My computer couldn't find my playbook anymore after software update!!!

After software updated to 1.0.7.3312, my computer couldn't find my playbook anymore.
First couple time it could find normally as like before, few times later it could not anymore!!! LOL.
I tried connect to the other PC either in my office and home several times, exactly same happen again.
Anybody got same problem that I have? Please advice me.
My computers have Window7, 32bit.

Internal camera failure after software updates...first skype couldn't......

Hello!
I am having internal camera failure after software updates...first skype couldn't find the camera, and now photo booth also says camera is not connected. Its a brand new MacBook Pro which has been working fine for a month, but after a software update (the blinking message said i had 13 new things to update...you know what I'm talking about right?) all of a sudden Skype couldnt find a camera, so i went to the skype community and tried some things (like trashing skype) but now photo booth says no camera detected, which is weird cause the camera is built into the computer..

Application to restart computer when needed after software updates

We have a business requirement to not force a computer restart immediately after software updates have been installed. What possible solutions are there to detect if a restart is needed on the client and inform the user to restart, if nothing happens force
a restart within a few days.

Windows Update itself have this configuration. You could push the corresponding group policy to achieve it:
Locate to the following path:
Local Computer Policy\Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Update
find No auto-restart with logged on users for scheduled automatic updates installations
entry.

Why can't my Apple TV2 can't find my network connection after recent update?

I had to update the software on my Airport Extreme then reset my apple tv and that resolved the issue for me.

and then it hangs. If I change my Windows version in winecfg to for instance Windows XP, the first 2 errors disappear, but wine still hangs:

The vm.legacy_va_layout sysctl is not enabled:

Does anybody have an idea to what might be going on?
Enabling DRI and disabling DRI doesn't help. Updating to the latest wine 0.9.30-1 also didn't change anything.

Problem is solved. Had to delete the .wine folder. Lost all utorrent settings, but it works again now.

Finder freezing after software updates and uninstalling

Help!!!
I updated iTunes,Safri and an secriuty enhancement as the automatic reminder, it hang up at disk optimizing(77% competed) after installation, I had to forcely shut down, then I uninstalled several unnecessary softwares.
Then the finder froze, I failed to open any software, the coloured cursor keeps rolling and rolling.
But the folder operation is functioning.
What should I do?

I don't have an answer to fix your problem unless you have your hard drive backed up onto another hard drive, but the answer would of course be obvious if this were the case.
I would like to point out that everybody that has a computer, laptop or desktop, should have their entire hard drive backed up onto another hard drive. It should be considered as a requirement, not a luxury.
Next, before ever installing a software update, you should run the "Repair Disk" function and also the Repair Permissions function of the Disk Utility app, from the install DVD. If there is corruption in your disk directory and you go ahead and install a software update, all manner of problems may arise.
I never let the software update Install automatically. I always download the update software, then do the preventive disk repair, permissions repair, then do a fresh backup of my entire hard drive, then run the update software's installer. Now if anything goes amiss, I am not out a thing, and I am in a good position to troubleshoot. So far I have never had any problems with any updates but this method will pretty much make sure that if you do ever have a problem you are not in any trouble. Just restore from your current, fresh backup.

Computer won't turn on after Software Updates

About a month ago my computer had some Windows Updates, I installed them as per usual, it asked to restart the computer, but once it shut down, it wouldn't turn back on. I tried a few different outlets, no change (all of these outlets work). I left it unplugged overnight (8-10 hours) and when I plugged it in the following morning, it turned on and was fine until this past weekend.
Again, there were more updates, this time it was for AVG and when it went to restart, it again wouldn't turn on. I tried the same thing, and it's not coming on. The light by the power button will flash when I push the button, real quick, but nothing. The light in the back shows power going to it. I believe my computer is in the HP All-in-One 200 family, but I'm not sure which one (and though I've registered it, it doesn't tell me on my account which one I have, or I just can't find it).
Is the motherboard done, maybe the RAM, or the HDD? I don't have the money to get a new computer at the moment so I really want to try and get a few more years out of this one (I have had it for 5 years). Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

XstreamINsanity, welcome to the forum.
I always begin with the easiest possible solution. If you have System Restore enabled, I suggest choosing a Restore point before the first software updates. This may solve your problem if it is the updates causing the problem.
If this doesn't solve your problem, we will try some other possible solutions.

After today's software update my MacBook Pro won't start when the required restart is completed. I get to the "pre-login screen" where I type in my password, and then I end up at a screen saying I have to hold down the power button and then restart the computer. It also says "Unable to find driver for this platform: \"ACPI\"...
What is there to do now? Will I lose everything on my harddrive if I reboot the computer completely?

[SOLVED] UEFI-System doesn't start anymore after rEFInd update

Hi there,
got some problem with my UEFI system after todays update of refind-efi: Arch doesn't boot anymore
What have I done:
At first I did a
$ sudo pacman -Syu
During the update I was presented with the usual information concerning copying some files from /usr/lib/refind/*. So I did this:
$ sudo cp /usr/lib/refind/refind_x64.efi /boot/efi/EFI/refind/refind_x64.efi
Than I did:
$ sudo cp /usr/lib/refind/config/refind.conf /boot/efi/EFI/refind/refind.conf
$ sudo cp -r /usr/share/refind/icons /boot/efi/EFI/refind/icons
After that I rebooted my computer and was presented with an "Asrock" writing that doesn't change to the rEFInd-screen as it should.
Question: What can I do now? (And what did I wrong?)

Jepp, I've seen the new name "refind_x64.efi". During my attempt to perform a proper install I did what you assume in your first solution - renaming the new binary to the old name (refindx64.efi).
After that my system didn't reboot ...
After that I booted from my USB stick with which I've installed my Arch system. I mounted my system partitions to /mnt, loaded the efivars module and arch-chrooted into the system. From there I copied the new binary from /usr/lib/refind/refind_x64.efi to /boot/efi/EFI/refind/refind_x64.efi and did this:
# efibootmgr -c -g -d /dev/sda -p 1 -w -L "rEFInd" -l '\EFI\refind\refind_x64.efi'
/boot/efi is mounted to /dev/sda1
But even after I did this a reboot only led to the well known green "Asrock" writing - no rEFInd appeared
Using the efi shell I can see that the boot entries seem to be okay.

Try again. Be sure you are connecting to a USB port directly on the computer, not a hub, and to a rear port, not front, if you have a desktop or tower case computer. And also reboot the computer.

How to find out most recent installed software update

We recently installed the latest software updates on our intel xserve running 10.5 via the automatic software updates. The guy who installed them does not remember which updates where installed. Upon reboot we sit and sit at the gray screen with apple and spinning gear.
I can boot into single user mode, and my question is how can I find out what updates where installed recently.
Is there a location I can navigate to and just list the updates with there modified date, or is there any softwareupdate command that might list what updates have been installed.
I know this wont fix the issue, but I would like to know if anyone has an idea how I can at least determine what updates were installed.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only Guest login created by "Find My Mac."
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in Mac OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.

Finder no longer opens after recent update

Hi fellow mac enthusiasts. I sincerely hope someone can help me.
After my most recent software update I can log in but the Finder does not open. I can open other applications that are in the dock. Fortunately I have Quicksilver and I can use it as a launcher for almost all other applications (my standalone flash player is a notable exception). I can launch the terminal to move files around and whatnot, but not having the finder is a huge inconvenience right now. Sadly, I don't know what exactly the update was. I run Software Update every day and I always accept all of the updates it gives without too much consideration. I want to say it had something to do with Quicktime?
Here's what I've done so far:
booted in Single User and ran fsck - a couple of problems found and repaired
ran Disk Utility and verified the startup disk - no problems found
ran Disk Utility and repaired permissions - a few errors found and repaired
started in Safe Mode - no change
removed all finder and quicktime related plist files in the System and User Libraries - no change
Any other suggestions? As far as I can tell there's no problem with any of the hardware. Also, the problem persists across all three users (and, as noted above, in Safe Mode).
