My contacts disappeared on my Iphone 3gs

My contacts disappeared from my Iphone3gs. How do I get them back. I have MobileMe as well on the phone.

OK, I understand. Try this ... it's much safer. It will simply restore your backup, but not do anything to your iOS:
While your iPhone is plugged in to iTunes, right click on the iPhone icon on the left side of the iTunes display.
Choose "Restore from backup ..." from the pop-up menu that appears.
Again, what this will do is place that backup back on your iPhone without changing iOS. So you should be very confident in the backup contents before doing this.

do you sync your contacts with an application in your computer? or use iCloud?
I can't tell you why the contacts disappear but you can get them back without much hassle by syncing through iTunes with your computer.
do you regularly make backups? if so, you can restore your iPhone using the backups and get your contacts back in your iPhone.
It is strange that half of your contacts are gone over and over again. Do you have Groups that are unchecked in your iPhone? If so, the contacts in those groups will not appear in your contacts list but they are in your iPhone and be recovered by re-checking the group name.

Any restrictions set up in Settings/General/Restrictions? If yes, disable them, restricted apps can't be found on any of the screens.

The phone strarted "blinking" all of a sudden, and when it returned to normal all contacts were missing.
Has anyone else experienced this? Do you know if I can somehow restore the contacts? (No, I did not syncronize them with my PC or store them online..)

I would try a reboot and pray that it helped. But if you didn't back the phone up to itunes or icloud or if you don't already store your contacts in gmail, then they are probably gone forever.

Your contacts should be on your computer.
Sync them to your ipad, just as you sync them to your iphone

Within iTunes you should have the option to select your iPhone, select the Info tab up the top, select Sync Contacts and then (if given the option) select Outlook as the area to sync from.
Make sure you backup first to prevent any data loss.

Contacts disappeared in my iPhone 4

Last night I noticed at some point in the day my contacts were gone. My favorites in Safari too. My favorites in my phone book at still there, but showing just numbers, no names.

Contacts also disappeared in my Iphone 3G, just disappeared on Dec 26 at 10 Am central time. I recently joined Itunes on Dedc 23 and synced my phone 3 days ago - think that had anything to do with it? Unreal. Had over 400 contacts in there......

When setting iCloud my contacts disappeared from my iPhone

I sync my iphone 5 with outlook as well as my ipad mini.
I created an icloud account to be able to use the find my iphone app.
It asked me what to do with my contacts and I chose merge.
My contacts have disappeared from my iphone an there are no contacts in icloud.
My ipad mini has the data since I have not configured icloud in the ipad.
What do you suggest to get the contacts back to my iphone?
And what do I need to do to configure icloud on the ipad without deleting the contacts

Thank you for your suggestion. I tried that and when I slid the bar to off , I was asked what I wanted to do with the icloud synched contacts, leave on the iPad or delete or cancel. I selected leave on the iPad and then the synch symbol came on screen, it stayed that way for over 30 minutes, in that state. I then rebooted the iPad and it came back , I went to the screen and the setting for iCloud contact was back to on. The contacts were still not there. My mail was still not working. I turned mail off and on , I received some email but not all as I compared to my iPhone and I tried to send an email it still did not send. I went back to the settings iCloud and turned contacts off again, I answered leav on iPad again and this time left it like that for an hour and had the same results.

Lost my contact app on my Iphone 3gs

I had an error on my latest download of iTunes 11.0.5 for window 7 64 bit and there was an error message -42404 where all the components had not downloaded correctly, I plugged my Iphone 3GS to download some photos and essentially locked up my phone. I disconnected the phone and my pass code no logner worked so forced to set up as a new phone. Now there is no contact icon on my phone screen and there are no contacts when I write a message. However there is a contact icon when I use the phone to make a call and all my contacts seem to be there along with my calendar information. So my question is how do I recover my phone as the restore feature on iTunes which is now working has already backed up the current iphone information and I have lost my original back up! I have tried resetting the the home screen to the factory settings but there is still NO contacts icon?

Check the Utilities folder. You can check first by going to Spotlight search and search for Contacts. If it is located in a folder, the right side of the search line if it is located should identify the folder name. The default location for Contacts though is the Utilities folder.

Problems syncronizing contacts between MacBook Pro / iPhone 3GS

Hi guys,
I have recently completely rebooted my iPhone 3GS and now it will not syncronize (import) my contacts from my MacBook. When connecting the iPhone and seeing it in iTunes, the box "Syncronize all contacts" is ticked and yet still no contacts on my phone.
Any ideas?

What you're trying to do is called tethering. While the iphone is capable of tethering, tethering is a carrier feature, and requires the appropriate carrier file to be installed on your phone. The menu item to tether your phone will only appear if your carrier supports tethering & such is provisioned on your account, and the appropriate carrier file is installed. So, contact your carrier.

I am in a really bad situation...i really need to somehow recover my contact list from my iphone 3g, but the phone was stolen along with the sim card. I did a backup on my phone a couple months ago, but it was on a friends computer,which they no longer have. So my question is there anyway for me to retrieve the contact information online maybe? .... help!!
