My Clock is wrong

Hello,
I have last years IMac 24"
My Time displays 3:04AM instead of 7:07AM
I also noticed when I boot into windowS XP, the time is wrong also.
How can I resolve this?
I tried shutting down and unplugging the iMac.
Thanks
Frank

Betty's suggestion is about the most you can do, because Mac OS X and windows use different means to set the time, and switching from one to the other causes the error.
There is a little more about it here.

Using Elements 12 for a year and had to uninstall and reinstall on same computer. Going to  the Editor I got a message that I had to sign in and register the product (again) but I got a message that the computer was offline or the clock was wrong, there was nothing wrong with either of these.  How do I get my Elements 12 working again?

  • MacBook Air won't wake up, and when it finally does the clock is wrong.

I've got a 13-inch Late 2010 MacBook Air that since yesterday has been very difficult to wake up. Battery is fully charged, but opening and closing it, hitting keys, pressing power button and clicking trackpad caused no response. Eventually it seems to wake up on its own after minutes or hours of frustration. The last time holding down the power button for several seconds seemed to finally wake the machine up (not turn it off as I would expect) – though holding down the power button had no effect previous times I had this problem.
When the machine finally decides to wake, the clock is wrong. Correct time zone, correct date, but slow some minutes or some hours. Eventually it will connect to the time server and reset to the correct time.
The first time I finally got it awake, I reset the PMU and zapped the PRAM, but those seemed to have no effect.
Does anyone have any idea what might be causing these problems? Thanks muchly!

Exactly same problem. wake up from sleeps causes black screen (not always, but often).
moving the mouse unvovers the regular login-screen. then everthing works fine.
didn't try to close and reopen thee lid. thanks for the tip!
PRAM & NVRAM reset and safe boot already tried.  unfortunately did not change anything.
    Great machine anyway!
    Thanks for any help!

    Hi,
You need to sign in when using Photoshop Elements 12 as it is the method of activation. If you sign out it deactivates that installation.
If you are having problems, see if the following helps.

  • Clock is wrong after update

Getting an error message: "if you are here, it is probably because your computer's clock is wrong."  Ergo, I can't get to the page I need.  My clock's date and time are right, but time zone was wrong-- changed & saved it, but still getting error msg

'Requires=network.target' wasn't in it so I added it but nothing's changed. I've left it in because openVPN does require network.
As I said, I had this problem with a script so I don't think it's anything specific to openVPN. I had a weird occurrence this morning however. When I started the computer up this morning  openVPN worked just fine. However when the computer rebooted openVPN couldn't resolve the host address again.

  • My iphone 3gs has started showing the wrong time  and date. All was fine until this afternoon when it changed.  My apps have the right time and date. However the world clock is wrong. I have to turn off the automatic time setting to get the right time.

My iphone is showing the wrong time and date. All was well until sometime this afternoon when it changed...  to Nov 5 (2 days prior to today), and about 9 hours and some minutes before the actual time.  The world clock for my time zone shows the same wrong date and time. My calender shows the same wrong date and time.  The phone can not find my time zone any more.   The only fix I found was to turn off the automatic setting for time.  What is  happening? Ideas?

    just sorted mine went to
    settings-mail,contacts,calender-timezone support
then turned it off then on tapped time zone and typed london
    this did sort mine

  • Clock showing wrong hour even though I followed the Beginner's Guide

    Hey guys,
So today I re-installed ArchLinux & Windows 7 on my laptop, here's how it works:
    SSD: ArchLinux x64
    HDD: Windows 7
I mainly use Arch, and the few times I use Windows, I choose to boot from my HDD instead of my SSD, from the BIOS.
Technically, it's not a dual boot I guess, so I shouldn't be affected by these manipulations
The time showed in my BIOS is correct.
The time showed by Windows 7 is correct.
The time showed in ArchLinux is however wrong, it's two hours late.
Following the Beginner's Guide I've run these command without success:
    hwclock --systohc --utc
If any of you has any suggestions...
    Thanks :]

My apologies. I thought that this particular problem between Windows and Linux was caused by Windows somehow overwriting Linux settings, and since in my case they are in different physical drives, I thought I wasn't concerned.
Anyway, since I've read somewhere in the wiki that localtime should be avoided, I successfully did the manipulation do set Windows 7 in UTC.
I've then updated the hardware clock and system clock time, but it didn't change a thing.
I'm going to try the manipulations provided by your link luvfree, thanks
I'll keep you posted, thanks to all of you, and again, my apologies for my wrong asumptions
    EDIT: APPARENTLY IT'S SOLVED:
I had to boot into Linux, and set the time manually with:
    # date +%T -s "10:13:13"
    Then run:
    hwclock --systohc --utc
Next boot, the time value were correct int both Linux, AND Windows
Thanks to all of you, I'll try to think more next time

  • World clocks have wrong hour

The world clocks are showing the wrong hour.
    This is my situation:
    * I live in Belgium, which is GMT+1
    * I have selected GMT+1 at Settings > Date & time > Time Zone
    * I have entered the correct hour
    * Because of Daylight savings time, the hour changed recently: 2AM became 1AM
    * I changed the hour accordingly, and noticed that the "world clocks" (Extras > Clocks) aren't showing the correct hour. Right now it should be 19:17 and it's displaying 20:17 for Brussels, Belgium.
I'm not sure if it was displaying correctly before the Daylight savings time.
    Anyone else having this problem?

I have the same issue with my Classic, especially in cities that are not affected by DST.
Unfortunately the ipod does not feature editing the time yourself. Edit for the developers just mean picking up another city, nothing else.

  • Menu bar clock shows wrong date

The date in my menu bar clock is stuck several days in the past. It's correct in the calendar widget, in the prefs, and in file timestamps.
I've tried turning the clock off and back on again to reset it, switching NTP servers, manually changing date and time zone. None of this has worked.
What's likely to be wrong, what could have caused it, and how would I fix it?

    Warren S,
There is a preference file for the menu bar clock found at ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.menubarclock.plist that you can try dragging to the desktop and then restarting or logging out and back in and see if that corrects the problem. You will probably need to reset the Date & Time Preferences in System Preferences but that may fix it.
I'd suggest it might be the computers internal battery going though I believe all the times would be off and not just the digital mode of the menubar clock along with the date would be reset.
If the .plist file suggestion works you can go ahead and trash the file on the desktop but if not just drag it back to the Preferences folder in your Library folder of your Users folder.

  • Virtualized Arch (VirtualBox) - System clock is wrong..,

In my Arch Linux VM, my system clock is either 7 hours slow or 17 hours fast (can't tell the date on it...how do I make Fluxbox display the date with the time?). This may be a problem with Arch but it most likely is a VirtualBox issue. How can I change the system clock on V-box (if that's the issue) or how can I fix Arch?
This may be a timezone issue. I live in the US, but I set "Canada/Eastern" as the timezone. Shouldn't matter because I'm in the Eastern time zone but in the interest of full disclosure, I thought I'd mention it.
EDIT: May or may not be important: I'm using Virtualbox OSE, not the proprietary edition.

As far as i'm aware, clocks in virtual systems are always wrong. I don't think it's to do with arch (although changing UTC to localtime or vice versa in rc.conf might have some effect), more to do with the timing of the CPU or something being slightly off for virtual machines due to the virtual nature of the system.

  • Correct Timezone yet clock is wrong?????

ok I Know there has been a lot said about the bug with Daylight savings time and ios4, but i am not sure this is the same issue as i do not use my iphone as an alarm clock.
However I do have the time zone set correctly, time is set to update automatically yet my phone wants to tell me it is 21:00 when it is in fact 22:00. what gives?

I should have also said that the date is set correctly and the phone has been synced with itunes, changing timezone from say London to Edinburgh doesn't help matters. My PC clock is right as well, it is just my iphone that is getting it wrong.

  • Clock often wrong

Anyone know why my clock is intermittently 3 hours slow? I'm on the east coast, have the clock set to DC time zone and to automatically be updated by Apple time. Sometimes the time is correct, sometimes the clock is 3 hours slow. Any ideas?

I believe there is an issue with the way windows saves the time on shutdown. There should be another thread in here somewhere that mentions it.
On shutdown Windows saves the time to the ... firmware i think. When the Mac OS boots it reads the time from that location, if windows messed that up, mac os will read the wrong time in turn.
I know this is all pretty vague but best i can do to explain this lol. See if you can find that other thread that explains it very well.

  • Problem with New Year & My Clock--shows wrong year

Hi, anyone else having this issue? I just checked my world clock on my iphone, as I have contacts all over the world. It all looks right except for Japan, which of course is many hours ahead of me in the EST of the USA. For London, Paris, NYC, etc. the time is right but now (at 11:26am) for Tokyo, Japan the clock says "1:27AM on 07/12/31".
Since Japan is already in 2008 as I'm writing the message It seems related to the difference in years. I hope this will correct itself when we reach 2008.

I have Sydney, Australia in my world clock, and i have the same problem. I hope it doesn't do this when it becomes the new year in Chicago.
When I first got my iphone, i called somebody and in my recent calls it said "Name 12/26/31" which i thought was weird... and every time i called anybody else the one with the funky year would stay on top.. then i cleared my recent calls and it was all back to normal... Maybe this has to do with the weird world clock dates....

  • Websites not loading correctly, clock date wrong

Yesterday I noticed the clock on my computer was 3 hours behind and the date 4 years ahead. Since then any attachments in Gmail come up with a warning as it not being trusted. Also gmail's buttons
( delete, spam, move etc) do not load the words. Then facebook does not load correctly it almost looks like html code. I have checked all settings your site has recommended. I do not have any add-ons or adblock, have cleared all cache, cookies history etc. I have all required and suggested items checked but nothing is working. Any other ideas, appreciated
