My computer doesn't recognize my USB cord

First of all, my printer prints fine if I'm connected with my USB cord in the printer port.  However, when I connect any other device (camera or hooking up to do wireless printing) it keeps telling me to plug it in and it IS!!  Today trying to go from USB connected to wireless printer, during the set up it says "plug in USB port to computer" (or something like that).  Well, the USB was already plugged in.  It continued with that message and wouldn't go any further in the set up process.  All this time, I thought something was wrong with my camera but now I see - it's something else.  So, I tried it with printer on and printer off - no luck.  A bad port maybe?  So, I tried other ports but continued to be told I needed to plug USB cord in.  It's so frustrating-  I have a 7520 HP Printer (with all the bells and whistles).  A Toshiba laptop, and a new General Electric camera (the camera does not come with a CD to load software so it's not that).   I tried setting up wireless using the CD AND by going online to HP site but both tell me to hook up usb cord and won't go any further because it's not recognizing that it IS plugged in!!!!     Any advice....I really need to switch over to wireless because my living room is now arranged differently and the printer is on one side of the LRoom and the computer (laptop) is in the middle of the LRoom.  Oh, you need to know, I took my camera to a computer shop, WITH MY USB CORD, they plugged it in and there were all my photo files -- so it worked with their computer -- same camera same cord I am using now but it won't recognize the device on my computer.   Really puzzled - can you help me?   Much thanks!

First of all, dedicate just one REAR USB port to the printer. Stop swapping cables or ports. The wireless setup is different, and is selected during the install process ( you have to momentarily use the USB cable).

my computer doesn't recognize my iphone - i plug it in to sync it but it's icon doesn't popup in  itunes - what's wrong?

this is weird, but it ususally works for me: try blowing in both ends of your usb plug to make sure theres not any dust lurking there. do the same to the baottom of your iphone where you plug the cord into. its not a techy kind of solution but it works for me and my friends.

  • My Windows 8.1 computer doesn't recognize my iPod nano 7th generation. Why?

My Windows 8.1 computer doesn't recognize my iPod nano 7th generation. Why?
When I connect my iPod to my computer, nothing happens. I've read the tips in the section "support" and I noticed that maybe Windows 8 is not one of the operating systems that are compatible with an iPod nano 7th generation. If I'm right, what can I do if my only device is a Windows 8?

    Hi, Grafiti.
Thank you for the question.  Below, I have attached a couple troubleshooting articles that will help resolve the device not being recognized by iTunes.

I have an 11" MacBook Air.  When I plug in my VGA adapter to my Thunderbolt port, the computer doesn't recognize it ... unless I reboot the computer.  Is there another way to get the computer to recognize the adapter?  (It works with my MacBook Pro)

Thanks for the useful feedback, Knucklesmac. I agree. I must have blown something on the logic board -- because I had a faulty old KVM switch that would not switch between computers without some nasty hot-plugging/unplugging the VGA video cables. (wince!). It's like when Dizzy Dean ruined his arm because a line drive hit him in the foot and he readjusted his mechanics around the injury. I take the blame because this has been a great computer, and does not deserve any blame.
If it will help anyone else reading this thread, C2G (née Cables to Go) has some interesting ideas for still getting external video out of this computer:
    -USB-to-VGA
    http://www.cablestogo.com/product/30545
-Convert s-video or composite video signals to high resolution VGA
    http://www.cablestogo.com/product/40971
The price range is $75-$85, which doesn't make horse sense to me for such an old computer -- which has a lot of life in it anyway, because its own 15" monitor is not chopped liver.

  • Media Encoder doesn't recognize Behringer USB mixer

I just purchased a Behringer Xenyx X1222USB mixer to  use for live stream events using Flash Live Encoder on my MacBook Pro.  Flash Encoder doesn't recognize the USB input from the mixer.  Other I know the computer recognizes it since I went into the Audio Settings and can see the USB input there with audio levels.
I use Yosemite platform.  Any help needed as soon as possible.

So, it looks like Media Encoder is stuck in a trial version?  The only formats available are indeed .f4v, .flv, .mp3 & h.264.  Is a reinstall of Media Encoder the fix?

  • My iMac doesn't recognize by usb keyboard since I installed security update 2015-002

I installed Security Update 2015-002 on my iMac and since then it doesn't recognize my usb keyboard (I'm typing this with a bluetooth keyboard). I rebooted, unplugged and plugged back in the keyboard all to no avail.
    My system:
    Yosemite 10.10.2
    Mid 2011 iMac 27"
    3.4 GHz i7
    16 GB RAM
    Keyboard: Apple extended USB
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Mine works okay.
Do a backup, using either Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure files/data can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
Try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear and again when you log in. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don’t do them all at once.

  • Computer doesn't recognize my Zen Mozaic

I have a new Zen Mozaic MP3 player (about 2 months old). I have been using Windows Media player to transfer music from my PC (XP OS) to the player without any problems until now.
Now my computer doesn't recognize the MP3 player as being connected to the USB port. I uninstalled the Creative software that came with the player and then reinstalled and it didn't fix the problem. Also I've tried connecting other flash dri'ves and the computer recognizes them.... Also, shutting down and restarting the PC didn't help either.
Is anybody having this same issue?
    Any help would be appreciated.

Don't know if this will help but if you are not using the usb port that came with your player the computer may charge but not? reconize the player. At least that is what is happening with mine.
same as to what i was thinking. if this is really the case, i always do stick with its original accessories like the usb port.

  • My computer doesn't recognize my iphone and it shows up the apple and nothing is working. What can I do ?

My computer doesn't recognize my iphone and now my iphone displays the apple and I can't use it. What can I do ?

First, try to do a hard reset of your phone. (Hold down the Home button and the sleep/wake button at the same time for about 10 seconds. When the screen flashes and the Apple appears again, release the buttons.)
If that doesn't work, then you may have to put your phone in restore mode.
Power off your phone and disconnect it from the USB cable.
    Close iTunes.
Then press and hold the Home button and while keeping the Home button pressed down, connect the phone to the USB cable.
Continue to hold the Home button pressed down.
After a few seconds, you should see the display prompt you to connect to iTunes.
After that, you should be able to restore your phone from iTunes.

Here is a general overview of what the troubleshooting will entail:
    1. Start with the iPod Troubleshooting Assistant
If you haven't already done so, use the iPod Troubleshooting Assistant that applies to your iPod. This will often solve your issue.
If you're still experiencing the issue after going through each of the steps in the assistant, continue with the steps below in this article. The most likely solutions are listed below (for both USB and FireWire (IEEE 1394) iPod connections). Check each section starting from the top of the list to see if that is what's keeping your iPod from appearing.
Note: To determine if your iPod syncs via USB or FireWire, check the table in the Additional Information section below.
    2. If your iPod displays an exclamation point folder or sad iPod icon
    3. Charge the iPod and make sure it is getting power
    4. Secure the iPod's connections
    5. Disconnect other USB Devices

    7. Place the iPod into Disk Mode
    8. Determine which format the iPod is in

  • My computer doesn't recognize my iphone as a device

My iPhone 4S is full and I don't want to buy more storage. I am trying to move the photos on my iPhone to my PC (Windows 7) but when I use my USB cable to connect the two devices, my computer doesn't recognize the iPhone as a device under "Hardware and Sound." It does, however, realize that it's connected to iPhone when I dig around in the Control Panel tab. iTunes thinks I need to reconfigure my phone (sorry, not an option, iTunes!). Help!?!

Have you tried connecting to other USB port?
Once connected, an "autoplay" windows dialog box will appear asking "XXXX iPhone" import pictures and video, open device to view files, etc.
You can select either or to copy photos manually you can go to my computer and under portable device will show your iphone and go into to see all your photos and videos.
