My computer is broken and I have a new one. I would like to update the software on my ipod touch but im afraid it will sync afterwards and i will loose all my data. Is this the only way?

I have an ipod touch 4g 64gb currently running 4.2.1. I would like to update it to the latest available software without syncing my ipod with itunes as I am using a new laptop that doesnt have my music, photos, videos etc on its itunes library. And so I do not want to loose all my data on my ipod.

My old computer crashed and I was unable to recover my music from it. I do not have a back up of m itunes librarymeither. However, I have all my music on my IPod Touch. I have purchased a new computer and installed iTunes on it and have authorize the computer but only the songs I purchased from apple sync up with the ipod. I have a new laptop and do not want to lose my music on my ipod when I sync. Some of the music is not purchased from itunes - its from my CD collection - last time I lost everything on my ipod and had to manually put all the music back onto itunes.

In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it. Or turn on Windows 7 and 8 iTunes menus: iTunes- Turning on iTunes menus in Windows 8 and 7.

The answer is very simple: You were not the original owner of the phone. Target sold you a phone that had been returned. You can verify the date of the original sale here: Apple - Support - Check Your Service and Support Coverage. I suspect you will find that the warranty expiration date is not one year from the date that you bought it.

Windows XP can't import video files larger than 500 MB using Camera and Scanner Wizard. You can transfer these files from your device by selecting them in My Computer and dragging or copying the files to your computer's hard drive.
