My contact list has disappeared. how do I restore it from a past backup?

My contact list on my iPod touch just disappeared today... for no reason that I can figure out. No other apps seem to have been affected.
I tried sync-ing to my computer, but that didn't change anything.
I would like to find out if I can get ahold of the old contact list (from the previous sync, which was a couple months ago, I think); AND, do I have to go back to that version of everything on my iPod, or can I just grab the contact list only and put it back on my iPod?
I am okay with doing some computer-y things on my own (for example, updating the operating system a while back), but I do not have a lot of self-confidence about these sorts of things, so if you do have an idea about how to fix this, I'll need step-by-step instructions (rather than a general "go back to your old backup" sort of thing).
Thanks!

That's perfectly OK . . .

  • I lost my contacts - how to I restore them from my computer backup?

I need to restore my contacts on my wife's iPhone. They mysteriously disappeared and I want to restore from her computer iTunes /backup - but when I plug the iPhone in - it begins to "backup". I'm afraid if I allow the "backup" to proceed it will wipe out the computer back-up and replace with her "empty" iPhone contacts.
Can I simply "restore" the lost contacts from the computer?

If you have them synced to a supported application on the computer. If the phone begins a backup as soon as you connect it, then you want to go into Settings in iTunes and turn off automatic syncing. From there, you can choose to either sync the contacts if you have them in Address Book, or Contacts, or Outlook, or restore them from iCloud, or if you have a backup of the phone, you can restore the phone to the last backup that had the contacts on it.

  • How do i restore pictures from an icloud backup?

Hi, does any one know how do i restore an icloud backup? i have not photo streamed any of my photos on my iphone 5 and whilst trying to sort this out i have ended up deleting about a 100 photos. Is there a way of retrieveing these through using the icloud back up?

The iCloud backup only includes camera roll photos, not photo stream photos.  If they were in the camera roll when you last backed up, restoring the backup should recover them.

  • Contact list in outlook has disappeared-how do i restore

    Hello,
Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.
Further information can be found in the [[Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox]] article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • How do I restore bookmarks from an Acronis backup to a new disk?

I am building a new computer and having trouble with Firefox.
I am using a SSD C:\ drive and trying to put my programs on D:\ in order to save space on the SSD drive.
I made a backup using Acronis True Image Home of my entire C:\ drive.
I can't seem to get the bookmarks to restore from the backup. I have put it in the same folder but Firefox won't recognize it. I've tried renaming it to the same name as the folder created by Firefox and renaming the default but that doesn't work.
I had Firefox create a brand new profile and when I look in he folder I see a folder named startupCache and a couple of others.
In my old bookmarks folder I see six Cache files and a urlclassifier3.sqlite.
How can I get the old bookmarks into my new Firefox profile?

Yes, if I right click on a profile in the profile manager when I start Firefox it shows me the path to the profile. It is in the AppData\Roaming section.
For the sake of brevity I haven't typed in the full path name, just enough to let you know where I am putting them, I hope.
I put it there. No good.
I just looked at the profile I restored to the AppData\Local section ( it seems Firefox puts a copy there too ) and merged the one that showed the Cache folders which came from my backup disk with the profile of the same name in the Roaming section.
Still no go. No bookmarks showing up. If I click on the profile folder it shows the Cache files etc. are all there but it doesn't do anything.
This has gotten very aggravating. All files seem to be where they should be but it doesn't work.

  • I got a replacement ipad. how do I restore it from a previous backup on icloud?

I am trying to restore a previous backup on icloud from a previous ipad2 (that got dropped and shattered). How do I do this? It is not letting me select the backup to restore. I had to upgrade the iOS from 6.0 to 6.1.3. Any help is appreciated.

Are you sure you have a backup in icloud? It wont let you select one until after the restore has been started.
Once you go though the setup process during the restore, it will prompt you for your apple id, it has to be the same one that's assciated with the icloud backup.

  • I previously owned an iPad. I want to restore my iBook collection from my iPad to my Macbook. I can only see my collections but not the books. How can I restore it from my iPad backup?

I prevsiouly owned an Ipad. Before selling it, I backup it on my Macbook. When the new Mavericks has been released, i upgraded my Mac. Now that I have iBooks on my Mac, I want to restore my iBook collection from my previous Ipad to my Mac. On my Mac, I can only see the iBooks collection of my previous iPad but not the books that I have purchased. I probably had more than a hundred books on my collection (in epub and pdf formats). I have already tried transferring purchases in iTunes and adding to my Library but to no avail.
Can anyone give me a solution to this.

Restore as a NEW device to test. If this solves it, that means there is some corruption in your backup file, or maybe it's one of your apps causing the trouble. If the problem is still there, you should take it to the Genius Bar at an Apple Store for evaluation.

  • Entourage 2008 calendar deleted. How can i restore it from time machine backup?

I have my Entourage 2008 calendar sync with ical. I accidentally deleted Entourage on the left column of ical, and it deleted the calendar on on Entourage. I want to restore the calendar. I have used time machine to backup my hard drive. I just don't know how or what to do.

    Quit iCal.
In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder... from the menu bar, copy the text on the line below into the box that opens, and press return:
    ~/Library/Calendars
Enter Time Machine and restore the selected folder from the last snapshot that was taken before the deletion. Relaunch iCal and test.

  • How do I restore session from time machine backup

I am using a new user account on the macbook and need to transfer firefox tabs, contained within the session of previous user account.
I have backed up the previous user account using Time Machine, and can access its files using Time Machine.
Is there a way to copy necessary files related to opening tabs from previous user account into the current user account, so I can resume session in new and current user account?

Firefox stores your list of open windows and tabs in a file named sessionstore.js, in your Firefox profile folder. This is under a hidden path, as described in this article: [[Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data]].
In theory, you can transplant your old sessionstore.js into your currently active profile folder (with Firefox NOT running) and when you start Firefox you should be able to restore that session from the History menu. I recommend lots of backups before trying this.

  • How Do You Restore Data From Time Machine Backup?

    Hi
In my case I have a ORIGINAL Leopard Disc but ONLY an UPGRADE Snow Leopard disc. I'm installing a new hard drive in my Snow Leopard macbook pro and I have been using time machine for my backups. Am I correct in thinking I need to reinstall Leopard on the new drive THEN upgrade to Snow Leopard THEN use Time Machine to restore my data from the old drive? Seems a bit time consuming but I guess it's more of a fresh install?
    Many Thanks
    Jeff

    Hi Jeff,
If you want the iLife package that came with Leopard, yes, that will work. If not, just need the SL installation before TM restore.
If you have a HD available, the fastest/easiest would be to clone your existing internal to it, then install new HD and format/partition it, then clone back to it.
