My computer stops !

My 2. computer stops when I try and run Windows 10.
My computer is elderly but with a 3 Gigaherz Intel processor.
Can it be this explanation ?:
For 64-bit installations of Technical Preview for Enterprise, a small number of older PCs may be blocked from installing the preview because they don't support CMPXCHG16b, PrefetchW, and LAHF/SAHF.
Or is it because the cooling system is not adequat ?. - A computer-shop told me that.
Another question:
Is it possible to freely update from Windows Vista ?  The Windows page suggestes that you can do that ?

Mention the Model and OS you are using....and what is the exact error you are facing...

  • Satellite Pro U series: The fan starts working - the computer stops

I have had this problem since the computer was new (1 year now), and it has increased. Now I can work internet on the computer less than one hour before the computer stops - it is too hot. If I only use word or office products without being online, it is OK I have tried closing unused application, it helps a little but not much. What can I do?

    Hi,
your problem sounds like a serious hardware malfunction. Honestly - you cannot do much. The only thing you should do is to contact an authorized service partner and ask them for a hardwarecheckup and a repair.

Recently when I connect Iphone 4s and MacBook Pro my computer stopped see new photos on Dropbox.  I have changed iCloud password on Mac and Iphone, nothing.  Deleted some pictures of iPhone, didn't help.  Any ideas what I did to mess this up?

I cannot deleted.  Computer keep telling that my dropbox is open.  Don't see how to shot it off.  Do I need to delete all pictures from dropbox first and delete application after.  Will I loose all these pictures? Usually, I copy all photos to iphoto app.

    Hello FM-Paris,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your Mac mini.  I would be concerned too if my Mac mini was restarting unexpectedly.  I recommend following the steps in the section titled "Troubleshooting a recurring kernel panic" in the article below to help isolate and troubleshoot this issue:

  • Recently my computer stops recognizing anything Bluetooth or USB related (wireless or plugged in) after a few minutes of computer use.

Recently my computer stops recognizing anything Bluetooth or USB related (wireless or plugged in, mouse, keyboard, printer, etc.) after a few minutes of use. I don't know if it's related, but recently I upgraded my iMac g5 (2005) from OSX 10.4 to Leopard 10.5 (I was told though, that my computer can handle the upgrade by Apple personelle). Also, I had the model that was released with a faulty power supply, but Apple fixed that problem for me a couple of years ago. My fan is also pretty loud (but has been for some time) and my computer takes longer to boot that it used to (this is a recent issue). I mention all of this in case there's a chance it's connected to the same problem. Any suggestions?

  • My computer stopped working

My computer stopped charging because the charging port broke off its backing to keep it still. Long story short, it won't turn on any more. I have over 1,000 songs on my itunes on my old computer but I don't know how to get all those songs on itunes on my new computer. I just need to know if this is possible or if I have to start from the beginning and find all those songs and CDs again.

It turns out all I needed to do was reset the PMU.

  • Computer stopped when downloading, Can't download my purchases. PLEASE HELP

Having purchased some songs and videos the computer stopped and I had to restart. Checking my purchase history tells me I have 54 songs to be downloaded, when I try to download them it says itunes store is unavailable, any purchases I have made since download no problem, I am left with these songs which I am unable to do anything with. Does anyone know what to do? How do download these.

Doesn't any any one at Apple care that it has been at least 5 days and no one has replied to the support email that I sent about the download issue that I have? Especially when one has almost 60 things to download. No one even replies in this forum. No one cares about the customer.

  • I don't understand why recently with the new "pages" my computer stops responding. When I go to fix some grammar all of a sudden the little colored circle begins to appear and won't go away I restart my computer.

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time after  you had the problem. Select the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the entire contents of the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post any other kind of report — it will be very long and not helpful.

Very recently, my computer stopped opening quicktime when I click on a video clip in iphoto. I have quicktime X, and it still works to play videos if I open quicktime and then search for the video. How do I go back to quicktime automatically launching from iphoto?

Well since I do not have iPhoto 7 I can only guess what may be: As far I can remember up to iPhoto 8, iPhoto insisted on Quick Time Player 7. As I can see you have Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6) and there Quick Time X is the standard playaer. Basically Quick Time 7 is not part of Snow Leopard.
Can you please check if Quick Time 7 is installed under Applications->Utilitis (in 10.6 Quick Time 7 if presenet is installed not under Applications - there Quick Time X is - but under Application/Utilities).
If not: insert your Snow Leopard installation DVD.
Once the installer opens, double-click on the Optional Installs folder
    Double-click the Optional Installs.mpkg package
    Click continue.
Select the option for QuickTime 7 then click Continue to start the installation.
If it is there you may try to move the iPhoto prefernce file to another folder and let iPhoto create a new one.
Please keep the old file until you are sure that iPhoto works how it should.
The iPhoto preference file can be found under your home folder then Library then Preferences and there
    com.apple.iPhoto.plist
As alraedy mentioned do not delet this file, since if something goes wrong you can put it back.
