My computer - Apple IMAC OS X version 10.5.8 KEEPS FREEZING
At first it was just the mail but now EVERYTHING freezes each time I try to do things - even I photo.
I clear my cache each night and my history and every 2 or 3 nights I reset Safari.
Why is this happening and what can I do?
A Restore disc is the one supplied with the machine (usually a gray one) which can install the operating system (the version the machine was shipped with), additional software, fonts, and can run the Apple Hardware Test.
In case you upgraded your OS from the version originally shipped with the machine (Panther, Tiger) in order to run Disk Utility from the optical media, you'll need the upgrade disk or retail disk for Leopard. You should never try to repair a drive with a previous version of Disk Utility respect to the currently installed OS.

My computer is running SO slow. The intermet also keeps freezing up and I have to turn airport off then back on/refresh before it will work again. I dont have enough space on my start up disc to run certain programs. It will say I need to quit programsin order for things to run. Easiest way to fix? Im not great with computers!
Running mac os x version 10.6.8Easiest way is to have an external drive to which you copy the things you store like pictures, movies, and music
which take up a lot of space. Then delete them fron the main drive and clean it up with one of the maintenance utilities. You can readily access the external drive's contents whenever you wish.

Hard drive replacement is usually quite affordable.
Apple's drives are a little pricier than ones you buy yourself, but you can be sure you get one that meets all the specifications and is hooked up correctly. On some iMacs, using the wrong drive and/or not hooking up the integrated temp sensor leaves the fans running on maximum at all times.
But once you have your Backups under control, there are few more things on the "usual suspects" list.
Have you simply filled that drive too full?
Are you running out of RAM memory, forcing RAM to be simulated on the Hard drive?
Has there been a RAM failure that has reduced the size of memory available to you?
Are you seeing any Kernel Panics? -

I have never been so upset with an application! I swore by Firefox before but now I might just go back to Safari. I'm not willing to ge into the innards of 2 computers to try and fix things. I just want to revert to the last 3 series Firefox I had before downloading Firefox 4.

Marc-AndréSnow Leopard breaks quite a few drivers - my Canon exhibited the same problem.
I eventually found updated drivers on the Canon website. You can try that with the HP, but if the all-in-one is more than a year or so old, don't hold your breath.
You can also try Software Update to see if it will offer new drivers, or failing that go to the Support Downloads site and search for HP updates.
In fact there's a new one for HP at the top of the list just now.
You may not necessarily want the latest one, though - check the specs to see if your model is covered; if not, search for the previous update etc. -
My iMac 10.6.8 w/ snow leopard keeps FREEZING/CRASHING??
ok lets see if i can type this without my computer freezing.
SO. to begin, i have a iMac 10.6.8 which also has snow leopard. I have recently downloaded many things, that ended up not working so i deleted them. I dont know if thats whats been slowing it down (the downloads still being installed but deleted from trash?) but lately my computer has been very glitchy. I dont have apple care or whatever, so i cant call.
This morning there was a "software update" so i decided, whatever, i'll do it. When i did, i rebooted and now my computer is freezing like a mother.
It is VERY ANNOYING and i dont know how to fix it. It just freezes randomly to. I go on safari for a minute, freeze, then hold power button to reboot.
or i click on another thing, freeze, hold power to reboot.
pretty much everything sets it off. I need to know WHY!? i have had it for a long time and its never been this bad. Another thing that sets it off is runescape. i play it from time to time when im bored, and now it freezes every time. but runescape isnt the only thing that freezes it, it freezes on everything else to. its so frustrating!!!!!!!!
i dont know what to do!?

i dont know what else to do. is there something i can download to clean up un-used apps. or unistall items?

How much RAM & free space do you have also, click on the Memory & Disk Usage Tabs.
In the Memory tab, are there a lot of Pageouts? -

ThanksiTunes syncing generally goes one way, from the iTunes library on the computer to the iPod.
You cannot transfer song files from iPod to computer using iTunes, except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store. However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer. If you do an Internet search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
Once the song files are on your computer, you can add them to your Mac's iTunes library.
If you still have access to your old computer with your previous iTunes library, a more complete way to transfer your iTunes library is from computer to computer. You can post back if this is possible and you want to do it. -
I am running an Apple imac G-5 with OS 10.5.8. Processor: 2 GHz. Memory: 2 GB DDR SDRAM. I am getting the message that my version of Safari is no longer working. I downloaded a newer version of Safari and I got the message that it would not work with my OS 10.5.8. Does any one have a suggest

I recently brought a iMac OS X version 10.7 PC, when I try to run Scott Trader real time streaming quotes, it contantly *****, and causes all other widowns frozen, please help me to resolve this problem, or i have to give up this PC and return it to the store....
thanksI use e-trade and a couple of times, years back, I found them behind the Java updates.
So, now I install new Java platforms on my backup disk and test the streaming data on that first because I know it will be over-written that evening with my nightly backup.
Of course, since I began doing that there hasn't been a problem. Do the same with printer driver updates.
Anyway, call ScottTrade and howl! Tell them how many Macs are out there and why aren't they in Apple Developers Program? -
