My computer, a PC collapsed... I may get an apple i-mac or a mini. Is-it possible to switch?

I bought the CS5 education package by phone some time ago, when working in schools.
My computer collapsed and I am looking to get an apple i-mac or an apple mini to replace it. I want to know if my licence could be switched from a PC entiltement to a Mac one.
I am  not willing to upgrade, just to swich my package to the new computer.
Thanks for your replies.
P.s. I have still the installation  CDs, however I doubt they will work with apple devices as they were made for the PC...

The 24/7 support did answer to a part of the question, which answer matches what was said to me there.
When it came to "terms and conditions" about eventually guetting the CS6, they asked me to open a skype account to "help me install the software".
As I repeated that I wanted only to know the how and abouts, before choosing any computer, I didn’t get more news... This quiet, but stuborn opposition to put things clear through a classic good and printable e-mail drives me to Plan B. "Swap with a tier"... !
If I don’t get a proper answer in the next hours, they may have lost a buy...
Thanks for those who helped.

  • How do I get iMessage on my Mac and iPad Mini to send from my phone number instead of email?

How do I get iMessage on my Mac and iPad Mini to send from my phone number instead of email? I've signed out and signed backed in on all devices but it still doesn't work. Phone number shows up on my iPhone only. Apple support article does not help, the screen don't even match mine.

    Hi believer924,
Happy Holidays!  What version of Mac OS are you working with?  The article below will explain how to confirm your phone number is linked to your Apple ID for iMessage.  On your Mac, you should be able to remove the checkmark in front of your email address in the "You can be reached by iMessage at" and "Start New Conversations from" sections of iMessage settings.
iOS and OS X: Link your phone number and Apple ID for use with FaceTime and iMessage - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201349
Your iPhone telephone number is linked to your Apple ID when you sign in to FaceTime or iMessage. This allows you to use your iPhone number with FaceTime and iMessage on other iOS devices.
This feature isn't available on iPod touch (3rd generation) and iPad (1st generation).
This feature is available with OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.2 or later.
On OS X, find out which addresses are enabled:
In Messages, choose Messages > Preferences > Accounts. Select iMessage in the left column. Your contact preferences should appear under "You can be reached for messages at:."
    OS X:
Phone number missing on OS X
If your phone number isn't listed on your Mac, follow these steps:
Update to the latest version of OS X on your Mac.
Verify that you're using the same Apple ID that you're using on your iPhone.
Sign out of your Apple ID at these locations on your Mac:
Messages > Preferences > Accounts tab. Click iMessage in the left column, then click Sign Out.
FaceTime > Preferences. Select your Apple ID, then click Sign Out.
Close FaceTime and Messages on your Mac.
Open FaceTime and Messages, then sign in to your Apple ID in Preferences.
If your phone number still isn't listed on your Mac, follow these steps:
Sign out of your Apple ID on all iOS devices, including your iPhone, in the following locations:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Sign out of your Apple ID on your Mac at the following locations:
Messages > Preferences > Accounts tab. Click iMessage in the left column, then click Sign Out.
FaceTime > Preferences. Select your Apple ID, then click Sign Out.
Close FaceTime and Messages on your Mac.
Sign in to your Apple ID on your iPhone.
When activation is complete, your Apple ID and all verified email addresses should be visible in Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and also in Settings > FaceTime.
Open FaceTime and iMessage, then sign in to your Apple ID in Preferences.

  • Computer Turns on But doesn't get past Apple Logo and Spinning Dial

    Hi everyone!
    I totally stuck!
When I turn on my MacBook the normal chime sounds, the apple logo pops up, and the dial that constantly spins appears. But it never gets past that initial screen. I've tried letting it sit off for a few hours, taking out the battery, and trying to turn it on with the Power Adapter plugged in. I love my Mac and I'm very surprised by this.
If anyone knows how to fix this I would greatly appreciate it!

    Welcome To  Discussions HSHS07!
To begin, run Repair Disk, and post the results.
THESE ARE THE STEPS FOR USING DISK UTILITY TO REPAIR YOUR HD
1.Insert the System Install disk, Mac OS X CD-ROM disk, or Restore DVD disk, then restart the computer while holding the C key. Use the System disk, of the OS, that is currently installed.
2.Once started up from CD or DVD, on the Menubar at the top of the screen, choose Utilities from the Installer contextual menu.
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from disc to access Disk Utility.
    3.Click the First Aid tab.
4.Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5.Select your Mac OS X volume, if necessary.
6.Click Repair. If DU reports errors it has fixed, re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported.
7.Repeat steps 5 & 6, but select the Hard Drive this time. It's usually the first listed with the manufacturer's model number. Make note of the S.M.A.R.T. status.
8.When finished, select Quit Disk Utility from the Installer menu.
9.Select Quit Installer from the Installer menu.
10.In the resulting pop-up window, choose restart.
11.After the computer has restarted, you can eject the CD.

  • Movies purchased on computer and home shared can be played on Apple TV but not iPad Mini.

Hi - I've recently purchased Dark Knight Rises and Toy Story 3 via Apple TV. Purchased, not rented. I then downloaded the movies on my
Computer (MacBook Pro mid 2010, iTunes 11.0.1). I then home shared the movies on the computer.
I can see and play the movies on Apple TV and the computer. However, those movies do not appear under the Video app on my ipad mini. Other movies, including ones I purchased recently, show up and play just fine on the ipad mini.
The default resolution is set to 1080p in iTunes on the computer. The computer is running OSX 10.8.2.
    Any suggestions?

I think I've isolated the problem. The shared videos that are missing from the ipad mini "Videos" app are 1080p. I thought the ipad mini could play 1080p, or at least downcode to somthing it could display.
    Maybe it can't.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Navigate to Settings > Computers > Your Library on the Apple TV, you may be told you will lose all synced content, but you can't doing anything abouty this, you won't lose any purchased content that has yet to be transferred. Then select Settings > Computers > Connect To iTunes, note the passcode that appears on screen, click on the device in iTunes and enter the passcode when prompted.

You may have to try deleting all the music from your phone (by going to Settings>General>Usage>Music, swipping All Music and tapping Delete), then sync it all back on with iTunes in order to fix this.

    You should be able to:
Disable automatic syncing of devices (Edit > Preferences > Devices)
Backup the device to the new installation (Right-click device > Back Up)
Transfer your purchases into your authorized library
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer
Restore the device from the backup
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in the apps.
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup!

If you are having an immediate problem with ads popping up see The Safe Mac » Adware Removal Guide and AdwareMedic. If you require anti-virus protection Thomas Reed recommends using ClamXAV. (Thank you to Thomas Reed for this recommendation.)
Open Safari, select Preferences from the Safari menu. Click on Extensions icon in the toolbar. Disable all Extensions. If this stops your problem, then re-enable them one by one until the problem returns. Now remove that extension as it is causing the problem.
The following comes from user stevejobsfan0123. I have made minor changes to adapt to this presentation.
Fix Some Browser Pop-ups That Take Over Safari.
Common pop-ups include a message saying the government has seized your computer and you must pay to have it released (often called "Moneypak"), or a phony message saying that your computer has been infected, and you need to call a tech support number (sometimes claiming to be Apple) to get it resolved. First, understand that these pop-ups are not caused by a virus and your computer has not been affected. This "hijack" is limited to your web browser. Also understand that these messages are scams, so do not pay any money, call the listed number, or provide any personal information. This article will outline the solution to dismiss the pop-up.
    Quit Safari
Usually, these pop-ups will not go away by either clicking "OK" or "Cancel." Furthermore, several menus in the menu bar may become disabled and show in gray, including the option to quit Safari. You will likely have to force quit Safari. To do this, press Command + option + esc, select Safari, and press Force Quit.
    Relaunch Safari
If you relaunch Safari, the page will reopen. To prevent this from happening, hold down the 'Shift' key while opening Safari. This will prevent windows from the last time Safari was running from reopening.
This will not work in all cases. The shift key must be held at the right time, and in some cases, even if done correctly, the window reappears. In these circumstances, after force quitting Safari, turn off Wi-Fi or disconnect Ethernet, depending on how you connect to the Internet. Then relaunch Safari normally. It will try to reload the malicious webpage, but without a connection, it won't be able to. Navigate away from that page by entering a different URL, i.e. www.apple.com, and trying to load it. Now you can reconnect to the Internet, and the page you entered will appear rather than the malicious one.

  • Miracles of Mac: So True This May Get Too Real

    Hi,
Had to share this story about my Macbook Pro.
It was a stiflingly oppressive August afternoon in South Carolina. After years of fear and self-loathing, I'd decided to buy my first Macbook Pro. I gave the details of the computer I wanted to which the phone sales rep replied, "This computer is gonna be smokin!' A short time later, it arrived and it was glorious and all that other stuff you already know.
On February 9th, just under six months later, disaster struck. Simple as spilt coffee stupidly sucked down next to my freaking computer so ****** still. I'm sorry, my verbal skill dips when my mind becomes gripped with the rage that returns on thought of that damned day.
So, long story shorter, the local New Hampshire tech service (Apple-authorized retailer, por supuesto) pronounced my beloved computer fried and forever lost. As time went by, I learned to be grateful for my old Sony Vaio. "Some people don't have computers at all," I'd catch myself mumbling to strangers after one too many sleepless nights. I still can't bring myself to put my coffee on the table whether a computer is there or not. This can be uncomfortable in many social situations.
Joking aside, here's the crazy part. I actually didn't even go to pick my computer up from the computer tech support service until May. Had little motivation after hearing I needed a new Mac. So, finally, I picked it up. Naturally, I brought it home, charged it up, and tried to reboot it. Again, wouldn't let me get past the sign-in. Still fried.
For whatever reason, I kept the computer plugged in and charging for maybe 2 or 3 weeks. Then, I turned it off and put in a drawer. I took it out two nights ago. Plugged it in, tried logging in, and BAM VOILA PRESTO--it logs me in. It tells me the clock is set to 2001 and this may make some programs run funny. COMPUTER WORKING LIKE BEFORE.
Not an iMiracle but a real miracle--ya know, like with the Voodoo. Seriously, I actually did make a voodoo mini-MacBook Pro doll, partially for fun but partially for like serious. Annnnnd, just kidding. I was about to get really weird with that. Had to share this story because it was an incredibly exciting turnaround and perhaps, it's a reason for someone else to hope.
    Sincerely,
    Auld Illyich

Still pernament damage may have occurred that will show it's face later.
My experience has been that people from South Carolina are typically extremely conservative, the Mac is a good quality computer that if the right model purchased and well taken care of, should last considerably longer than a average quality PC.
There are a few hidden tricks, one is not to eat or drink anywhere near the computer.
Two, is to use external keyboards, mice and the Superdrive as little as possible, to keep the wear and tear off the hardware.
Three is to keep ones greasy fingers off the monitor, make sure nothing is between the monitor and case when it's closed and generally keep the machine safe from shock and damage, the cord especially since it tends to lay on the floor and be subjected to being stepped on, animals etc.
AppleCare is a must and the battery replaced in reasonable time before Apple cuts off replacement, extra power cord as well. One day a decison will have to be made to not upgrade the operating system, but since Apple has been pretty much neglecting older hardware anyway like the PPC and 32 bit Intel processors in OS X Lion, a user really doesn't have a choice in the matter.
Because Mac's don't get malware all that easy, require always on anti-virus like Windows does, seriously adds longevity to the life of the computer.
    Good Luck

  • Upgrading to Lion, used cloud, now my apple mail no longer syncs on my computer. Can't get any apple mail to come in. Mail window not working properly. Connection to Internet fine. Anyone know how to fix this issue? All worked fine until I opted for Cloud

    Hello,
I am using a MacBook Pro. Bought in April 2011. Upgraded to Lion, OSX 10.7.3
I have an Apple mail account that synced with a gmail account in my Mail Program.
I then chose the CLOUD activation. I can find my mail if I go to cloud.com but I no longer get any Apple mail delivered to my Mail program on my computer. My gmail account syncs just fine. In fact, the Mail program doesn't even open any longer when I double click. I have to go to the Mail menu, select Message Viewer to even view my mail program now. The Internet connection is testing fine using the Connection Doctor. But when the Connection Doctor program just whirs for eternity and never finishes checking the accounts.
Is this a bug? Do you have to set up your mailbox again for Apple mail to get it to sync after having mail hosted on the Cloud? Or does hosting on the Cloud mean I now always have to go the hassle of logging in at the cloud site to even access my Apple mail?
Any ideas out there? I am sure there are Mac geniuses, the real ones, floating around in cyber space and would love to get some intelligent directions to solve this new issue.
    Cheers
    Anne

I would like to add that Comcast is my internet provider. Perhaps that is part of the issue although the Connection Doctor confirms the mail box is connecting to the internet. No other function processes when Connection Doctor program is used to find the source of the issue. I have read forum posts but am unable to find a way to get my Apple mail to be delivered to my computer. It worked fine up until I chose to transfer mail to the Cloud. My mail account is a .mac account.
Still hoping someone out there can help me.
    thanks,
    anne
