Well, I fixed my own problem in 5 minutes after posting this using control, alt, command, 8. Read it in another thread!

Try going to Settings > General > Accessibility > white on black and turn this OFF.

New Envy laptop, color seems off and very ugly

Hello, I just got a new Envy 17t Touchscreen. The new style of it, that comes with the B&O Audio. It is so beautiful. However the color is just beyond ugly. The computer takes on a brown hue across the whole screen. I've tried to find the RGB values but I think they are all 255. As when I was looking into the subject that might have been the case that one of the values was lowered. I went through the Windows recalibration tool but didn't change anything. Below are some pictures. This picture shows a plain white. The newer one (left) has the tint to it while the right (older model) has a bright and clear white. The brightness is set to max on both computers. And no, it's not my camera that's making them look different. It appears just as it does in the picture. Picture number two has a picture with color in it. It should look like a blue. While the newer one looks blue green and looks terrible in my opinon. Does anyone else have the newer model and can confirm this is how it looks for them? Is this a touchscreen thing? Or do I need to edit the settings? Thanks

Lost photos, music, email and all settings, PLS HELP!

Yesterday when I started my 12" Powerbook as soon as it turn on, all the settings went back to the original, I can't find none of my photos in IPHOTO ( It says is empty )or my songs from ITUNES( Empty also ), lost all my emails, but the weird thing is that my hard drive still the same size and my programs like Microsoft Word, Excel, and others still show on the HD, only had to be reinstalled when I clicked on them, has anyone had the same problem? Did I lost my profile???

Agree with Red Dwarf. I had came across the same situation as you do now before, i'm clueless and send my PB 12" to Apple store for the experts to check on it. Resulting that I had rename my Accounts profile where the user was 'duplicate' and it was back to normal after the guys did their 'magic' work on it. You might wanna give a shot to delete the 2nd user on your Accounts, but be extra caution as you might not wanna delete the wrong one where it might clear off the original account you have your files (iTunes, mails, Photos,etc.)

First, let me thank you very much for your response. I reset my iPhone's network settings but it didn't work, then I restored it and voilá and got messages back and forth but not internet access. Then, this morning without doing nothing out of the blue I got internet service back and messages are still working fine. Now, this is not new because the pattern repeats itself... Messages and internet access stops. Then out of the blue I get them back... messages first going back and forth and then later the internet access comes back.
I'm confused and am wondering if this is related to memory, hardware, iOS or all of the above. Any more ideas?

Access rights folders all messed up: HELP

A few days ago I picked up my new (2008 model) iMac. Yeah baby!
*Yep now the bad news:*
Because I allready have an MacBook I started migrating all kind off content to my iMac. I started out creating two accounts for my girlfriend and me. Then used my Time Machine backup to restore all kinds of files foto's etc to my iMac.
Because TimeMachine puts al these files in the account from my MacBook I copied everything from that account to my 2 new accounts and when I didn't have access I just added me with read and write access to the folders true the info pane.
(Yep I'm a Windows user and didn't know anything about the Unix way of live)
So what happens now is that when I move a file/folder it doens't move it, it copies the file. Some files/folders even ask for a password when copying. When I try to delete them I also have to putt in a password. ARGRHGRHRGH
(In finder it says: com.apple.desktopservices)
For Example:
Rights folder Pictures:
Marketeer (Me) Read and Write
Staff Read and Write
everyone No Access
But a picture in this folder
Everyone Custom
(Unknown) Read and Write
Marketeer (Me) Read and Write
Staff Read and Write
everyone Only read
I tried the disktools and to restore access rights but this didn't work and it keeps giving the same errors.
Can I fix this? Or should I just start over, copy all my files to a FAT32 external windows disk delete my accounts en import everything back?

My folders do not appear in the right place, what do I do?
Please do nothing with your folders until you do this:
Beside the word Folders is a +, click the +"
The file navigator will appear.
Navigate to the parent folder of your pictures and choose the folder.
Lightroom will put the folders in the right place now.
do i have to do this one folder at a time (there is no "parent" directory in the left panel. I could do a select all for the folders and then choose my lightroom/photos directory, but want to make sure that's what the FAQ is saying,

Deleted mailbox and all my mail - help!

In transferring from one mail server to another I accidentally deleted my POP mailbox and along with it all of my emails for the last decade or so. Is there any way to recover this? I've tried looking in library and can't find it. I also have no backed up my computer is some months. The POP mailbx is still on my phone however, along with all of those messages, if the file is completely gone from my computer, is there anyway to transfer the mailbox from my phone to my computer?

First - Don't use the computer. Don't even turn it back on until you have a CD with some kind of file recovery program. I was able to use Prosoft Engineering's Data Rescue II to recover all the mail files for a deleted mail box. You can download the bootable disk image from http://www.prosofteng.com/
You will have to purchase and download or order the disk image from another computer. Once you startup from the CD, you can recover the deleted files. You will have to place the files into their proper places in the Library/Mail folder and there will be some corrupt files. I was able to retrieve over 90% of the deleted files.

Moving files from pc to mac - directory structure gets all messed up - help

Hi, I just got my new Mac Book Pro (mid-2009) and I am having trouble bringing over my 70gb of data from my old pc. I am using VM Fusion and have also downloaded NTFS-3G. I cloned my PC HD onto an external USB HD (formatted with NTFS) and have plugged it into the Mac. I can mount the drive, read and write files from the drive, but when trying to copy files, it would start, but would not finish the job (threw an error after 50mb saying something about trouble copying a file and then froze). I called apple and they said try to do the copying through Fusion. I have one large Mac partition, no Windows partitions on my Mac drive and am running Fusion with XP Pro. I tested the copy function in Windows from my external HD to the "documents" directory in my Mac directory under my user node and small directories (.1 - 2gb) copied fine. But when I tried to copy a 20gb node, it started putting subfolders in random places within the tree structure under the root node I was copying. With 92,000 files, its hard to go re-sort the sub-folders into the right places. Why is it doing this and is there a better way? I'm leaving for 2 wk trip tomorrow and don't want to have to lug my PC with me. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks very much. Larry

You are not in a MacBook forum.
And I would use Boot Camp to set aside a Windows partition and install Windows natively.
Fusion can run Windows on the Boot Camp partition just fine.
MacFuse + 3G? or there is Paragon NTFS 7 for Mac OS X. Sometimes free is fine, sometimes commercial product. And Snow Leopard may have ability to read HFS+ from Windows (like MacDrive7/8 only that can write to HFS+ also).
Corrupt directory?
Bad filenames?
Filenames that are valid for Mac Extended may not be valid on NTFS, but haven't heard of the reverse being a problem.

Illustrator bug- menu bar all messed up, and it keeps crashing

I have the weirdest bug on my trial version- the menu bar on top appears with $$$ signs and all messed up, and crashes constantly. I tried to delete and reinstall illustrator (I downloaded a trial version of the basic creative suite with Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign, but had the bug only on Illustrator. I even reinstalled Leopard (and in the first installation it was a brand new iMac), which also did not help, so I have no idea what to do. Has anyone else had the problem or knows what to do?

i had continual illustrator cs4 freezes in relation to the menus and some file types as well. (win 7 prof 64 bit)
But I found it it worked in a newly created user profile fine.
After having shelled out 3500.- eur for the masters colletion, I was rather dissapointed to find that i have to dig into my pocket for support when the software breaks. The solution is pretty simple assumabley known and could have been answered in two lines of text instead of the useless prefab answers i got.
But first I have to join the general gripe about the stability of illustrator and flash in paticular. It is obvious that each product is created by different teams who do not share common standards. Inexplicable.

I solved the problem by replacing the entire settings folder with the one from the functional profile
C:\Users\user-name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CS4 Settings
save any custom color sets, etc first.

Colors in Photoshop (and Illustrator) are really off.

the biggest thing i noticed was that my greys were more brown than anything. I've included a sample pic that might show better the things i'm referring to.
so in the color selector dialog, the whole left side (white to black) is all tinted brown, like a sepia. this occurs in both Photoshop CC 64 and Illustrator CC. other applications like Paint.net, regular Paint, and GIMP show the normal white to black gradation with all the normal greys, so i know the monitor is displaying fine. i assume it's a color profile that i have to set or adjust somewhere, but the weird thing is that in Illustrator's color selection dialog, the square preview swatch of the color seems accurate and does NOT match what i see in the actual color "wheel". In Photoshop, the square swatch DOES match the color wheel, and both are incorrect. and weird, uploading the image to the forum here, the colors are equally screwed up (EDIT: once i hit "post" the posted images shows the blue color like it should). i'm going to try hosting this somewhere else and linking to it.
maybe someone could just check out the color 4252e8 and see if it's a periwinkle-type blue or a plumb-y purple.

Your problem is a bad display profile. The other applications aren't color managed and don't use the profile at all, so they're unaffected.
The way to fix that is to use a calibrator to make a new profile, but since you don't have one use sRGB. Set the profile in Control Panel > Color Management > Devices:
Relaunch PS/Ai so that they can pick up the correct profile at startup.

Email fonts coming from PC's are all messed up!!!

To my knowledge I have not changed any settings but for some reason the headings on email and the forwarded info (not the content) seem to be all messed up. When I was entering an encrypted word for an apple change I couldn't read what I was typing and it was rejected so I guess they couldn't read it either. It doesn't impact the day to day mail but I would like to know what this is and how to fix it! More specific-the text is small, dark and all mashed together. Impossible to decipher. IPhone 6 clicking noise coming from home button and also a little loose..anyone else have this issue or suggestions on how to handle it? Any and all suggestions are appreciated

It seems as if when I push my home button there is a loud click or a clicking noise that shouldn't be there. If I push the home button in certain areas or kind of on the side it's not so bad. Also it seems as if the button is kind of loose or wiggles a little bit and can also feel the little silver ring and seems as if it's either not on properly or the home button is sunken in pretty good. I was at the Apple Store and checked out some display models and didn't notice it on those and they all felt solid. Has anyone else had this issue or experienced this? Any and all suggestions will help greatly...I just want to know if it's normal or how I should go about taking care of it...thanks!

ok...the doctor is in!....well, yes I agree with other posts concerning "clicky" crunchy touch id/home buttons...ah... we do swaps, cleanings, alcohol wipes....NO NO NO! yes dirt can and will trap inside the extreme minor spaces around the home button and the screen cutout..yes twirling a q-tip round the button only stuffs grime deeper in, but can clean the edge...in this case, that crunch you hear (new out-of-box), its a very popular notice that most do hear a crunchy glass-like snapping sound...being that the touch id does have a sensor ring on the outer side, the actual noise your hearing is ........wait for it......MISS-ALLIGNMENT!!!! yes... pop that sucker open, remove bracket....what do you see??. touch id pressed thru and adheared around the ends of the button...and also most cases, not perfectly aligned..that noise is the actual ring brushing against the screen hole cutout causing metal and glass to bind against eachother... re-seating the button will correct the issue..being that theyre so close together, the slightest miss-alignment can cause that annoying crunchy click sound. find a swap that doesn't...ok that one works but now the silent switch is loose!!!!! ive seen it all

Finder has colors all messed up.

My problem is that when I log into the administrator account on my Aluminum iMac, all of the colors are messed up, and the screens looks like it was drawn from a comic book. This only affects the administrator account, when I log into the other accounts, the problem is non-existent. I recently installed the Facebook iPhoto exporter, would this be the problem, although I uninstalled and restarted.
Any help would be appreciated.
P.S. I tried to screen grab the desktop, but when I open the file on another user account, it appears normal.

Open the Universal Access system preference and see if the Display on the Seeing pane is set to White on Black. If it is, select Black on White and that should get your display back in order. Also make sure that the Enhance Contrast slider is set to "normal".
