My computer crashed, I have no access to the hard drive. I have a new computer, I want to install i-tunes so I can purchase more music, but I'm afraid to attach my i-pod to the computer, because I want the music already on it saved. How do I transfer the music on my i-pod to my new computer? I don't have access to the old computer at all, just the i-pod.
I'm not real computer "savy", so easy to follow instuctions would be helpful.

Copy your entire iTunes folder from your old computer to your new one using one of the methods outlined here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527. Also copy any synced information that is not in your iTune library from your old computer to your new one (such as contacts, calendars, any synced photos, etc.).

It's not really a new computer, but the same one I've had for a while now. I had gotten a virus on my computer and took it to IT. Long story short, they had to wipe my hard drive, because of how deep the virus got in and I'm basically starting over from scratch. Yeah, fun, I know. Anything that I would need to do on the 'old' computer is not possible because they are one and the same. I have signed into iTunes and activated my account on this computer, again. I've plugged in my iPad and it transferred most of the songs and books I purchased (some are missing), but none of my apps. What do I need to do?

You transfer it from your old computer ( or the backup copy of your old computer) to the new one.
Type" move itunes library" or similar into the search bar next to "Support" or into the Google search bar and you will fins many helpful articles with instructions.

I had the same problem with my iPad, i couldn't get the newer version of itunes because the computer was too old and my iPad couldnt sync with the old itunes. You have one license.
You can download and install it on an infinite number of computers, as long as it is only installed on two of your computers at any one time, and in use on only one computer at any given time.
So in your case, current iMac, that's would mean its installed on one computer, no problem. Future iMac and future MacBook ... so if you uninstall from current iMac and install on Future iMac and future MacBook, it's now installed on two computers at a time, no problem, as long as you're not using Lightroom on both simultaneously. And if after that, you got two new computers and uninstalled Lightroom from the previous two, you're still good, it's only installed on two computers at any one time.

I would like to transfer my itunes to a new computer but only see instructions to transfer all my music over including the playlists. All my music is currently stored on an external hard drive because it is a very large library of over 30GB so don't really want the music taking space on my laptop but want to have the playlists transferred over and be able to access my music library on the new computer through the external hard drive. As Chris says... but if the media is on an external drive as above then you also need to make sure the external drive has the same drive letter on the system you are moving to or iTunes won't be able to find the files.
