Welcome to Apple Support Communities
First of all, install OS X 10.7.5 from the Apple website > http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1582
After installing OS X 10.7.5, open  > Software Update, and install updates. This is often caused because there's a 10.7.4 update for some Macs that is installed with 10.7.5, and this makes a conflict that stops the update installation

No. You must connect your iPad to a computer (it does not have to be yours) in order to restore it to factory settings.
Once you're home, you can restore it from a backup.

  • Installing software update

I am trying to install software update and when I am just about done with about 22 minutes remaining, I get an error saying that Yosemite was not installed. It then gives me "logs" and asks whether I want to save them to diagnose the problem. I am not sure how to fix this and am not really a tech savy so and detailed help is appreciated.

    Try this:
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks or Yosemite without erasing drive
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks, or Yosemite
OS X Yosemite- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Nokia Software Updater -- Error 1402.Could not ope...

     H,
When I try to install the Software Updater for the first time to update my Nokia 6500c phone, I receive the following error message about 57% during the install process. I checked my permission keys in the registry, and they seem to have all the correct Admin permission.
    Any suggestions?
Product: Nokia Software Updater -- Error 1402.Could not open key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\Msxml2.DSOControl.4.0\CLSID.  System error 5.  Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
It  looks like you do not have access to the registry key mentioned i.e.  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Current  Version\Run\Optional Components\IMAIL.
This might be due to  the fact that you may not be added to the Administrators group or the  registry key has been denied access explicitly to a group that you may  be part of.
People in my network setup were facing the same issue,  and we fixed the same using Microsoft's "subinacl" tool. You can follow  the below mentioned steps to rectify your issue as well:
    1. Download Microsoft's SubinACL tool from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e8ba3e56-d8fe -4a91-93cf-ed6985e3927b&displaylang=en
    2. Install the same by double clicking on the "subinacl.msi" just downloaded.
    3. Open Command Prompt window through the Run Dialog Box (Start -> Run and type "cmd" and click OK)
    4. In the Command Prompt window, type in the following commands:
        i. cd /d "%ProgramFiles%\Windows Resource Kits\Tools" (Hit Enter)
       ii. subinacl  /subkeyreg  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\Opti  onalComponents /grant=administrators=f /grant=SYSTEM=f /grant=USERS=f  /grant="Creator Owner"=f (Hit Enter)
You  should see some processes happening on your screen. After the process  ends, retry the update operation you were originally trying to perform.  Hopefully, it should succeed now.

  • Install Software Updates Step fails during Build and Capture

I have run into a problem while attempting to use the Install Software Update task during a build and capture task sequence.  I have MDT 2012U1 integrated into SCCM 2012.
The Install Software steps find and use the Deployment Points fine and the Use Toolkit steps similarly are able to download their source files from the distribution points using the Network Access account.  The Install Software Updates step, however
fails with an access denied error in the CAS.log.
I have found that I can work around this problem by setting the DP to allow anonymous access.  After checking this box, the software updates install during the build and capture task sequence.  Unchecking the Allow anoymous makes the problem recur.
I would like to not have to have the "allow anonymous access" enabled on the DPs for obvious reasons.  Other packages download correctly from the DP with anonymous access disabled - they use the network access account.  Install Software Updates
is the only step that seems unable to use that account to talk with the DP.
Is this a known issue?  Is there a work around?

Thanks for the information. I will give that a try.  I do have the SMSMP & SMSSLP (not sure I need this one in 2012) filled in in the Configmgr client install settings.  Before I did that, it couldn't even find the SUP.
I am a little skeptical that the hotfix will fix my problem since most packages are downloading from the DP fine - it is only Software Updates that are failing to download.  On the other hand, it is clearly a permissions issue since allowing anonymous
on the DP resolves the issue, all be it in a way I am uncomfortable maintaining in the long run.
That KB replaces a lot of key Windows system files.  Hopefully, it won't cause more problems than it solves.
    ---additional thought
I wonder, could it be that Packages that work without this KB have package share settings with "Copy the content in this package to a packages share on Distribution Points" cleared/unchecked?  This setting is not available for patch packages
    - so I wonder if it is enabled by default behind the scenes.  That could explain why the patch packages are affected and not the other regular application packages I have are not.  All my regular packages so far do not have the
"Copy the content" box checked. Clients would be accessing the packages differently I suppose based on whether it was through a packages share or through the new SCCM 2012 package storage thing with the hashing.

  • Installing Software Updates for Leopard 10.5.5

Hello, I am having difficulty installing software updates on my Macbook.
I get updates each week regarding my software. I click to install the updates, the computer restarts and begins to install the update, and then the screen that shows the installation progress seems to stop at a certain point on the installation status bar and remains like that for hours. When I try to refresh the screen or move around my cursor, the status bar remains the same and it never seems like the installation was completed. I end up forcing a shutdown and then restart the computer.
As a result, I am not sure if the software update is ever completed because everytime I try to update my software, the same things happens. Anyone know why this is happening?

See http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2383 which implies you should download and install the 10.5.6 update; however, I recommend that you copy the Upgrade folder's contents to another folder, rather than putting it into the trash, restart, and then try Software Update again. Note that the Update folder contains installers for previously downloaded updates, which you might want to retain. Once you update everything, you can move everything except the index.plist back into the folder.

Each time I attempt to download the new itunes 10.5 I keep getting the following error message:
Product: Apple Software Update -- Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
Any Ideas of how to solve this one?

After reading all these posts, one by one did not resolve my problem until I got the very end.  Regardless of what step would resolve your problem, these are the steps I would recomment to everyone for a what seems to be a safe and fool-proof upgrade to iTunes 10.5.
    1. Stand alone upgrade to the latest Quicktime version
    2. Go to control panel and "change" then select repair to the following applications in the order specified by the post on Oct 27. (Notice I skipped Quicktime because it had been upgrade manually, and Bonjour did not have a "repair" option)
iTunes; Apple Software Update: Mobile Device Support; Apple Applications Support
Some of these applications may not appear if they do not apply to your configuration (no iPhone, or no iPad, or other apple devices).
Once all updated, I did not need to restart nor launch any applications, I simply went straight into the 10.5 upgrade, and where it normally got stuck, this time the installation continued for a while longer until it completed successfully.
Great work everyone who contributed!  Thank you very much!

I have created software update group (around 10 updates\patches) and deploy it to 'unknown computers' collection. Ts 'Install software update' step scans through and only installs 2 updates out of 10. I have kept deploy property as 'required' while publishing
on 'unknown computers' and 'install software update' has 'All Software update' selected (other option is mandatory update'). I want to have all the 10 required update to be installed . any idea what should be the settings on 'deploy' prperty for software group
that install all the updates in the group during 'install software update' step? Any pointers will be appreciated
    Regards,

    Hi,
Yes , they need a reboot and reboot is happening automatically. I believe, once reboot is done, other patches should take over with installation. I don't see any information for another updates that are part of same software group. For these 2 succefully
installed updates log has below that indicates they reboot and finish.
    WUHandler has log:
