  • TS1538 My computer does not recognize my iPad at all...

I have an iPad 1, have been working fine, until 2 months ago.
Suddenly, it only charges battery if it is Powered Off (it will not charge if I plug it while it is ON, or in Sleep mode). Once I Power Off, I plug and starts charging. If I turn it on while charging, I can use it and it DOES charge until 100% . HOWEVER, screen does not read CHARGING like it did before!!! Crazy, eh? Hence, this is the only way I can charge it. However, this is not the worst part!!
Worst of all, is that now my Windows PC does not recognize my iPad at all. I connect with same USB cable (tried another cable with same result) to the computer, and Windows does not recognize ANY device there. I tried to connect the cable while Powered On, while Powered Off, same results... Tryed another USB device, and it DOES recognize it with no problems. It is a USB 2.0 port, and also iTunes 10.6. Nothing.
    Any suggestions please? Thanks!!!

I wanted to add... went through all Apple tutorials to reset the iPad, check for updates, etc. No help there. Thanks!

  • HT1369 computer does not recognize my ipad?

Itunes does not show my ipad as device

Did you try quitting iTunes, restart your PC, restart the iPad, connect the iPad, launch iTunes and then see if it is recognized?
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

You cannot update an iPad 2 to iOS 5 at this time, only iOS 6.1.

DId it successfully connect to this computer before?
    Try:

    or

Also try placing the iPod in DFU mode and then try restoring

  • Itunes does not recognize my Ipad after software update. says it is in recovery mode, Itunes does not recognize my Ipad after software update.

After an ipad software update, it does not recognize my Ipad in Itunes.  Gives error 14. what to do?

You may need to put the iPad into recovery mode : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808 - you should then be able to reset the iPad.
If you haven't synced to a computer them (from here) :
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.

  • HT201263 My iPod touch suddenly stopped working. It was fine, but when I went back the screen had gone black and I was unable to turn it on. It is now unresponsive and my computer does not recognize it when it is plugged in. What should I do?

My iPod touch suddenly stopped working. It was fine earlier, but when I went back a few hours later, the screen had gone black and I was unable to turn it on. It is now unresponsive and my computer does not recognize it when it is plugged in. I thought it just needed to be charged but there seems to be a larger issue now. What should I do?

Let your ipod die. Then when it is dead charge it adn turn it back on. After that it should be fine.

  • Ipod touch will not turn on and computer does not recognize the device

I tried resetting my ipod touch, but there is still no response. I have had it plugged into the computer for a couple of days. I don't know if it is charging or what because the screen won't turn on and the computer does not recognize the device. I have downloaded the latest version of iTunes, as well as restarting my computer several times. Does anyone know what to do? I would try restoring it, but like I said my computer doesn't recognize it and itunes doesn't either. Thanks!

I just had a similar problem and tried all of the reboot techniques with no success. I knew it had to be a connection issue inside the iPod, and grasping at straws, I sprayed a little WD-40. I dried it off and let it sit overnight. Today at lunch I plugged it in to my wall charger and it began charging.
***FYI I know they don't recommend spraying WD-40 on your iPod, but it was a last resort for me. I was at the point of paying to send it in for repairs or throwing it away. I wouldn't try this unless you are ready to throw yours away too.

I have an external firewire burner; it never shows on the desktop unless I insert a CD or DVD - that icon will then show (if I have my preferences set to show those on the desktop). Hae you checked in Disk Utility (Applications > Utilities) to see if it is listed under drives?

  • Computer Does not Recognize IPOD

I have tried everything I can think of and any help would be great.
Narrative: I have two 60GB IPod, two 4GB Nano. I purchased each of them approximately 6 months ago and all have worked very well out of the box. About two weeks ago (I believe I can time it to the date of the last update actually) the two 60GB stopped being able to communicate with the computer(acutally, within two days of each other - not both at the same time). One day it worked great - the next I came up with a "USB device not recognized" error. I tried as much of the 5 r's as possible (I uninstalled and reinstalled drivers, itunes, made sure I had up-to-date hardware drivers, etc.) The one thing that I could not do was a restore as the computer does not recognize the ipods there is no way to use the restore software. The two nanos consistently have had no issues (other than not being able to hold all the information I need to carry).
I've removed/uninstalled the USB ports and let them get rediscovered - no change
Updated motherboard BIOS driver - no change
uninstalled and reinstalled itunes, etc - no change
thought about really hurting the ipod - no change sigh
Dreamed of kicking the ipod into the air Pele style - no change
Details: 60GB Ipod, Dell Inspiron 6000, Windows XP SP2, Latest drivers (to the best of my knowledge). Cable is tested (still works on Nanos and I've tried all four cables that came with the four ipods to no effect). USB ports recognizes all other devices that are tested.
I can't think of anything specifically that I left out but any help you can think of would be great. I have read through most of the posts regarding this issue; however, most of the threads have devolved quickly. About the only fix I have seen that would work is "you should have never purchased a PC in the first place, get a Mac and it will work fine." This is, of coure, not an option.

    hiya!
hmmmmm. that model is a Dell notebook, isn't it?
if so, we'd better quickly check on this possibility:

Have you updated iTunes with the absolute latest software?  If you have not in a long time, your iPad won't be recognized.
