My computer won't recognise my touch

HELP!!!!!! My computer won't recognise my new touch zen... I'm running windows 98SE, did all the updates and still nothing, any suggestions?

Seanix200,
Ok, first off, when you plugged it in, did the system find new hardware? Do you get any indication that Windows sees that there is a device plugged into the USB port. If not then you may want to move to another USB port or try another system to make sure that this is not a problem with the Zen Touch itself.
If it does say it found new hardware, go into Device Manager and find the listing for the Zen Touch...it may be an unknown USB device. If it has an exclamation next to it, then you will want to double click on it and choose to reinstall the driver. This will give you another shot at the install.

My computer wouldn't recognise my ipod touch in either itunes or my computer, so i then erased it and reset the factory settings and now it just has the "connect to itunes" logo appear on the screen and it is still unrecognisable by my computer.  How can this problem be fixed?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

my computer won't recognise my ipod shuffle

So I recently had this same problem.  My Shuffle 2nd gen would not be recognized by my iTunes.  It had been a few years since i used it and at one point may have been connected to iTunes on a PC.  After several tries at troubleshooting, I realized that maybe the device is corrupted.  Since my iMac would not recognize the Shuffle, I connected to a PC and it appeared as a disk.  I reformatted the Shuffle in FAT32, plugged it back into my iMac and iTunes recognized it just fine but as a new device.  So if you have access to a PC, reformat it there and then try your Mac iTunes again.

  • Itunes won't recognise Ipod touch 5G

So this is for my friend who has a 5G, but her Itunes won't recognise the ipod touch 5G, but windows can recognise it, Itunes says to reset the Ipod touch, and she has done this before, and now again it won't recognise it, so she has to reset it, and this is quite annoying her, as resetting takes a long time. my friend had a 4G before, and had no problems with this, she sold the 4G to get the 5G. She has a window 7 laptop. I've tried several ways but it hasn't solved it.
What can we do to solve it ?

iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
    or
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
You need iTunes 11.1 or later on the computer.

  • My computer won't recognise my iPod Classic, even in disk mode?

I have a 160GB 6th generation iPod classic and my itunes won't recognise it. When I plug it into my laptop the laptop makes the noise as to say it has a new device connected, but it won't show up in my windows explorer or in my itunes. I have googled it and seen that I can put it into disk mode to try and fix it but when I do that the screen says OK to disconnect, and doesn't change even when I plug it into my computer. The laptop still doesn't recognise it then. I have tried different leads and the computer makes the 'recognises new device' noise with both, but it still doesn't work. The ipod doesn't say it is connected, the charging icon doesn't even come up on the battery on the screen of the ipod but I have left it plugged in and it is charging. I think it's a problem with the iPod as even when I plug it into the plug socket to charge the same thing happens, with no response from the battery icon. The screen does however light up when it's plugged in so the iPod recognises that it is plugged into a charging source, but thats just the backlight coming on and nothing else and it won't let me sync it or anything.
I can't get to an apple store for over 3 weeks as I am home for Easter and there's none near me but any help would be appreciated!!
I have restarted it multiple times, it still doesn't work.

Bump, I have this exact problem.
iPod Classic, 160GB, running the latest OS
Charges, but doesn't display charging icon (no lightning bolt in the top right). Doesn't recognize that it is plugged into the computer, and the computer doesn't recognize it (MacBook Pro, again, latest OS).
I have reset it... twice. And I've put it in disc mode - same results.
It will charge off my computer, but it won't sync, and it hasn't for about a week, so my podcasts are all out of date
    Thanks for the help!

  • My computer won't recognise my i pod shuffle

I have tried virtually everything I have installed the latest service pack tried masses of the advice apple has on the web, my computer is a good one but it just won't recognise my i pod.

You can try this procedure to reset the iPod shuffle
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1655
Then, shut down your computer (power off) and start it up, with iPod shuffle NOT connected.  Run iTunes.  Then, try connecting the iPod shuffle again.
If that iPod is less than one year old, it is under warranty.  You can contact Apple (or make an appointment at an Apple Store Genius Bar) to see about getting it replaced (if it's broken).
Otherwise, two likely possibilties are that (1) the cable used to connect the iPod to computer is bad, or (2) the connector on the iPod has gone bad.
Which iPod shuffle model is it?  The document above with reset procedure shows the four models.

  • My ipod touch 5th gen won't turn on or reset and my computer won't recognise it. It's 1 day old and all I did was try to plug it into the speaker system

My ipod touch 5th generation was purchased brand new yesterday. After charging it and loading my music i went to plug it into my icoustic dock which I got as a bundle with the ipod only to have my ipod screen go blank and now it refuses to turn on, reset or get recognised by my computer or itunes. I have the latests software as it was only uploaded last night. Should I be taking it back to the shop? Has anyone else had a similar problem?

  • Zen Touch - my computer won't recognise

I've tried numerous times to install my mp3 player but the pc won't detect it at all. I have Creative mediasource, media player 0, and downlaoded the driver from this site but it doesn't seem to work. The taskbar at the bottom of the screen says 'USB Device Not Recognized', and apparently there is no driver installed. How can I install one and/or fix the problem so I can start loading tracks onto the player? Any ideas?

I've got Windows XP, and downloaded the driver from http://uk.europe.creative.com/suppor...rtype=&x=23&y=
It looked promising but didn't do anything - it told me to connect the device, which I did, but then it closed without doing anything.

  • Computer won't recognise i-Pod touch

I apologise if this is a topic that's been done before but virtually every time we connect my wife's I-Pod to our (Windows Vista) PC we get an error message saying that i Tunes can`t read the conents of her I Pod and we should restore it. Of course it is not the end of the world to do this but it is a terrible waste of time. We took the I Pod to the apple store and got a replacement but we still have the same problem. When we went back to the apple store the technician said we should try syncing it with another PC; he said you can sync with up to 5 PCs but when we tried that it said that the I Pod can only sync with one PC and syncing to another would erase the contents. Any suggestions would be much appreciated as this is driving us mad!

You can 'authorize' up to 5 computers to play iTS purchases. You only have one library synced at a time. On a Mac you can hold down the 'option and Apple' keys together when plugging in the iPod and keep the keys down until the iPod shows up in the Devices section of iTunes. This will prevent iTunes from trying to sync your iPod. I am sure there is a key board command similar for the iTunes Windows users.

  • Computer won't recognise 2nd ipod

hi, i'm having issues adding another ipod to my system. I already have an ipod mini that i've had for nearly a year now, my brother has just bought an ipod with iphoto. for some reason the computer we share just will not recognise his ipod. it seems to be the usb connection that's causing the problem (although there's nothing wrong with either the cable or the ipod as we've tested both on our mum's laptop), the usb port still recognises my mini but won't even acknowledge that his iphoto is plugged in.
does anyone have any suggestions, am i even making sense?

  • Ipod 80Gb - 5 R's haven't worked, computer won't recognise, please help.

    Hey there kindly folk,
I've read through posts on this and other sites and tried what feels like hours worth of solutions but I'm at my wits end. Here's the details, hope someone can help.
    1) Have 80GB classic Ipod.
    2) All has been working fine for months ...
    3) Recently plugged it in to sync and Windows Vista popped up a screen saying something like 'drive is corrupted' and asked me if I wanted to repair it. I said yes, nothing much happened.
    4) Since then, neither Itunes, nor my computer, will recognise my ipod.
    5) Have checked device manager, it's not there. Even after multiple resets and switching to other USB ports.
    6) Have tried the '5 R's' with no success.
    7) Have updated all vista and itunes software. No success.
    7) Have tried putting it into disk mode. Got it into disk mode but computer still wouldn't recognise it.
    8) Now the battery has drained and it won't charge. When I try to reset the ipod it's screen shows a yellow ! point and says 'connect to power'. As the computer doesn't seem to recognise it exists, it won't power up. Have left it plugged in for hours, with no success.
So, I guess the question is - what now? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Cheers!

Have you got an AC power adapter? They used to be shipped with ipod, and I still got mine from the 3rd gen one.
You DO need that to fully recharge ipod. An apple store will either sell you one or even perhaps charge it for you.
Should they exchange it, the IFRST thing, you must do is plug into the AC charger, PRIOR to connecting it to computer. For some reason, apple do recommend a FULL AC charge first.
    Good luck
