My computer restored MY phone with a different phones content how do i get my stuff back
I went to back up my phone, and my computer restored my phone with someone elses content.... how do i get all my stuff back? its like i pratically have a whole new phone.
This didn't happen by itself.
If there is more than one iPhone or iOS backup available with iTunes on your computer or with your iCloud account, you choose the backup you want to restore the iPhone with.
You must restore the iPhone again and this time select the correct backup.

And then when my phone turns back on, pictures and stuff are gone up to a certain date (which must be when I last did a back up. I tried to update my 3G but it also made me restore the phone. How can I get my contacts back?
Or am I stuck with old contacts/apps from four months ago? Even my texts are gone. Any help is appreciated!
if you werent using an over-the-air solution, such as MobileMe, Gmail, or Yahoo, etc. Which would have sync'd your contacts, then your solution would be to restore from backup...
to do so:
plug your phone into the computer, and right click on the phone as it shows under Devices, and click on "Restore from Backup..."
this will give you the option to restore from the last backup, or a previously stored backup.

PS. Sync often to get multiple recent backups, in case of any hardware/software failures, as has occured with your device. -

future reference import your pics to your PC, that way you can always sync it back using itunes

I reinstalled my OS and now it wants to empty my phone. How can I get it to back up my phone without removing the data?
You can't. But if you backed up your computer prior to wiping it out, you should be able to restore your iTunes library, contacts, photos, etc. from that backup. Once you do, you can set the phone up again and just sync everything from your library back to it.
If you didn't back the computer up either, you can transfer items purchased on the phone into iTunes, and if you set up at least one contact in whatever application you sync your contacts to on the computer, it will offer to merge the address books on the first sync, saving those. Any media you'd acquired from sources other than the iTunes store will have to be re-downloaded from the source or re-ripped.
The iPhone is NOT a backup device. -
My ipod touch 4 has been freezing/shutting down alot so i press the top and middle button to restart it. Its been a while since i plugged my ipod to itunes so i just did and there was a problem syncing/connecting to itunes? I had to restore it, and when i did everything is gone! All my contacts,& photos. I got my music back by syncing it. but i dont think i backed up my contacts/photos??? how can i get these stuff back? and i use pinger/textfree for texting so is there a way i can get contacts back with that?
- If you backed up then restore from backup. On your computer go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and see if you have a backup dated before you had the problem. On the restored iPod go to Settings>iCloud>Storage and Backup and see if you have aback dated before the problem.

You should transfer all purchases to your computer. File>Devices>Transfer Purchases

There are three kinds of "stuff" on your machine:
• Mac OS X - System, Library, and the standard Applications, and the hidden unix files
• Applications you added - these will mostly be in Applications, maybe a few in Utilities
• User files: These will be ONLY in the subdirectory off /Users with your login name -- nowhere else..
There are two kinds on "getting rid of it". Tilde ( ~ ) represents your username.
• I am keeping my machine under my control, I just don't want that stuff in my face.
For this, you can drag the contents of a few folders inside you Users folder to the Trash.
1) /Users/~/Documents
2) /Users/~/Downloads
3) /Users/~/Pictures
4) /Users/~/Music
5) /Users/~/Movies
• I am changing this machine to different ownership, and I want that stuff unrecoverable:
The most secure is to completely erase the Hard Drive and choose security option Zero out data, one pass. This takes several hours. You will then have to re-Install Mac OS X and any Applications you added.
Slightly less secure is to erase what you want to get rid of, then "Erase Free Space" with overwrite with Zeroes, one pass. Take somewhat less time, but there is a tiny possibility something might get re-used before it gets over-written. -

On my iTunes, it shows all my apps, and I'm hoping it still has all my contacts, but how do I get all that back on my phone?

Can I get back everything that was on my calendar, etc?As mentioned, you should have your contacts backed up on your computer or with a program, such as Address Book for Mac OS X, because they are not backed up with iTunes, even you did backup and restore. It only saves settings, app settings and saved games and that's pretty much it. If you only have the contacts on the iPhone, then you pretty much lost them.

Were you restoring from an icloud backup? IF so, it does take awhile for pictures to download.
