Computer freezes when i connect ipod mini 4gb

i have a problem with my ipod mini 4gb (2nd gen.) for like 2months, it freezes when i connect it to my windows computer.

Hmm... See, I've tried that already (And just tried it again) and instead of allowing me to run it, the computer freezes entirely, just as it would if the "Restart your computer" message came up, only it doesn't show the text, and nor does the screen dim. The only thing I can do at that point is hold down the power button, thusly shutting the computer down. So I cannot restore my iPod that way. Are there any other ways? Or does anyone perhaps have any other suggestions?

When i connect my IPad 2 to my itunes, it sync's and the freezes during the update. Any suggestions how i can stop this from happening?

I'm not big on windows stuff, but the first thing to do is make sure iTunes is up to date, and making sure windows is up to date also.
To get the iOS, go to Settings>General>About>Version
It should be 5.0.1
Also, i just re read your question, are you using iTunes to transfer your music?

My iPod won't turn on, I've left it plugged in my iHome to charge for 4+ hours. After that didn't work I decided to plug it into my computer to do the restore feature. but when I plugged my iPod in, my computer freezes up. It stays that way and won't do anything. If I unplug the iPod my computer unfreezes.

I was having the same problem connecting to USB 1.1 on my PC. I installed A USB 2.0 adapter in my PC and plug the iPod into it. Now my PC does not freeze and the iPod works perfectly.
Not sure if this will solve your problem but it did mine.

I was having the same problem connecting to USB 1.1 on my PC. I installed A USB 2.0 adapter in my PC and plug the iPod into it. Now my PC does not freeze and the iPod works perfectly.

When I connect either of my iPod Classics my computer freezes whether I have iTunes open or not. I have a second computer which functions normally when I connect my iPods. Any advice would be welcome.

Your problematic PC, has some software or most likely the Winsocks of some plugins is in conflict with iTunes, if both PC has the same version of iTunes and Windows.
If you run the Task manager, compare both PC and see what process is missing in the good one, and that software is the culprit.
Then removed it from your bad PC, if you dont need it, but most likely you'll need it, as it is the graphic card or some video software.

Whole computer freezes when Internet connects

My computer has been experiencing the beach ball of death. But only when it connects to the Internet. When the wifi is switched off and no network cable connected then it works perfectly. However when I connect to the Internet either through my iPhone hotspot or my home broadband it slows to an absolute crawl. This does not happen to other computers on the same network. I have checked the network and it seems to be fine. Can anyone help me? I can't find similar articles. I have a mac book pro on 10.8.4

I have done as you suggest. Below is me connecting my wifi and then going to Safari and then opening a webpage. During that I got the beach ball of death twice.
It seems to have I/O errors occuring at this point. From a very quick look around this seems to involve a problem with my hard drive - although this only seems to be occuring when I am connected to the internet and I don't get the ball of death othertimes...?
Can anyone help?

My computer crashes everytime I connect to itunes. Any ideas thanks.

Windows 7 has not been released and is not supported by the iPhone. Since there are reports of iPhone owners running Windows 7 I would expect it to work.
This does sound like a Windows or computer problem, not a fault with the iPhone itself. Or this could be related to some of the changes expected in OS 3.1 which we guess will be released ahead of Windows 7 and could have support for Windows 7 as part of its enhancements. Only Apple will know and likely they aren't talking

ITunes freezes when I connect iPad or iPod

Whenever I connect my iPod classic or iPad, iTunes freezes and I have to force quit.
This happened in the previous OS and this one, and with all iTunes versions.
I'm on a 2006 iMac, upgraded to 10.7 from 10.6.8. I'm up to date on iTunes.
Any suggestions?

"The problem, as it turned out, is all about drive letters. It seems that iPods do not like to share their drive letter with other devices, even if said devices are not connected.
If you're having this problem, try what worked for me:
With the iPod connected (and CPU at 100%, of course)
Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management
Select the iPod and choose a different letter. "

ITunes and Computer freezes when ipod is connected

When I connect my video ipod to my computer (dell desktop) the system freezes, as in it will not respond to mouse clicks and keyboard (but can still get to task manager). When I unplug the ipod it comes back to life. Programs always freeze, but sometimes I am able to navigate within windows without it freezing, but as soon as a program is brought up, my computer falls to its knees.
I have the latest version of iTunes, and updater v. 1.1, (but I have not been able to update the firmware yet from v 1.0).
The odd thing is last night I was able to download several gigs worth of music to it without incident. I then tried to load movies (they were in the wrong format, but I didn't know it at the time), and so in an effort to correct that I uninstalled itunes, the ipod drivers, and the ipod updater programs several times.
I cannot update the ipod firmware because the computer freezes when the ipod is plugged in, so the program freezes as well. Kind of a catch 22 situation.
I have been over the forums and help archives for about an hour and a half now and I have come up dry.
Windows XP does recognize the ipod when the cable is connected, and the ipod flashes, "Do not disconnect", which it is supposed to do.
I suspect this is drivers/software, but I have no idea where to go from here.

That EXACT thing happened to me! 2 nights ago I'm downloading like crazy, all is well. I got on LimeWire and downloaded some videos and tried to put them on my iPod. Imported them into iTunes then tried to put em on my iPod and it completely wiped out all my songs! So I get back on, put the songs back in, and about half way through the update the thing freezes. I've re-installed everything, and have reset my iPod. Did you figure out what to do? Maybe your fix will fix my problem, too.

When I connect ipad to computer and go to itunes, it will not show my ipad on the left-hand side on itunes page. message on winzip says i need pro level winzip program.

Did you set the iPad up on a Mac? I set mine up on windows and my Mac wouldn't read it so I started over. Just a thought though, not sure if that's your problem.

I got a problem with my itunes/ipod, I believe it's my ipod.
My Itunes freezes when i connect my ipod to my computer (windows 7 Professional, latest version of itunes),
it started when i've connected my ipod to itunes and I just plugged it out when it was syncronizing.
after that my whole content (music, pic's, video's) are deleted. The default stuff is the only thing what's left on it.
And now every time I connnect my ipod classic my itunes freezes. I've installed itunes on my new computer but it keeps doing nothing..
I've tried the support pages from apple but I just can't fix this problem, please help.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
