart.  After some success, I noticed the fan wasn't clogged or anything, so I put it back together.  When I did, the power button only turns on for a half a second, then shuts off.  It repeats this over and over again.  I noticed that the Caps Lock light stays on.  Doesn't blink, doesn't do anything.
I looked around online (using my wifes computer) and all I could find was the HP LED error codes, which mention the Caps Lock or Number Lock light blinking, but nothing about the Power Button Light.  Could it be the same issue, a CPU failure?
    Thanks for any help!
    UPDATE:
So after watching my computer for a bit, the Caps Lock Light DOES do something.  I hope I can say this correctly so everyone can understand it:
The Caps Lock Light is on, the Power Button Light is off.  For the split second or two that the Power Button Light comes on, the Caps Lock Light goes out.  The LAN connector also lights up when the Power Button Light is on.  Everything is pointing to it blinking once, so I'm still thinking its a CPU problem.  Any thoughts?

  • Balnk scrren, blinking caps lock light

dv6 laptop showing black display when turned on, caps lock light blinking. I tried unplugging the power cord, removed battery as suggested, however, problem persists.

    Hi Suzieg,
I understand you’re getting a blank display when you turn on your laptop.
You mentioned the caps lock light blinking when you turn the computer on. Here is a link that will allow you to check and see if the blinking of those lights on the notebook, match what you see in this link . A lot of the time the lights can blink in a certain pattern, I would like you to take a look at the listing of blink codes and let me know if the laptop  lights are blinking in that nature.
When you open the link go down to the section titled “ LED's near Caps Lock and Number Lock keys blink when starting notebook”.
Please respond back with your results.

  • Caps Lock light on MacBook Pro not working.

The light on my MacBook Pro's Caps Lock does not turn on when I use it. However the Caps Lock feature works fine and I don't remember changing any features that would make this occur. I checked the Modifier Keys under system preferences and all defaults are set. This is a 2010 MacBook Pro with OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.7.

It's possible that it's burned out.
I'd try a SMC reset following these instructions:

  • Caps Lock Light Blinking Twice

    hi everyone,
I have a hp Pavilion dm4-3011Tx with beats which is about 7 months old. Yesterday I woke it up from sleep and the keyboard lit up and the caps lock light would blink twice every few seconds. I held the power button down and rebooted it and when it started up the fans were running and the light was still blinking. I tried a hard reset and everything and several hours later it started again randomly...A short while later it happened again and this time I was unable to fix the problem. I have already read that it a Bios corruption but I don't know what that means. Can anyone help? Thanks. I have already tried doing a hard reset, taking the battery and the plug out, pressing the windows key and b while turning it on. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

This is for anyone who reads this forum in the future. A corrupt bios fix can be simple or a pain in the butt so stay calm and patient. I've read forum after forum and had any luck with any of the suggestions people have come up with. One way(the easy way) is to power down if you havent already. Remove the battery, and charger if plugged in. Then hold the power button for 30sec, this drain the laptop of any excess life in the computer. Once done, place the battery back in its designated place, and connect charger again if needed. I've heard this has fixed some peoples issues. If you're having my luck, it will be a little harder to fix. Nothing I read helped at all, so i had to rely on my own smarts. Now I'm saying this will work for anyone, but it did for me, so you can try, but im not responsible for any problems you may cause or come across because of it. This should only be done by someone with some computer know-how. What i did was remove the bottom cover of the laptop so i could get to the motherboard and other components. (Make sure power source is removed) This will take time, so be patient and be careful. You dont want stress any cables or circuitry inside the computer. Once you remove the cover, look for a small circular li-ion battery, this is called the CMOS Battery. This is the battery that powers your motherboard while the laptop itself is powered down. So while one would think that having your laptop off for long periods of time is fine, youre actually using up energy stored inside that small battery. Once you locate the CMOS Battery, remove it from the motherboard, remember to be careful though. Now wait about 30sec, thats what i did at least. Once time has passed, put the battery back in its place. After that re-place the the cover and anything else you may have removed. Once done, re-place the battery and/or charger and power on. This is what worked for me, it may or may not work for you, but let me know if it helped or if you have any other questions. Good luck everyone!

  • Laptop won't start quickly but power wifi and caps lock light keeps blinking

Hi, it has happened before too but rarely but nowadays it happens on daily purposes.
When I switch on my laptop after leaving it for 8-9 hrs, it won't start up but instead power, wifi and caps lock light keep blinking. I tried removing battery and pressing power button for few minutes but nothing happens. Then i left it like that with lights blinking and after 15 20 minutes it booted. I did same yesterday too. I left it like that it booted after 20 minutes..so My question is "why is this happening? Is it a motherboard issue or is it because of cold moisturous weather here and laptop takes time to get warm up?" Should I show it to HP Service center?

    Hi @Nishant5788
Welcome to the HP Support Forums. I see that you are having a problem getting your notebook to boot up normally. As for what is causing the problem the blinking Caps Lock should tell us what is causing the problem as it should be blinking in a pattern. This HP document Computer Does Not Start and LEDs blink has a chart that will tell you what the blink codes mean.
This is most likely a hardware issue and you can give us a call regarding repair options.  You can reach HP Total Care at 1-800-474-6836 in North America or start here if you live outside of North America.

  • 2009 Aluminum Keyboard caps lock light not functioning

    Greetings:
I bought my wireless keyboard in February 2010 and it works but lately the caps lock light has not been coming on when I hit the caps lock key. I took it to a local Apple Specialist to try to figure out what is going on and it of course worked when he paired it to his machine.
I got it back home and re-paired it to my mini (2009 2.25 mhz intel) and it worked for the day... now it is not functioning again. I unpaired the keyboard and re-paired it again and the light functions again for the time being. But if it holds to pattern, tomorrow it will be non-functioning again.
I have the latest update for the keyboard installed and I am at Snow Leopard 10.6.3 on the system.
It appears that if the keyboard goes to sleep, this phenomenon happens. Any ideas?

I think that re-pairing the keyboard does essentially the same thing as restarting the machine would do with regards to resetting the keyboard. I did replace the batteries today just to see if that would help. -- so far, the light is working still and the keyboard has been asleep for a couple of hours since I replaced the batteries. They showed 81% when I replaced them this morning.
I would like to know if this is a common problem. The keyboard always works, just the caps lock light stops working which is annoying for me because I tend to hit it by accident and the light is a good way to see that I did, in fact, hit the key.
I am marking the question as answered, but hopefully someone has a real fix for it, or Apple has a new firmware update coming soon
