  • My computer has stopped recognising my iPod shuffle

I plug it in directly to the USB2 port and it is not recognized. No matter how many days I leave it it does not take a charge. The common pathway to this is the USB connection. All other devices are working perfectly with my USB ports. It is all the more baffling as my iPod shuffle 1GB worked perfectly for about five months. I have spent many hours working through some of the published solutions and I can not seem to find a solution for this. I have updated my iPod software and it still will not recognize my iPod shuffle. It is most disappointing. Please help Apple.

Alright, so here's my story. I bought my 512MB Shuffle in April. It has worked perfectly fine since I got it. Last night, I updated to v1.1.2 of the iPod software, clicked no when it asked if I wanted to restart, added some songs to the iPod, then restarted. As of this morning, I went to listen to some music while out for a bike ride, and I was greeted with the red battery light. I thought it was a bit odd since I had left it plugged in overnight. I figured, what the heck, I'll just plug it in and let it charge when I get back. When I got back, I plugged it into my PC and left for a while. I came back later and went to grab my Shuffle and I noticed it was cold, which was unusual after charging for a couple hours. I plugged it back in, a bit frustrated, and it never came up in Windows. I looked at the iPod plugged into the back of my PC (a high powered USB port) and sure enough, no orange light. No lights at all. I can still slide the switch to one of the play modes (standard play or shuffle) and play music for a couple seconds before it stops and says the battery's dead again. It works.. I mean it turns on and plays music, it's just not charging or mounting when I plug it in. I tried multiple computers and USB ports, none of which worked. I would really like some help with this considering it IS my only source of portable music and I'm not going to go pay $50 to talk to tech support or have it sent in for repairs. That's half of what it's worth.
I've tried uninstalling all iTunes/iPod related software from the PC I normally use it on and reinstalling it. That didn't work. I also tried uninstalling again and installing the last known working version of the iPod software, still no results. The only thing I havn't tried is giving it a good beating... Not that I would. Anyways, I hope there's a solution to this that doesn't involve buying a new one.
Here's a rundown of the computers I tested it with.
    500MHZ G4 Cube (384MB RAM/Mac OSX Tiger)
    400MHZ G3 iMac (384MB RAM/Mac OSX Tiger)
4.2GHZ AMD 64-Bit running Windows XP Service Pack 2 (my PC)
    515MHZ Dell running Windows 2000 (256MB RAM)
UPDATE: The BIOS won't recognize the iPod, so it has nothing to do with my computer. Somehow, installing v1.1.2 of the iPod software made it so the iPod itself has USB problems. The iPod works to the extent of playing music and showing the battery charge level. I get no response at all when I plug it in, from the computer or the iPod.
I'm going to have to agree with Philip Harhay on this one. The original 10GB iPod I bought 3 years ago came with a full one-year warranty, no extra charges. I am disappointed to see the Shuffle only coming with a three-month warranty.

  • ITunes has stopped synchronizing my iPod Touch. When reserve copying begins, synchronizing just stops. Can you help me, please? I reallu don't know what to do.

iTunes has stopped synchronising my iPod Touch. When a reserve copying begins, sunchronising just stops. Usually. I tried to update iTunes, but this didn't help me. For God's sake, someone, please, help me!

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes, Sync and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • Itunes freezes when I plug in my Ipod Touch - what should I do?

I know that this has been asked numerous times, but I haven't found a solution yet. The basics:
It was working fine yesterday, but when i plug in my ipod, itunes won't recognize it and it will freeze until I remove the ipod.
My 3rd gen ipod touch, when I try to access my music and videos (my photos are still there), just goes to a white screen.
After going to settings and about in my ipod, next to music and videos, it just says loading and won't do anything else.
I've reinstalled itunes and it has the latest update.
I've restarted my ipod many times.
I don't know what else to do. Everything else runs fine, the apps and internet connectivity is all great. Can someone please help me? This has been an absolutely terrible month and my ipod crashing is the icing on the cake from ****.

  • MY PHOTO STREAM EXECUTION PROGRAM HAS STOPPED WORKING ON MY LAPTOP, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

My photo stream execution program has stopped working, what should I do?

Best place to ask would be in the iOS discussion area. I don't own an iPad, but if I did, I'd be trying to sync to iTunes to preserve the data while I sorted out the problem with the app.

  • I broke my ipod touch what should i do?

i broke my ipod, cracked screen, screen turns white when turned on, what should i do?

Well...you've got a couple of options.  A cracked screen isn't covered by the warranty on the device, but Apple may be able to repair at the Out of Warranty cost.  Price will vary depending on which device you have:
    8GB - $99+tax
    32GB - $149+tax
    64GB - $199+tax.
Option two is to take it to a third party who may be able to replace the screen for you at a cheaper price, but be warned, if you do this, it voids any warranty you would have had with Apple and if the hardware fails, they won't fix it period.

  • ITunes has stopped recognising my iPod 80GB!

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could please help me.
My iPod wiped itself of all it's music yesterday so i thought I will plug it back in and restore it to it's original settings.
Although Windows still recognises it, iTunes won't.
I have already tried the R's and they didn't work, in fact it had messed up my iTunes now .
    Please can someone help me?

After many failed ttempts over the last few days my iPod has started to work perfectly.
I followed the instructions given here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1320
I then plugged it into my mp3 "mains charger" and re-charged the battery, now it is working fine.
I cannot explain why but maybe it's worth a try?
Let me know how you get on.

  • My aperture won't open on my iPod Touch, what should I do?

Upgraded to the latest SW-version (4.3.3)
Already switched-on and off the iPod. (pressed the power- and central button for min 10 sec until the apple sign appeared)
Don't know it anymore. Would appreciate some help.

Do as the manual tells you to do and restore the ipod.
If you are unable then type "unable to restore" into the search bar at the top of this page by Support and read the resulting help article.

  • My computer will not recognize my ipod touch 4g and will not charge it.

A short while ago, my computer simply stopped recognizing my iPod touch 32gb 4g. When I plug it in to any USB port, nothing happens. Same if I try to plug my iPod into an adapter. I have tried everything both apple and the previous discussions have covered. I've uninstalled everything pertaining to apple or iTunes and reinstalled it. I've tried going into revoery mode, I've even tried running an independant driver without iTunes. The funny thing is, if I go into settings-general-reset-erase content and settings, the iPod will charge, but it won't reset. I figured that out by accident trying to wipe my iPod to reset it. Any ideas? Please help, I'd rather not have to spend another $300 for another iPod. Another note, my iTunes will find the iPod over WiFi. I don't know if that helps any.

  • I washed my sons ipod touch, what do I do?

I washed my sons ipod touch what should I do?

First, do not attempt to turn it on.
Next, there are numerous sites with advice on what to do next. The one that makes the most sense to me is to leave it in a bag of dry, uncooked rice for a few days. Keep it all in a nice warm place, but not too hot. Around 90° F is about right. Whatever moisture is in the Touch may escape and be absorbed by the rice.
I believe there is only a slight chance of rescuing it.
If you purchased it with a credit card that has one of those accidental damage agreements, you may get some resolution from pursuing that claim.

I would like to transfer the music that is already on my iPod touch to a new computer.  At present, my iPod touch is not recognised on the new computer.
It doesn't quite work that way. Transfer your music from the old computer to the new one. Then, sync the iPod.
