  • USB device not recognized when I connect ipad to computer??

    I haven't had a need to connect it in quite some time, so I don't know what's going on, but my adapter is MIA at the moment, so I figured I'd just connect it to the computer to charge it, but when I plug it in, my computer won't recognize it    anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix this?

    Most USB ports n computers do not provide enough power to charge an iPad. You need to use the wall charger and plug that into a known good wall outlet.
    The iPad will not show up on your computer like a hard drive. Start iTunes on your computer and plug your iPad into the USB port on the computer. You should see the iPad recognized in iTunes.

  • IPad not recognized  by my Dell computer

    My iPad is not being recognized by my laptop.  I have used the USB port to try to transfer pictures in my laptop to my iPad but it does not recognized or even show that the iPad is connected to the computer.  Additionally, the indicator for charging states "not charging".  The iPad had already been replace once for a malfunction but I suspect they (sales/technical individual) failed to recognized that the iPad does not charge with other computers, so my original iPad had been replaced.  How do I get this one to "register" with my computer?
    Thanks for any advise.
    EO

    The 'not charging' is normal. Very few computers have a powerful enough USB to charge an iPad (technically it does charge, just very, very slowly, triggering the 'not charging' warning)
    Like the others have suggested, try different USB ports, if you're using a hub or extender stop and plug it directly into your computer. Uninstall and reinstall iTunes. Then go through those troubleshooting and restore protocols.
    SInce computer configurations vary from person to person there's no single quick fix. You just have to try and work your way thorough stuff to get the driver back.

    Hello, osbybass.
    Thank you for the question.  This alert can mean that iTunes is recognizing applications on the iPad purchased by another Apple ID.  If anyone in your household has an Apple ID, try authorizing the computer with their Apple ID and attempt to sync.  If you are still experiencing issues, go through the troubleshooting steps in the attached article.

    Hey lightc,
    If you are having an issue with iTunes not recognizing your iPad and iPod on your Windows computer, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -

  • My ipad shows in itunes but not at all in my computer or device mgr

    no sign of it on the pc (xp home)  but recognized in itunes     not charging message as well from usb2

    It does not have disk mode so that is why it is not showing up in your computer.
    Unless you have a very recent computer you do not have high power USB ports. If you connect it to your computer it will charge, albeit very slowly, if you turn the iPad off or put it to sleep and don't wake it.
    Far better idea to use the iPad charger.

  • TS3274 My iPad will not show up in My Computer

    After updating iTunes last night only to find that Apple Support services would not start, and doing a clean reinstall of iTunes and all its componants, I now have another problem...
    My iPad will not register on my computer, or iTunes.
    It wants to connect and my computer even gives the connection sound, telling me that a new device as been connected, but then the iPad asks if I trust this computer. (as if I haven't had the iPad connected to this computer for the last three years!) When I press the TRUST button it DISCONNECTS and my computer gives me the disconnection sound!
    I checked the device drivers and there is a Apple device USB driver but it doesn't give anymore information other than the notice telling me that "This device is working normally" Hows that for irony?
    Please Help!

  • I have an iPad 2 that cannot be recognized/synced by a new computer.

    I have an iPad 2 that cannot be recognized/synced by a new computer. This new computer is a public library computer since my laptop is broken. How do I get it to recognize my iPad so it can connect to iTunes and how do I update it to 6.0? Currently 4.3.5*
    If I can't update it at the public library computer, where may I take it to get it updated? I tried best buy and they said they could for a fee but they were idiots and knew a lot less than what I knew. They kept thinking it could update itself but I told them that only 5.0+ can. It has no self update feature. What store or place would be able to do this? I would ask a friend but they probably do not have an iOs device.
    My nearest apple store is a three hour drive away near chicago.
    At this point, I do not care if my iPad is wiped.

    Perhaps you are running into issues with library rules.  I could easily see that they would limit ability to install new software/hardware on their machines.  Only other suggestions I can offer is a friends computer, or maybe the apple store.

  • IPad I: USB Device Not Recognized

    My iPad is not recognized by my computer (USB Device Not Recognized) or iTunes.  The cable works fine and all other iPods are recognized.  I can't update my iPad or sync.  I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling/verifying other components etc...everything that I can find recommended for this type of issue.  Are there any other possible alternatives or could this be an inner component of the iPad that requires repair?  Naturally, this occurred after the warranty expired.  Any help will be appreciated.

  • New computer does recognized another iPOD library on network, not mine

    I build a new computer. When I tried to reinstall iTunes another iPOD was recognized, not mine. Now I cannot connect my iPOD as the primary, but rather just see the music as a secondary iPOD. Customer service as never seen this before.

    I have read this, but it does not help. My crashed computer had my iTunes library with MY iTunes ID. The new computer and iPad that i want to transfer my music to, that is on my iPod, is under a different iTunes account. Can I still transfer my music from my iPod to a new computer that has a different ID?

  • IPod is recognized by iTunes and computer, but wil not sync songs

    iPod is recognized by iTunes and computer, but wil not sync songs. I have about 1400 songs and just got 40 more, and before I bought those 40 my iTunes was wiped out. I still had the files so my iTunes was filled up again. Now, when I connect my iPod to the computer it is recognized and then it says "do not disconnect" then after a few seconds it says "ipod update is complete- ok to disconnect". but it did not upload any songs. How can I make it work?

    If your iPod shows up in Explorer under 'my computer' try changing the drive letter:
    -- Click on Start=>Control Panel=>Admin Tools=>Computer Management=>Disk Management
    -- Right-Click on the iPod and select “change drive letter”
    -- Choose something further along in the alphabet that is unused (Usually, “M”, “N”, “O” or something similar)
    -- Safely eject the iPod
    -- Reboot the PC
    Then restore your iPod to factory settings.

    You may have to do this several times.
    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.

  • Every movie purchase through iTunes fails to transfer to my iPhone or iPad and the message I get is this: some of the items in the itunes library, including were not copied to the ipad because you are not authorized for them on this computer... help?

    For a couple months now, every movie purchase through iTunes fails to transfer to my iPhone or iPad giving me the error: "some of the items in the iTunes library, including were not copied to the iPad because you are not authorized for them on this computer". I have read many forums about deleting, reinstalling, de-authorizing and authorizing my iMac through the iTunes store. Many suggestions don't work except to rename the movie to *.MP4 in Finder under the iTunes movie directory. I imagine this is a setting or a bug somewhere... any suggestions on how to bypass having to rename the files in Finder? My research into Google suggests this problem dates back to 2007 or so but it is now more prevalent than ever.
    Thanks.

    Ive updates my itunes and dropbox (on computer) today to see if this could be the issue and its not..
    Please help or any suggestions are very appreciated

    No, your iPhone and your iPad should not appear in the finder.
    I'm not sure what you mean about downloading photos with iPhoto being double handling, but you can download direct to a folder with Image Capture. Image Capture can also be used to delete photos from the Camera Roll on the iPhone or iPad (preferrably after they are downloaded).
    You can remove the photos you synced from your phone with iTunes by syncing again with an empty folder, That will delete all the photos that were previously synced that way, replacing them with the contents of the empty folder (that is, nothing). This will not effect photos takes with the camera on your iPhone.
