My computer hates me...help me tame it...
I'm not even sure where to begin, so I'll start with the most frustrating.
1. When trying to burn a dvd of my own video in idvd it gets to the part where it's done processingthe movie and preparing to burn and then I get the spinning color wheel and it's fozen, so I force quit.I've seen other people talk about getting an error code but that doesn't happen, it just freezes. I've had my mac just about a year now and still haven't burned a dvd.
Along with that, when I put in a store bought dvd to watch, sometimes I'll get the color wheel and have to for quit. I put the dvd back in and it works fine. Other times it works on the first try.
2. When ever I import audio into itunes from a cd it has a nasty clicking popping noise when songs get really quite or in between songs. Imported mp3 work just fine.
These three things lead me to believe something is wrong with the superdrive...how about you ?
So with all this I go into mac halp to try and get some anwsers. The window opens but the only things that load are the spotlight section and you can click home. If I type something in the spotlight and search, the little grey disc spins but nothing ever loads. I can click home and go through all the other helps except mac help, of course being the one I need to access. Any suggestions anyone could give would be greatly appriciated...thank you...
It sounds like it certainly could be hardware. Same thing happened to me with a 1st gen. iMac G4 with a SuperDrive that went bad and the symptoms were very similar to what you describe.

Computer freezes -- PLEASE HELP
Each time a new song starts on my iTunes, about 10 seconds into the song my memory usage for iTunes will shoot up from 53,000K to 85,000K and will cause everything I am doing on my computer to freeze up for about 5-10 seconds. Like I said, this happens for each successive song. I have a 13,000+ song library and did not have this problem with iTunes 4.9 -- I recently updated to 5.0.1 and started experiencing this. So, I tried uninstalling 5.0.1 and reinstalling 4.9, but the same problem was now happening there as well. This is NOT a problem with my hardware, it is more than sufficient to support this usage, and happens even when iTunes is the only program running on the computer. PLEASE HELP, it is very annoying to have to stop what I'm doing and wait for 5 seconds each time a new song starts.
Boot from your original Tiger cd and run Disk Utility Repair Disk from there - it can repair directory problems which can't be fixed from normal Disk Utility.
If that doesn't work, an archive and reinstall of Tiger might be best - it's pretty simple and can save weeks of trying to track down and fix an obscure problem. Just make sure you thoroughly backup first. Check Apple's website for instructions http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120. Disconnect all peripherals while you reinstall.
Once Tiger's reinstalled, download the combo update from here http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/ (Note - don't use Software update for this). Re-attach peripherals one-by-one to see if anything is still upsetting Tiger.
I would then recommend you install third party software Macaroni, http://www.atomicbird.com/ to automate the necessary admin tasks needed to keep OSX in tip-top shape.

Attachments dont download from Gmail in Safari, They disappear,I even tried re-downloading Safari and that download disappeared, it is not in my downloads folder, I actually searched in finder for the file and it is nowhere on my computer. Please help!
Oh my gosh I had the EXACT same problem, and for ages I couldn't figure out how to fix it until today. Here's what I did:
First I went onto my computer, opened itunes, and un-installed tumblr, vine and kik. These were the apps I was having problems with (it said I had them on my phone but, like you, they didn't show).
Then I went to the itunes store, searched for each one, and it said I could update them so I did (just FYI: for tumblr a window popped up saying "please click ok to confirm you are 17 years or older", so I did that also)
When I went back to my phone and tried installing them again (still on my computer), it worked!

Nevermind, I got it working.
I ended up extracting the new vob within MPEG Streamclip, which gave me an m2v and an aiff audio. I multiplexed those two back together in FFMpegX which gave me a complete VIDEO_TS folder with BUP and IFO files I needed. -
I performed a software update and the system is installing an update but it has been running for over 24hrs and keeps saying "This may take a few minutes, don't shut down your computer" Can anyone help?
Hello cor-el, thanks for your reply. I changed my settings for downloads to desktop and it has appeared on there. When I double click I am asked which program I want to open file. I click firefox and another box "opening install" says I have chosen to open the file which is an application and do I want to save it. This is the only real option so I press save file. I get a box saying this is an executable file which may contain viruses - do you want to run. I press ok and the final box showing C drive file name and desktop appears stating application not found.
This happens the same whenever I try to install.
To my untrained eye the application is not being recognised as an application and I cannot work out how to get it to do that.
My plugin is still showing as out of date.
Is there anything you could suggest. Thanks for your time. -

Lost my program on my computer ... help!
I had some computer problems ... several programs lost ... including my palm calendar. I have a palm centro. I can see all my calendar "name" and it has files ... however, I can not open Palm desktop. I have tried to reinstall from this website however, I continue to get the following error message: Error1316.A network error occured while attempting to read from the file c:\windows\installer\palm.msi Can anyone help???

If you are desperate to "search whole file system" you'd look for
"eclipse.exe" on windows" and "eclipse" (executable file) on Linux or Mac.
If you downloaded a zip or tar file and simply unzipped it "in place"
the default is it'd put everything in a folder (where the zip or tar
file is) named "eclipse".

I'm using an iMac with the newest OS X Yosemite. I tried to reinstall Creative Cloud, removed all the programs. But I still get the 'old' 2014 version with the Lionhead, not the Sunglasses (october 2014) with interactive libraries. I use Adobe iPad apps, for instance Adobe Brush, Adobe Shape and Adobe Color and it's so great to have all the things you make with these apps in your Illustrator & Photoshop libraries. Somehow it worked om my laptop, but not om my home computer.

You should be able to copy them over to your Mac's iTunes by connecting the iPad to it and doing File > Devices > Transfer Purchases (that should copy PDFs and epubs that are in iBooks, not just actual ibooks) - does that not work ?
