My computer dosen't even detect my iPod mini

When I plug my iPod in, my computer dosen't even detect it. This is really odd.. What the **** can I do? I can't restore it, update it, nothing! I needs some help! It is formatted for Mac, but I can't format it to Windows if my computer won't even detect it...

Have you installed the software that came with your iPod on the windows machine?
Secondly, remember that the iPod will lose all of its songs and data if
reformatted.
If you want to go between Mac and PC, you may want to look into Mediafour's XPlay which allows Mac-formatted iPods to play seamlessly on PCs. I've used it for my 3G iPod and it works perfectly for me. Apparently video transfer support for the 5G is not possible yet. http://www.mediafour.com/products/xplay/default.asp

  • TA27580 My computer is no longer recognizing my ipod mini. How can I sync it to my computer?

I had a different computer, which I had to leave behind, when I moved,  that was in sync with my ipod. I have downloaded itunes onto a computer here in Houston. When I plug my ipod into the computer, it charges but does not appear on the computer. I cannot sync my ipod to a new computer. Is there anything I can do to get my ipod to sync?

    Hello royalaqua,
I do think you should ask yourself if upgrading to Lion is the right course to take.
Snow Leopard is an excellent OS and Lion has literally been frozen out after barely a year.   Remember too that some of your apps may not work with Lion (those that have Rosetta, for example) so that could mean more new purchases.   Plus you may need to uprate your RAM too.

  • My Computer/iTunes does not detect my iPod -- week long problem

I have been trying so many different things. the 5 R's. Reinstalling USB Mass storage device driver. Tried the C:\Windows\INF directory for updating the driver for the iPod under device manager. Reinstalled iTunes, and iPod (from disc) many times. Any solution I could find i tried, but nothing worked. I know the usb cable is not the problem.
someone please help me with this.

I really don't believe in Vista that you would need a driver that is from a disk. The latest drivers are installed in Windows and it should have recognized it without insertion of a disk. It may be that the driver on the disk is the one causing the conflict for the device. It may be something older that is causing a conflict in Vista. I've not tried to connect my iPod to my laptop (the only machine I have with Vista), but I do have iTues installed on it. I didn't have to insert a disk with my XP machine when I got my iPod.
You said the iPod shows up in device manager. Since you say you tried to reinstall the USB driver, you must have uninstalled the iPod in device manager? If not, you might want to connect the iPod, and then go into device manager and remove it. Let it try and recognize the new device. Do you get an error when it recognizes the new hardware, saying it won't work properly? Let me know and I'll try and work further.

  • My computer can no longer see my ipod mini.

I bought my ipod about 2 weeks ago. 3 days ago i found that whenever i plugged it in to the computer, itunes would start up, it would start syncing with the ipod and then i would get the "blue screen of death" from windows and my system would restart. every time it reached the same point the computer would restart (with the blue screen).
now the computer will not see the ipod in any way, though something happens because the ipod recharges each time.
I also cannot reset the ipod. toggling the hold switch followed by pressing menu and select results in nothing, no matter how long you hold them.
otherwise the ipod works fine at the moment.

Hi Jim... what is the text in the BSOD? Not all of it but the key issue?

If you are in the USA (is that Pearland, Texas), with iTunes 10.3 and iOS 4.3.3 or later, you can download your previous purchases directly to your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or computer.

  • Ipod mini 2nd gen 1 gb: not detected by laptop (win 7 64 bit), if detected: error during autofill and cannot be restored, please help :D

My laptop does not detect my ipod mini (2nd gen 1 gb), when i connect it the orange light flashe 2 or 3 times then nothing happens. if ever that it will be detected by my laptop and when i sync music on it there will be an error and itunes will suggest to restore it to its factory setting and if i choose to restore it error 3194 happens. so my top priority of course is for it to be detected then fix the latter. please help any will be much appreciated

This is an Answer for a Possible Solution. It worked for me and is still working. The issue I was having with my 64 bit vista, was Apple Mobile Device Service was not being installed, I dont know why. But I disabled any active running program through MSCONFIG, to allow a clean uninterrupted install of ITUNES 8.02. This allowed AMDS and drives from ITUNES to install. Hope this works for most of you.
APPLE, please review your Support Methods. Re-installing doesnt help an issue that resulted from installing.

  • Moving iPod Mini songs to computer with burner

Help...The original computer I used to purchase my iPod mini songs from the iTunes store is no longer in working order and I need to get the majority of my Mini's songs onto my new computer so I can put them in iTunes and make new playlists, burn c.d.'s, etc.
How do I do so? Is there any way to get my songs off my iPod Mini and onto my new computer?
    Thank you
    S.J.

If old computer to new computer, via iPod:
In iTunes preferences, select iPod and enable for disk use.
Drag and drop the iTunes music folder to the iPod icon on the desktop.
Plug iPod into new computer, and double-click the iPod. You can then copy songs to new system
To copy from iPod to computer (on a PC)

  • IPod mini to iTunes

My G4 powerbook was stolen a few weeks ago, along with my ENTIRE iTunes library... :-(((( However I still have some of the music from my library on my iPod mini. Can I transfer ANY of this into the library on my new computer? I now have an iMac Intel desktop. Can I even use the iPod mini with the new computer without losing all the previous music in the reset?
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Thanks, I had already managed to retrieve a few iTunes store purchases that were on the iPod, but the rest is mostly a selection of music I'd collected over the past four years from CD's etc, most of which I've given away now:-(

  • IPod mini problem...Any suggestions?

As of yesterday, my iPod mini will not work properly. Last night, I tried to turn it on, but it wouldn't respond. I finally got the Apple icon to come up after trying to reset it, but then I got the folder with the exclamation mark. When I plug it into the computer, I get the big battery sign, with about 1/4 of it shaded in, but it is frozen. My computer doesn't recognize that the iPod mini is even plugged in. Today, I downloaded the iPod updater, but that did not help the problem. I have been reading different posts involving this problem, and everything that I have tried has not worked. If anyone has any new suggestions, please reply! Thanks.

I don't have an ipod protection program so how much might it cost to have the headphone jack fixed? Do you think restoring my ipod might help the problem?

  • Got a new shuffle, now iTunes can't detect my old Mini

I am running iTunes 5.0.1 (Max OS X) with my iPod Mini. Yesterday I bought a Shuffle to use while running/biking. I had read it was possible to run two iPods off the same machine. I put my new Shuffle in the USB slot, after it was detected - I named it and filled it up with some songs from my existing iTunes library and it works fine. The only problem now is iTunes no longer detects my iPod Mini anymore when i connect it via Firwire. Same deal even when i eject & unplug the shuffle and re-attach the Mini. I've tried updating software, re-starting etc. still no success. Any advice or is this a hopeless cause?

Try calling AppleCare at 1-800-APL-CARE and try to reset your password to you old AppleID through them, Give them your MacBook Pro's serial number to avoid having to pay for phone support. You may have run out of options to reset your password youself, but they may be able to override you hacker's attempt to keep you out by having you verify billing info stored on the old Apple ID. Any content purchased with that old Apple ID will have to be authorized for playback on your new MacBook Pro with the original Apple ID and password that was used to purchase said content. To my knowledge there is currently no way of transfering ownership of content from one AppleID to another, however after you get your old Apple ID sorted out, you may be able to change the main email to one of your own and change your password to one thats tough to crack to avoid going through this terrible experience again.
    Hope that helps :-)

Just to let you know... a few days after I made that post, I took my mini back to the place of purchase, and they had to exchange it. Supposebly something inside with the software was messed up? Just thought I would give up an update!
