ok, so my whole itunes is messed up. first of all when i try to download the new itunes (8.2 or something like that...) it won't let me. it says error and it say try downlaoding it manulay and i tried that and it won't let me do that either. help.... i have alot of issuses right now, i can't even locate my music.....

*Reboot computer and then download again from http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
*If you are downloading with a particular browser. Try downloading iTunes with another internet browser like
*Safari for Windows
*Firefox for Windows
*Opera for Windows
*If you are running the file vs Saving the file. Choose to save to desktop vs run. You may also wish to check your Firewall and other security software to ensure it is not restricting downloads and you have administrator rights.

My computer will not download the itunes 10.7 update

my computer will not download the itunes 10.7 update. It gets as far as 20.7 mb then stops and comes up with a message "errors occurred while installing the updates". I have tried to download it manually but does the same. It is getting very frustrating now, as I have tried it numerous times. Please has anyone any ideas? Thanks

Try updating your iTunes using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer file downloaded from the Apple website:

I deleted every app (including numerous apps iI had to pay for) on my iphone4 because the update could not be completed due to a storage shortage. Now I paid $20 to get more storage and I find out after the fact that the additional storage i got was for icloud storage and update still cannot be completed. Actually there is a way to update the phone without worrying about the size. See, when you buy an iPhone, say 16GB, you're only actually getting about 13GB of usable storage, because the operating system takes up about 3-4GB all by itself. So when you are trying to update, the phone is trying to add that 3-4GB to the phone in addition to the one that's already there, and then switch them around and delete the old one. The way around this is to do a restore. If you plug the phone into iTunes, make a backup, and then restore to factory settings, it will accomplish the same goal without having to worry about the space constraints. The reason is because the factory reset will take everything off the phone, then put the update on, and then allow you to restore your backup to the phone once the new software is there.

not necessarily. You can try running Skype 2.8, which Mac OS X 10.5.8 should be able to use if you add the following line to your /etc/hosts file:
127.0.0.1 ui.skype.com
(The whitespace between the “1” and the “ui” should be a single tab character.)
If you’d rather not use an older version of Skype and edit one of your system files, you could instead purchase the white retail Snow Leopard DVD and install Snow Leopard onto your MacBook Pro, run Software Update to get it updated to Mac OS X 10.6.8, and then see if you can download and run the latest version of Skype.
If the latest version of Skype doesn’t run under Mac OS X 10.6.8, you could then download either Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks from the Mac App Store (which will be available to you once you have Mac OS X 10.6.8 installed), install the newer OS, and run Software Update again to get up to date. (Note that if you have an Early 2006 MacBook Pro, you’ll only be able to upgrade to Snow Leopard; if you have a Late 2006 model, you can only upgrade up to Lion. Lion and Mountain Lion are not gratis; Mavericks is gratis. If you upgrade past Snow Leopard, then you might need more RAM to run well.)

I changed my email password on Gmail last night. I then went into settings on my MAC to reflect the changes but it will not recognize it. I double checked to ensure I had the right password and it is. I can log into my email from safari with no issues. I have varified that all account information is correct but its still not working. I have also lost notes and contacts.

If Terminal doesn't scare you, you might try this line in Terminal...
sudo mv /var/db/CodeEquivalenceDatabase /var/db/CodeEquivalenceDatabase.old
Carefully type your admin password when asked & hit enter, as it won't be echoed, then restart the Mac.
The Password rejection can confuse people since it's a catch all meaning...

I have tried TONS of times to update my iTunes to 10.2. Now I've purchased an iPhone which I cannot activate because my iTunes is not updated. It downloads almost all the way, then I see an error message. It tells me that if I keep seeing that error message I should try going to tools, then hitting download only. I've tried this. Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

16 GB is a rounded up or rounded down value -- it makes it easier when advertising a product. I don't have an iPhone but almost always it is a rounded up value, so you start off with a bit less.
See the link by Stedman1 about how computer mathematics makes this less. When advertising they use 16 GB in base ten terms, but when your device uses base 2 which means it is shown as less.
Don't forget simply formatting a drive for use in an electronic device will use some space. No files on it yet that you see.
Your phone comes with some version of iOS. This will take up space and that is not factored in advertising a device.
This kind of space reporting has taken place since the first computers were sold. It's nothing new and all electronics manufacturers do it.
