My Computer crashed, can I pull files off iPhone?

My computer recently crashed and I had to reformat the hard drive. Does anyone know of a way that I can pull all my music, contacts, photos, etc. off of my iphone so that I don't lose everything? I have an iPhone 3G and I am running windows XP pro. Thanks,

Don't take this the wrong way, but try a search here as it has been asked many times.
Some stuff you can save, some you cannot. Backups of your data is your job and the iPhone is not a backup device.

  • Can not drag files off iphone onto windows 7 Laptop (Error: A device attached to the system is not functioning!) Any ideas on how to resolve this, Much appreciated

Connect phone to laptop, AutoPlay Box appears, click open Device to view files, internal storage, DCIM, Drag all Pictures/Videos into folder on desktop. Message pops up within a few seconds, Saying  'A Device Attached To The System Is Not Functioning.'
    Can any be of assistance?
    Many Thanks.

Is the computer in question connected to the Internet, and if so, is the Internet connection working correctly?
It is possible that Adobe Reader tries to check for updates when it is launched, then finds a faulty network connection.
Check the Device Manager for non-functioning network devices.
Also try http://fixitcenter.support.microsoft.com/ to find other potential problems on that system.

  • I have a G4 Quicksilver that no longer works, but the hd may still be good. How can I get files off the G4 hd and onto my new iMac?

I have a G4 Quicksilver 2001 that no longer works, but the hd may still be good. How can I get files off the G4 hd and onto my new late 2013 iMac?

Also, how do I boot the G4 into FireWire Target Disk mode?
First, the G4 must be able to start to use FWTDM. If it can start, hold the t key at boot until you get a "screensaver pattern" that looks like this:
If the G4 is attached via a FireWire cable to a newer Mac with a FireWire port, the G4's hard drive will appear on the other Mac's desktop just as if it were any external drive. A USB cable won't work for FWTDM.
Just wondering if the drive in my G4, which I believe may be an ATA drive will also work in an enclosure for a SATA drive?
No. ATA (actually "PATA" or "IDE") and SATA are different interfaces. PATA external enclosures are now very hard to find. You best and least expensive option is the adaptor that BDAqua linked. One of its connectors is for PATA drives.

  • If my computer crashes can I use a backup disk to recover it

If my computer crashes can I use a backup disk to recover it

there are multiple ways to recover OS to factory settings... here are we go.
    1) please try running f11 recovery which will install the OS using recovery partition. thats the easiest way to fix the issue. just tap the f11 key at the time of powering on the computer.
    2) incase F11 is not working and you have created the media, use your own recovert media which was created on same computer.
    3) incase none of them (f11 and self created dvd/cds) work and you have to get DVDs from HP. Order DVDs from HP and use them to re-install OS.
This should help get the media.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=bph07143
alternatively, Please visit www.hp.com ; select country from the bottom left handside if you are outside USA.
now please select "support and drivers" > now click drivers & software> input model number of your computer. (if the list is populated incase similar models are there in this series, select the model you have)
select the OS you recieved this with computer and click next > now you should get one option "order recovery media - select that and under that you have type of media available. select and media you want.
incase you have issue in ordering media; you can try after sometime and/or contact HP support to get the media ordered.
also for few countries or products recovery order online may not be available; in such cases, please visit region/country website ( www.hp.com and select country). click connect with HP and contact HP. email/phone support numbers are available, please contact support team to place an order for your product in specific country(if available).
hope it helps, Good Luck !!!

Since downloading Maverick I have a long hang time, computer crashes, can't use word and I can't access finder, why? Also, iTunes is horrible. While I'm listening to my music iTunes will just stop playing the song for at least 5 minutes and I can't force quit why does it do that? This is the first time I have ever felt like my iMac is just as bad as a PC and I wonder if Steve Jobs would have let the program be relase to the public with all the problems involved. No wonder Maverick was free. IT ***** BIG TIME!

    Hello, vanvu.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Since you are experiencing this issue with both a wired and wireless connection only on your home network and not at other locations, this issue would related to your router.  I would first recommend power cycling the router and testing the connection again.  If the issue persists, try updating your routers settings per the article below.

You definitely need to resurrect the old password associated with the Apple ID you used to purchase the music.
    Go here: https://iforgot.apple.com
An email will be sent to the email address associated with that account with instructions regarding resetting that Apple ID's password.
If you no longer have access to that email, the resolution to this problem becomes considerably more difficult. In that event you would need to contact iTunes Support and explain your dilemma.

Actually we are not mapping machine name something in webutil.cfg file. We just need to specify the path that from where we will transfer the file from application server to client. And the time time of transfer the path you will
choose for client webutil will transfer the file on that location automatically.

  • Can I pull songs off my iPod and put them on my computer?

My husband's iPod classic needs a new battery. The problem is that he didn't back up his songs on the computer, so the only place they exist is on his iPod. As you know, when I send his iPod in for a new battery, his songs will all be gone.
So I was told recently that there is a way to pull songs off an iPod and put them into iTunes on a computer. Is this really possible? If so, does it involve new software or hardware? Can you give me specifics? Where is this software/hardware available? Our computer is a PC running Windows XP. I want to do this for him for his birthday. Any advice you can give me will be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you!

For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.
How to copy iTunes purchases from an iPod to a computer.
For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
    See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
    SharePod is also freeware.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

  • COMPUTE CRASHES WHEN PROCESSING LARGE FILES

As far as basic operations, my G4 is running smoothly.
However, whenever I need it to process significant files, such as exporting a 30minute video from FCP as a Quicktime movie, or using Compressor to encode an .M2V file, the computer crashes. Basically, if any task is going to take longer than fifteen minutes to complete, I know my computer won't make it.
Thus far I've done a fresh install of the system software, reinstalled all applications, trashed prefs, run the pro application updtates, run disk utility, played with my work flow (internal vs. external drives), etc.
I wonder if perhaps my processor is failing, if I need more memory (though my 768MB exceeds application minimum requirements), or if perhaps these G4s just aren't adequately equipped to run the newer pro application versions.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I can't pull the dimm out due to the fact that I need a certain amount of memory installed to be able to run the software in the first place.
I've run the hardware test disc that came with my computer and it has not detected any problems.
I don't think heat is the issue as, according to the Temperature Monitor utility I downloaded, my computer remains consistant at around 58 degrees, even when performing difficult processes.
According to my activity Monitor, when I'm processing one of these larger files, I'm using as much as 130% of the cpu, but it also can remains as low as 10% for extended periods. Both seem odd.
    Any thoughts?

  • Computer crashed, how to get music off ipod onto itunes

My computer crashed, I lost everything. Is there a way to get the music I have on my ipod into my itunes? Other than just the purchased music? Thanks for the help!!
    Sunny

    Hello sunnydae,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
There are several ways you can pull the music off your iPod and onto iTunes. The first link below provides step-by-step instructions for the direct method if you have a PC as well as a few third party applications (for both the Mac and PC) if you choose to go that route instead. You can also do a simple Google search for "copy music from iPod to computer" and you should receive a number of sites that can help you out.
Just make sure that when you have your iPod plugged into your computer, that you don't hit "Erase and Sync" before completing the task of copying your music over.
Also, if you have any purchased music, you will probably have to re-authorize your computer by heading to the Store drop down menu and choosing "Authorize computer."

  • How can I get files off of a MacBook Pro stuck in sleep mode?

A bit of a backstory: Recently my mid-2008 MacBook Pro stopped working. When I try to boot it up, the screen just stays black and the idle light flashes perpetually. I've reset the NVRAM and SMC, even attached it to an external monitor, but nothing works. After a lot of research, I'm pretty sure it's a problem with the hall effect switch.
But I digress; I don't actually need this computer repaired, as I have a second (newer) MacBook Pro I can use. However, there are some files on the old one that I'd like to retrieve. And yes, I've tried booting into target disk mode, which unfortunately doesn't work for reasons listed above.
Essentially what I'm asking is, is there a way I could transfer the files off the old computer to the new one? I know, I should take it to the Apple store, but that's not really an option right now due to personal reasons. I'd just like to know if anyone could suggest another way.
    Thanks a lot in advance.

Remove the drive and connect it to your other Mac with a SATA to USB adapter. Copy whatever files you want off the drive.
