My computer is running soooooo slow!
I use both Safari and Chrome and in both OS everything runs slow. I can leave the room after closing out a program and to go to another room and back and maybe the program will be closed by then. I ran the etrecheck but I am not well versed in computer talk. I can however follow directions if there is anyone out there who could help. Here is the etrecheck report. For the way you are using your computer, more RAM might help. The 2 places I’ve seen recommended most to buy reliable RAM are below. I have purchased RAM several times from Other World Computing and have always been very satisfied with the product and service. They have on-line instructions on how to replace the RAM. OWC has also tested RAM above what Apple states is the maximum. I now have 6GB installed on a machine supposedly limited to 4 GB.

Problem description:
My computer is running very slow ever since I switched to Yosemite. I get the multicolored wheel just opening my browser at times and waiting for a page to open, or an application. Any ideas other than rebooting my computer to get the problem to alleviate for a few days?

Problem description:
(MacBook Pro 15” late 2008, OSX Yosemite 10.10.2 installed, no pending updates) computer is running very slow - takes 2-3 minutes to open apps such as Pages, even when no other apps are open. Randomly freezes and becomes unresponsive, requiring forced power down. Randomly logs off. Removed Kodak AIO software via Clean My Mac2, but BonjourAgent still there and requesting access. Cleaned weekly with Clean My Mac2 and running Sophos AntiVirus. 2GB memory installed. Currently 169.99 GB available of 249.2 GB capacity.

you can uninstall them, but do not need to uninstall them. you should probably wait a few months to make sure all your peripherals and plugins work with the cc 2014 versions before uninstalling cc.

Running mac os x version 10.6.8Easiest way is to have an external drive to which you copy the things you store like pictures, movies, and music
which take up a lot of space. Then delete them fron the main drive and clean it up with one of the maintenance utilities. You can readily access the external drive's contents whenever you wish.

I don't know why my computer is running very slow and keeps freezing all the times. It would take at least 2-3 min to load up after the not using it for 5 min. For instance when I type my paper or doing anything on the computer and leave for a fews min after come back it would not start and the icon keeps on spinning.
ThanksPretty much all "clean-up" utilities will just make things worse.
You need to determine what it is that is causing the problem.
How much RAM do you have?
For the following, report what you get when the system is running slow and beachballing.
Open Activity Monitor (Utilities folder) and click on System Memory tab at the bottom of the screen. What does it say for Page Outs?
Also, at the top of the window, select All Processes. Click on the %CPU header until the arrow points down. Anything pop up at the top of the list that is using a very high percentage of CPU?
What you describe can be caused by incompatible third-party software. Boot into Safe mode and see if the problems still exist. Safe mode will be a little slower than normal, but you shouldn't see the system freeze up.

Everytime I tried to click something on my computer screen, this thing would jump over to the reading list. Then, after awhile, my computer was running really slow. So, I decided to shut down my computer. Then, I turned it back on. When I tried to log on, everything was on caps. But, my keyboard was not on caps lock. Two days ago I installed Mavericks to my MacBook Pro. The computer is very, very slow. I did not have that problem before. For example, if the computer is slow, which specific actions are slow? Is it slow all the time, or only sometimes? What changes did you make, if any, just before it became slow? Have you seen any alerts or error messages? Have you done anything to try to fix it? Most importantly, do you have a current backup of all data? If the answer to the last question is "no," back up now. Ask if you need guidance. Do nothing else until you have a backup. -
I would like to get the 3.6 version and uninstall the 4.0 version computer running slow
Here's the process to roll back:
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, download and save Firefox 3.6 to your desktop for future installation. http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older
Close Firefox 4.
You could install Firefox 3.6 over it (many have reported success) or you could uninstall Firefox first. If you uninstall, do not remove your personal data and settings, just the program.
Unless you have installed an incompatible add-on, Firefox 3.6 should pick up where you left off. If there are serious issues, please post back with details.

I have a mac 10.5.8 and it has been very slow lately. I often get the rainbow wheel when using it and recently I have had to restart the computer alot because it seems to freeze. The only other open program besides Safari is the finder which i cant seems to ever shut off. I'm not sure if this is an interent connection problem or if my mac needs servicing.
Please begin using 25 Ways to Speed Up Your Mac you will almost certainly find the cause there. The first place I'd look though is how much RAM your system has, if you never upgraded it that could be the problem. Macs ship with a minimum amount of RAM so it's possible a simple RAM upgrade would help. Use the article though and methodically go through the suggestions.

I have been trying to download music from zippytune, but once I click on the "download" button, it takes for ever to load the next tab to download the song. I've been using this site for the past year and a half and have never had a probleme. it is only now that I have noticed that my Mac has been running slow. Please help!!!

Computer is running very slow.
Is there some software or proceedure to speed up the computer. When I am on the internet, it takes quite some time to open new pages.
