My Centro's touchscreen powers on by it'self at random draining the battery. Anyone know what can cause this. Verizon replaced my first Centro and the replacement does it also.

I just found a solution and I've been working on this problem off and on for a long time. I never use my centro for email or Internet, yet it would spontaneously power down and restart, it might hang up, and it always drained power within a few hours.
On another site, someone asked the question -- was this my first Palm or did I have one previously? Once that question was asked, I was reminded that I'd had previous Palm units, each containing different applications. So, I went to apps (home button then select applications from top left screen then select Delete). From there I was able to scroll down and verify what applications I'd had on my two prior Zires. I deleted functions that didn't come with the Palm Centro (a couple of third-party apps I no longer used, Expense DB, File Info and others). I also followed the solutions posted by others to turn select IR to Cradle, unchecked automatically select SMS messages (phone button - Options - Preferences - Connection - Edit - then select Cradle/Cable). My Centro had Network locked, so I couldn't do anything about that. I also went to VoiceDial from Main Menu - Settings - Choice Lists and unchecked each and every category). Then I performed a soft reset, re-synced and my battery (after 22 hours shows power at 96%. I'm thrilled. I just hope the good news continues. Good luck with your unit.

Can you help me, i have no idea wha has happen to my ipad and it is also saying 'not enough storage', the touchscreen isn't working at all. If you can help i would be so grateful. Many Thanks.

Have you tried a soft-reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

I Already popped out the Sim Card & let my phone sit without it for a few minutes then put it back in. Sometimes it will work again & it will say it recognizes the SIM Card but more times then not it still says it cant recognize it! So I have to take it out & reinsert it multiple times.
& I have done a complete restore 2 times & a back up restore 3 times. Nothing seems to be working.
I am planning on going to the Apple Store this week, wish me luck!

  • Centro and mysterious disappearance of HotSync

I'm using a Centro from Verizon on an Intel Mac v.10.4.11. In order to sync with iCal and the Mac address book, I've been using Missing Sync for Palm OS v.6.0.4.
I recently started up my Mac, and noticed that the icon in the dock for HotSync Manager had changed to a question mark, meaning that the location of the actual application was unknown. I searched my machine and found a folder (in a place I reserve for files I'm not sure I want to trash yet) that contained a previous version of Palm OS software that I had used with an old m515 I used to own. I took the HotSync Manager application from that folder and moved it to the current Palm OS application folder in my hard drive's Applications folder. I received the following error message when trying to start up HotSync Manager:
    Application Launch Failure
The application "HotSync Manager" could not be launched because of a shared library error: "<HotSync Manager><HotSync Manager><HotSyncLib.PPC><>"
I don't know quite what the next step is, since Missing Sync for Palm OS will not launch at all now. Help, please! I know this will eventually become an issue, because my Centro has been acting weird lately, and I'll need my desktop-based software to be the full backup that I need it to be. Thanks for any assistance with ideas on what to try.

    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

This has been a slow process for me, since I've had limited time for dealing with the problem. I've had to do lots of cleanup and maintenance on my iMac, and have reinstalled the antivirus software, have backed up appropriately all files that I know to back up (iCal and Address Book), checked to make sure I have backups of third party handheld apps, reinstalled the Palm software that came with my Centro, and reinstalled Mark/Space Missing Sync for Palm OS, and have been synchronizing my Centro for - oh - about 2 hours and counting.
I know it can take a long time for Missing Sync to synchronize, but this is ridiculous! Anyone know whether or not this is officially a crash or freeze, or if I should just let it keep going?
Please help, as I'm not sure what to do at this point. I appreciate any ideas you can throw my way!

  • Hot Synch Problems with Centro and Computer

Transfered phone numbers from old phone and added three  months of dates on the calendar.  Hot Synched and it transferred to my laptop.  Went back to Verizon and they beamed my PalmVx info into phone.  Got all the addresses and phone numbers, but it wiped out the calendar.  Now it will not hot synch the old phone numbers and addresses onto the laptop nor will it transfer the calendar data to the Centro.  Help!

Sure. 877-426-3777.  It should transfer information from the PC to the Centro and back. The question is would then be where are you syncing too? The Palm Desktop or Outlook?
If the Palm Desktop is the usermenu, (top right hand corner) set to the same user that displays out hotsync on the Centro?

  • HELP! I dropped my Centro and now all my messages are deleted - saved and all.

I dropped my Centro and the back cover and battery fell off and out. I replaced them, the phone turned back on, and I went to continue a text conversation I was having. However, when I went to my messages, everything was gone - including some very important saved messages. I tried taking the battery out again but it didn't help. Can anyone help me?

prior to the incident were you able to hotsync your phone to your PC?
if yes you can retrieve those SMS from the backup folder inside your username folder look for messaging.PDB double click and you can install it back to your phone.

Hi, when powering up my macbook pro, when the apple symbol appears the screen flashes pink, can anyone advise whats up?

You can try a system reinstall:
Reinstalling Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.

  • Javascript with Centro and trying to download an app?

There have been several sites I have wanted to go to on my Centro and it won't let me. One is palmgear cause I wanted to download an app. I get a error message that I don't have javascript and can't access the site. I chatted with someone at suppport who told me Centros have javascript already by default and that it is because the site must be using flash. Well, how can I download an app then to my phone? Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

I don't think there is any way to add a Flash player to the Centro's Blazer browser.
You can download an application (.prc file, possible inside a ZIP archive) to your PC and then use HotSync to install it to your Centro.

  • How Text Messages Are Stored on Palm Centro and possible recovery

I come from an extensive IT and programming background with emphasise on databases.  I need some high level understanding of the text messaging system on a Plam Centro system with ATT.
Questions are related to Recoverying Deleted Text Messages
    1.  Do all incoming and outgoing messages get written to the messages_database.pdf on a Plam Centro (ATT)?
    2.  When a message is deleted, would it be correct to say that the message is not physically deleted but just that a record pointer in the database (messages_database.pdb) is reset so the messages appears to be deleted?
Why I ask, is that I see a many many requests for people (myself included) of wanting to recover deleted text messages. (i.e. my 16 daughter will not email now becuase we check email but she does text unknown people constantly and it makes it very hard to keep her safe).  When she syncs her phone with her computer, the messages_database.pdb file is in the backup directory and if you open it with a text editor (notepad.exe) you can see only messages that have not beeen deleted.  She usually deletes all her text messages.  There is A LOT of extra data that appears to be encrypted and is not readable.
Is it possible that the text messages are there but just that the database record pointers hve been reset OR are Plam text messages written to RAM some how; although that does seem to be the case, since when you sync, the messages_database.pdb files has any and all messages that have not deleted.
It woul be VERY valuable (and I think profitable) if someone very high level knowledge of the messages_database.pdb file could write a PC application that would alloow you to undelete the text messages.  I know there are programs out there that can do this on SIM cards on systems that write the text messages to the sSIM card, but it is my understanding that messages are not stored on the SIM card but in RAM.
Can any high level technical Palm programmer shed some light on this for me and let me know if there is a way to recovery deleted Text Messages on a Palm Centro?
    Much Apreciated,
    Greg

     I    had the same problem.
1.Search for a program call filez.prc (give your address I can send you) copy it to a memorycard. btw [email protected]
    2. Copy it to the palm device(it works on any)  activate the program on the palm chk rom at the top and chk all message database and smstxt and also some have 0000behind em.  note the sizes as the older ones are larger and copy them to the card.
    3. to view em use microsoft word and use recover txt from any file I think it is called. You will be able to see detail but be careful as it sometime displays truncated or mixed but you will be able to see most txt clearly.

  • Hotsync Palm Centro and Tungsten T5?

    Hi, Everyone,
I am new to the forum, but have done a little lurking.  I am looking for help with a new install of Palm Desktop 6.2.2
I have had three previous Palm devices and always have trouble moving to the newer platform, but I eventually get it worked out.  I just installed Desktop 6.2.2 on my Vista computer because I got a Centro.  Although the instructions said to install over my prior desktop, when I did so, I lost all the backup files from the prior version.  I hope I can restore them from my T5.
Will the newer desktop communicate with the T5?
I read another post about using a fix from Pimlico software to make the newest desktop compatible with the T5.  Does anyonw know if I will have trouble syncing the Centro if I install the fix from Pimlico?
    Thanks, Bill
    Post relates to: Centro (AT&T)

Are you sync'ing the Centro to the same username in Palm desktop as the T5? If you are, this will cause problems on the new device. When you sync the device, it saves the device settings, 3rd party apps, preferences, etc. in the backup folder in the username folder on the PC. When you sync the new device it copies the contents of the backup folder for the old device to the new device. This will cause corruption in the settings for the new device thus causing erratic behavior of the new device.
You should be sync'ing the 2 devices to 2 different usernames in Palm Desktop so you don't have any conflicts.
    You may need to hard reset your device and rename your backup folder. Go to http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=887 and follow the directions to do a hard reset. Next before you hotsync your data back over you will need to rename your backup folder, to do that go here;
    XP
C:\program files\palm or palm one\[hotsync username]\ and rename your backup
    folder to backup.old
    Vista
Start-->documents\Palm OS Desktop\[hotsync username]\ and rename your backup
    folder to backup.old
Then hotsync to your current hotsync name and all your contacts, calendar,
tasks, and memos will come back over.
Show file extensions for XP or Vista
    XP
If you can not view file extensions on your PC I would like you to open a
folder go to Tools-->Folder Options--> View (tab) and under show hidden
files and folders uncheck hide file extensions for known file types.
    Vista
Open control Panel go to Folder Options--> View (tab) and under show hidden
files and folders uncheck hide file extensions for known file types.

Recently, I can't get any sound from my game applications.  Sound works fine with video, streaming, etc, but not my game applications.  I've tried powering down and re-booting, but the sound does not return.  Can anyone help me?

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the Music and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad above the volume switch, or via control centre : swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen and it's the right-most of the 5 icons in the middle of it (if the icon is white then it's 'on', tap it to turn it grey and 'off'). The function that isn't on the side switch is set via control centre instead : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085

    Try the following:
    - A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
If you still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order
