My computer will not update the latest version of itunes
I NEED SOME HELP PLEASE 10.6.3 WON'T UPDATE ON MY COMPUTER
If you have an iBook G4, (PPC) you can't do much.
But if that is a MacBook (intel) you may be able to
upgrade the OS X, if the hardware is up to it...
Since there were about nine different build models
of MacBook (not powerpc iBook) to identify what
one you have would be the first step to knowing
what OS X and RAM upgrades it could use.
If the computer is not already at OS X 10.6.8,
it can't go online to get or use OS X 10.7.5. So,
when you more accurately describe the 'Book,
detailed information is available.
When you find the serial number, there is a web
page that can be used to identify by serial no.

That'd be a first step. Or even the Model number
which should be visible on the outer case by hinge.

I have an Ipod Classic, 80 gig. It's over 3 years old. I have a Samsung SensR410 laptop, also over 3 years old, running Vista Home Premium 32bit but '64bit Compatible'
I had iTunes 8.
One day my Ipod stopped working.
I formatted it.
I uninstalled iTiunes.
I re-installed iTunes.
But the latest version would not be loaded on my PC. I chose English as the language, but because I bought my laptop in Korea, some parts of the installation were in Korea. I uninstalled it, following the steps here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923
I re-installed iTunes 8. It loaded, but when I plugged in my Ipod, it said that the Ipod needed to be updated/restored, 'click to contact updater' but then it could not contact the server. I tried: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1814but it didn't help.
I tried downloading iTunes 9, it loaded, but the Ipod would not connect.

You should still be able to manually manage the music on your iPhone within iTunes. Make sure that when your iPhone is plugged in, look in the Summary tab to see if “Manually manage music and videos” is enabled and you can even you turn off Automatically Sync when this iPhone is connected. Windows XP will not update to latest version of iTunes, any ideas
iPhone will not connect to PC (Windows XP) because PC requires 11.1 or later. When I try and install the latest download it states "the feature is on a network resource that is unavailable, enter an alternate path to "iTunes.msi". What does this mean, any fixes out there?
(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
(5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -

What operating system? This is for Windows: Go back as many levels of folder hierarchy as you think appropriate, but not as far back as the drive letter. Right click and choose Properties. If Read Only is checked, uncheck it and OK it. When the next window opens, check to apply to subfolders.
BTW You are not the first person on this forum to experience an external drive being seen as Read only by Photoshop

My computer runs on Windows 7, and I've installed and updated the latest versions of itunes etc, but still to no avail! I've tried different usb ports, troubleshooting, etc... But it still says "One of the USB decuces arrached to this omputer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it".
The iPod is brand new, sent to me by Apple as part of the 1st gen replacement programme. I've been using the cable that came with the 1st gen iPod (I bought the first gen second hand) It always worked on my computer with the 1st gen iPod. So I was wondering, do you think I need to replace my cable in order for my PC to recognize my iPod or is it something else?

3rd gen iPod Nano will not sync with latest version of iTunes on new laptop. It passes the connectivity test but not the sync test under diagnostics. Worked fine on old Windows 7 laptop but not new one. From Control Panel it shows up as an Apple iPod USB Device...
Never mind, I think. I think I figured it out. There was 1 song (out of > 900!) that somehow had been purchased with the other ID - I have no idea how. Once I deleted that song, it stopped asking.
There may be something with the newest iTunes version too. I didn't think in older versions that the "On this iPod" list of songs was greyed out. But at least it syncs ok. -

When attempting to download the latest version of iTunes I receive a message that there is no installation package found (iTunes.msi). Searching my computer, I cannot locate a file with the msi designation. Tried to use the .exe file unsuccessfully. I am unable to remove the current version for the same reason. I have a large library of music that I cannot download on my iPhone4 for the same reason.

I my macbook pro will not recognize my iphone. I had the AppleStore, re-install my original software a month or two ago, but since they did this, my computer cannot recognize my Iphone it is telling me that I also need to download the new version of Itunes, but keeps telling me my system isn't running the correct software. I deleted the "new" library and repopulated the lists when re-installing. Even though I connect and the store comes up, and my login is correct, I get an error message every time. How do I reset it so it forgets all the errors and goes to the store to auth my purchases? I will not use the idiot-light version now offered for iPhone addicts. Help?

ThanksApparently, security programs like Macafee and Norton view Itunes updates as new programs and block then from access. If you add Itunes to the list of exemptions, it solves the problem.
