My computer wont update itunes & and show all my music?
Alright, so I opened my itunes after awhile since I first downloaded it (new user). A pop up said there was a new version but I dismissed it. I then was looking at my itunes, and there was NOTHING in my library. I was confused seeing as when I first downloaded it, with my account everything showed up that was also on my phone. I clicked around and still coundnt find anything. I then decided that maybe it wasnt showing me my music because I decided not to update. So then I tried to find out how to update, and then I ended up just downloading itunes again? I then checked again and found the alt and help button. However... when I click check for update it gives me an update, I press download... and nothing happens?! I dont understand why? I went through my account information and it said I had nine downloads, I down loaded them... but its only 4 albums, and just pieces from each?

Here are some things to double-check. The first two are optional:
On the summary tab of your iTunes sync settings check "Sync only checked songs and videos"
In your music library check all the songs you want to sync to your phone
Make sure there are no exclamation points next to any of the songs you want to sync to your phone
Be sure to authorize your computer for all Apple IDs used for any purchased music you want to sync to your phone (in Store>Authorize This Computer)
Check "Sync Music" on the Music tab of your iTunes sync settings -
I hooked up my iPod to the computer and opened iTunes and now all my music is gone. I have greyed out areas where the music is supposed to be, but it says that I still have the same number of songs as I did before. Can I get my music back?
Grayed out whee? Computer? On iPod?
If in iPod that means the music files got corrupted and are lost.

If I was in your shoes, I would choose to restore the iPhone with iTunes and then choose to NOT restore a previous backup. I'd then go on to set up the phone as though it were totally new, and choose the stuff to load onto it.
The reason I'd go through that trouble.. even though it meant losing a lot of settings and having to set stuff up again .. is because I wasn't sure I could trust the backup that it's restoring from.
If you have trouble again after doing the fresh reload -- especially if it's soon after you do it -- you may have a hardware issue with the phone, such as faulty flash memory or a processor chip that's failing. If that's the case, you'll want to consider your repair/replacement options at that point. -

The easiest and most efficient way to copy your music is to follow the steps under the External drive section. Make sure that you have organized the iTunes library first before you copy it over. Then put the copied iTunes folder in the same Music folder on your computer.

My laptop died so I've installed itunes onto another PC and my music is all on an external hardive which is connected to the new PC. How can I sync my ipod with the new itunes and get all the music onto itunes?
You might consider itunes match for moving CDs you've copied into your itunes library if you dont have a way to use home sharing.
iTunes match is an optional service offered by apple that costs about $25 a year. It scans your music library and if it finds music that is already in apple's itunes catalog it'll automatically "unlock"/"store" these in the cloud for you. My question was, when you connect the shuffle to USB, does the light come ON? From the way you answered, I'm not sure if you are answering that question, or saying that the light does not come ON when you move the power switch on the shuffle to the ON position.
Also, what happens when you connect the shuffle to your computer by itself, with nothing else connected to USB?
If you get no response (no light) from the shuffle when you connect it to USB by itself, trying both the original USB cable and a new one that is compatible with the 4th gen shuffle, try connecting something else to the USB port to confirm it is working properly. It would be best to test the USB port with something similar, such as a USB flash drive or external drive. If you can confirm the USB port works properly, it is likely that the cause for this problem is on the shuffle, such as a faulty headphones jack or bad logic board.
If the shuffle is less than one year from purchase date, it is under warranty. -
When I updated itunes I lost all of my music, I was able to retrieve it from a previous itunes library, but now some artists have all of their songs listed under one "unknown album." Is there a way to separate these songs back into the correct albums? Also, is there a way to make songs that have a featured guest just show up with the rest of the album instead of making a whole new spot for it? Thanks!

I have never used another computer to sync my phone or ipod too. I do not want to lose everything. I am quite frankly at the end of my rope and thoroughly regret the fact that I am stuck with an iphone 4 for 2 years.
Someone, anyone...help??!Sounds like you've taken the wrong course of action after a missing library error. Ideally you would have just restored a backup at the first sign of trouble.
Each iTunes library contains a unique ID that is also recorded in any device that syncs with it. After your rebuild the two IDs won't match so iTunes will try to treat the devices as "new".
Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Alternatively, for each device...
You should be able to transfer your purchases into a newly authorised library, backup the device, recover any non-store purchased media with the tips in this post from forum regular Zevoneer, (skip this if you've already got all the media) then restore the device from the backup you just made. That should preserve all your data and switch the assocation of the device to the new library. I've had positive feedback on this method from other users but I've never had to test it personally.

Hi, here is the problem, i just got my new 30g video ipod and for awile i couldnt get music on it, but i go that figured out. Then i wanted to put videos on there and when i went to plug it in it wasnt there, so my ipod doesnt show up on itunes and sometimes when i plug it in it freezes itunes, one time i did get it to show up but it wouldnt let me transfer for some reason.
Now ive tried the 5 r's and everything else so could u please help me on this i cant stand it any more.
AaronIf you're running windows that the reason. I've had the same prob. Try disconnected your iPad and then open iTunes when your iPad isn't connected and make sure it's not bombed out then close it. Then try putting it back in and take the prices slowly do
Nt. rush it to open that mostly when I get the problem. If that's doesn't work reboot your iPad while holding down both the sleep/wake and home button for 10 seconds then switch it back on normally after about 5 seconds -

Reinstalling iTunes simply replaces the application. It shouldn't affect your media. You do have backups, right?
