My computer thinks my iPad is a camera. I've done Apples trouble shooting instructions. No success. When I try to d'load and install iPad Software Update it comes up with an error message when installing, saying the network connection has timed out.
Has anyone any advice?
Your computer thinking your iPad is a camera is a common problem. When I connect my iPad to my computer the computer starts a camera application and wants to download photos from the iPad. To work around this here are two suggestions:
1. Just quit the camera software that starts up and start up iTunes instead.
2. On a Mac what happens when you connect a camera is usually controlled by the Image Capture application. It's in the Application folder on your Mac. Might be in the Utilities folder inside the Applications folder. I'm not sure right now. In any case start up Image Capture and look at the preferences. There should be a choice for running an application when a camera is connected or do nothing. Change it to do nothing and save the preferences then close Image Capture. The next time you connect your iPad (or a camera) no camera or Image Capture software will run. When you do connect a camera you'll have to startup the camera software or Image Capture manually.
On a pc there might be a similar application that controls what software app runs when a camera is connected and the solution is probably similar. Sorry but I don't know much about pcs to help here.
As far as the time out problem when upgrading the iOS software, I've seen quite a few posts on this. It seems that certain firewall software in your Wi-Fi router or Mac and/or virus protection software on your Mac can interfer with the fluid download of the upgrade. The cure is to turn off firewall protection and virus protection during the upgrade process. Turn those back on when you are finished. Once you get to iOS 5 you will be able to perform future upgrades directly from the iPad via Wi-Fi and not have to connect to you computer to upgrade.

If there are any photos in the Camera Roll you will get a prompt like you mentioned when connecting your iPad to your computer. It is indeed a good reminder to save those photos to your computer. But if you don't want to copy those photos to your computer then dismiss the window and start iTunes. Once iTunes is running you should e able to sync your iPad.

(I think the daughter got he better end of the deal!) I believe if you change the password and user id one of the devices it will stop that from occurring. But I'm not the one to tell you how to do it; someone like "Illaass" (Illaass seems to know how to correct / fix almost anything!) will know how if you don't. Just look for the "cat" icon.

Are you using a proxy server to access the net?
Or another cause could be that your router thinks it's in its home country (probably china)
I just don't know how to fix it. There's a way but I don't know enough to advise.
You could try googling your router model and 'wrong country' or keywords like that and see if something comes up. -

With IOS Pages v2.0 and v2.1, Apple introduced a new document format that is incompatible with prior Pages versions on IOS or OS X Pages ’09. Opening older documents with these recent versions of Pages will permanently prevent the document from opening in earlier versions of Pages on IOS or OS X.

There is no undo of an iTunes application update, short of forcing iTunes to restore IOS v6 back on that iPad 2. Even if you did that, you won't find the IOS Pages v1.7.2 in the iTunes store now.
IOS Pages v2+ will allow you to export content in Word .docx format. You do this by first tapping the box with an up-arrow in it (next to the left-most +). A menu will slide up — choose Send a Copy. Select a document icon. Pick Mail, and then Word. Your Pages v2.1 document will now be converted to Word .docx, and attached to an email body. Fill in the to address and send. -
New computer win 8.1 pro, installed my creative Suite 4 Design premium but it shuts down when I try to use any of the programs and gives me an error code 147:20. How can I fix this? Is this a conflict with win 8.1 pro?
You need to adjust your security stuff/ permissions and possibly use compatibility modes. It means that your licensing service is being blocked/ shut down.

Hi, I've setup my new mini ipad today, restored a backup from icloud and all is fine. However, when I try to download my music, they almost completely download then an error message pops up saying "unable to download songs" - can anyone help please?
So it appears iCloud/iTunes Match isn't the issue - the error message would seem to be complaining about where the music is being downloaded to. So with this in mind:
In iTunes select Preferences and select Advanced. The iTunes media folder should be set to /Users/<your account>/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music. <your account> would be whatever your user account is. If you see something else there I'd guessing it is a folder you don't have permission to write to. -
Help! When I clicked on iTunes it came up with an error, I deleted iTunes and now when I try to re-download it, it tells me 'apple mobile devices' failed to start- what do I do!?

I updated to ios5 on another computer because i was stuck on the recovery mode loop but now the problem is that when i try sync to my current one iphone does not show up or sync at all.. any ideas? gonna try uninstall right now..
There is no way to consolidate iTunes accounts.
Setting up an iPhone has never required creation of a new Apple ID.
You've apparently purchased content with both Apple ID's. Sign into the device with the correct Apple ID and sync the content. -

this is a pretty long story
my laptop which i normally sync my ipod to is gone for 4 weeks because it's broken. My ipod screen is broken too there is one pixel that will only stay green no matter how many times i restart my ipod it's always green. My warranty ends on the 30th and I want to trade it in. But, if I trade it in then I will lose all the music I purchased on the wifi itunes store after my laptop broke. And I might even lose my entire library depending if any files are lost on my laptop when it is getting fixed. I'm trying to sync my ipod to my desktop computer to save the library ,so when I exchange it I can sync it with my desktop. And when my laptop is fixed I'll transfer it back. But when I try syncing my Ipod to my desktop comp. it shows up as a camera and can't open with itunes. When I click on it in my computer it's empty because it doesn't have any picture files on it (which is weird because I do actually have pics saved on my ipod). I know that there is music and videos on my ipod because i can watch and listen to them. Does anyone have an answer or any advice for my problem? Or do you have a similar problem?
