It is a company phone, don't mess with it unless you get authorization from the company. The activation, and I suspect Find My Phone are all tied to the company for a reason. Unless of course you don't value your job.

yes, the software is on your Mac but it isnt licenced or owned by you so the digital rights management system Apple employs is blocking the application from being used. Its to stop illegal distribution of downloaded software.
my only suggestion is to phone Apple and see if they can transfer ownership

Then there's nothing you can do.  Only the previous owner can help you.  They must either provide the ID and password, or erase the phone and remove it from their account as explained in the article you were reading.  There's no way around this.

Sorry, did not mean to misquote you. Personally, I see nothing wrong with married couples sharing a single AppleID for purchases, and certainly many do. But it's a choice.
Actually, it does bring problem to couples, married or otherwise, when they spilt up. This forum is full of horror stories of splits and then one of the couples "locks" the other out of the Apple ID and in some cases rendering the phones useless (because of activation lock). Pettiness, IMO. But I digress .
I have found Family Sharing to be quite useful and have 4 users in my group and it has worked without a hitch since day one.

  • I cant access icloud, my email address has changed recently and I cant use any emails and passwords or set up a new id, cant get hold of apple support for help, very frustrated!

I can not access icloud, my email address changed a while ago none of my email addresses and passwords work, I have tried to get a new password but that dosent work!, tried to contact apple support, no luck there either! What can I do?

If you are trying to change the iCloud ID ("email address") you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  When you do this you may find that the password for your old ID isn't accepted.  If this should happen, and if your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, you need to temporarily recreate your old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • Can I change my email address and password on itunes but still open it with the old email and password since my husband has and uses the other email account?

Purchased iphone years ago using our only email address and recently this year my husband finally decided to get the iphone 4 using our email with no intentions on syncing it to computer.  In July I purchased the iphone4 and just recently installed the upgrade ios5 and since then decided to get my own email address but all my devices and itunes account is under our email address and not my new address.  Now he decides to upgrade his phone to ios5 and now we get each others new apps, music and if we get texted though imessage. I assume this is because we have the same email and password account.
How can i change the itune account to my new e-mail address, but my husband keep the same itunes login all on one itune account? or is this possible?

If you change the primary email, you must use that one to login in with, as the primary email IS your AppleID.
If you go to https://appleid.apple.com you can login and change your information for your AppleID account, but you will  see that the AppleID = primary email address.  So, no, there is no way to change that, and still have your husband log in with the old AppleID/email.
Your husband can still use your AppleID after you change the email addres, just using that new email and password (ie. you can both still use the same AppleID, but it now will defacto be your new email address).
Or, if it is just a means to avoid the collisions of iMessage texts, just have your husband create his own AppleID just for use with iMessage.  You can still both use your AppleID for the iTunes and App stores, but in the iMessage settings, he can use his own AppleID instead of yours.
In short - you can each have multiple AppleIDs, and you do not have to use the same AppleID for both purchases, syncing and so forth AND iMessage - iMessage settings can use a different AppleID from the other things.

I caught my phone 4. Had to buy a new one, lost all contacts, and calendar photos. how can I recover them?

What does "I caught my phone 4" mean?
All contacts, calendars, photos etc should be on your computer as the iphone is designed to be synced to your computer.
Just sync them to your new iphone.

  • I got a new sim and to activate it I need to reactivate my phone. When inputting my Apple ID and password, it's saying they're incorrect and are looking for the original details the phone was set up on which I don't have.

Got a new sim for my new contract, so need to reactivate my phone. To reactivate I've to put in my Apple ID which I have but it's saying it's not accepting it and is asking for old ID which phone was set up on which I do not have. I can't do anything with my phone as it's locked on the enter iD screen! I have already reset and verified my password but still not accepting it! Help

If the ID is yours but you don't know the password, you'll have to reset it (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5787).  If the ID belongs to a previous ownder of the phone, you'll have to either get the ID and password from them, or have them erase the phone and remove it from their account as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4515.

  • I just recently purchased a mini iPad for my child. It was set up in the Apple store with my Apple id. I now want to create an Apple id for my child and switch it over, how can I go about that. I already downloaded some of the games from my account.

With a new account, you'll need to rebuy the games.
Each user should have their own icloud account, otherwise they end up getting the same emails, contacts, calendars, notes, reminders, etc. - usually not what you want.  But if all have been sharing the same itunes ID, keep it that way, you can have different IDs for itunes and icloud.
If you already have another icloud account, and want to set it up on a device, then go to Settings>icloud, scroll to bottom of screen and tap Delete Account.  This only disconnects the device from that account, no data is lost on icloud.  Then enter the account ID that you want to use.
To create a new icloud account, go to

  • I lost my Visual Voicemail when upgrading to iphone 5. New phone was set up from itunes backup of iphone4 but my Mac tells me there is an iCloud back up of my phone prior to this date. Will my Vis Voicemail be on this and can I get it on my new phone?

I lost my Visual Voicemail when upgrading to iphone 5. New phone was set up from itunes backup of iphone4 but my Mac tells me there is an iCloud back up of my phone prior to this date. Will my Vis Voicemail be on this and can I get it on my new phone?

I see.  Apple's documentation on what is included in the iCloud backup doesn't explicitly say that it contains voicemails, but that doesn't mean it does not.  You would just have to try restoring the backup to find out.
To restore to your iCoud backup you have to start by erasing the phone.  Go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings.  Then go through the setup screens on the phone and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud backup.  You will then sign into your iCloud account, accept the terms and conditions, then choose the backup you wish to restore from.  To see an older backup, you may need to tap "Show older backups" (see image below).  Be sure your phone is connected to wifi and your charger as this may take some time to finish.
If this does not recover your voicemails, you can check to see if you have an older iTunes backup that may contain them.  Available backups are shown in iTunes Preferences>Devices on the Backups list.
If all else fails, you could try contacting your carrier.  Voicemail is a carrier feature and they may have an archive you could access.

    Hey NON-TECHNO-WIZARD
You can do one of two things. The first is to just export out the contacts and import them into each other’s account. If something is updated the other person will not be updated with the information. Now another options is using one Apple ID for iCloud Syncing and then you can still use individual Apple ID’s for store purchases. The article below will shed some light on how you can use the Apple ID.
