My contacts just disappeared off iCloud

My contacts just disappeared off my iphone having not deleted them or fiddled with the settings. They have also deleted in a similar fashion off my Mac book pro. These seems to be because they have disappeared off my icloud. Please help!
thanks

Missing contacts:
Here's a test to perform - using a computer's browser, log into icloud.com and go to the Contacts page.  If they are gone, then they are gone (is someone else using the same account as you, like a spouse or child?).
If they show up, then the problem is that your device is not connecting to the Contacts database on icloud.
On the device, go to Settings>icloud.  Be sure icloud is on and using the right ID.  If not, scroll to the bottom of the page and tap Delete Account - this just disconnects the device from that account, no data is lost.  Then log back in using the correct ID.  ALSO - be sure the Contacts are turned on (on the same screen).
Note:  Contacts are not part of an iCloud backup, since they are part of contacts database on iCloud's servers.   So performing a restore will not help.
Contacts are gone from icloud.com.
Then they have been deleted.  There are many reasons for this.  One possibility is that someone else is using the same iCloud account (family member, etc.) and they deleted contacts, thinking they did want them on THEIR device.  How to get them back?  Unfortunately, an iCloud backup does not include any of the sync databases, like contacts, notes, calendars, reminders, etc. because the data is already stored in these databases.  Your only hope for restoring the data is if you had that data on a computer (like a mac's Contacts, Calendars, etc.) and that data was backed up using whatever backup software you typically use (e.g. Time Machine on a mac).  Just restore the data files back to the computer.  Other than that, I'm afraid the data is gone.

  • My contacts just disappear

    Hello,
I have iPhone 4. My husband has iPhone 4S.
Out of nowhere, my contacts just disappeared (both from my iCloud and from my iPhone).
I did not do anything. it just happened.
It happened just when my husband, changed his iCloud password (my husband has different iCloud ID although our passwords were the same, before he changed his). We believe there is some connection between our iPhoned / iClouds, but cannot understand it.
As well, we cannot understand the fact that it was deleted (from both: iPhone and iCloud).
Is there any way to restore the data? (The iPhone was not sync with itunes for decades).
    Please help me ...
    Michal

Under Settings > iCloud make sure the switch next to Contacts is ON (green side showing). If it's already on, turn it off, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on again.

  • Sending the same email message several times to contacts.  Turned off iCloud, but still sending message.

Sending the same email message several times to contacts.  Turned off iCloud, but still sending message.
A user had synced all of his contacts from his computer and iPhone to his iCloud.  Today, his iCloud sent out the same message 20 times to all recipients.  We were able to transfer all calendar items and contacts back to his pc and then disable iCloud.  However, it still sent out the messages.  Any ideas?

It's a carrier issue. I have AT&T and had this issue with my friend (who had an Android) and my mother (who had a feature phone). Both of them have Verizon for service and I'm thinking the issue was on Verizon's end. They both just dealt with it as we tried all sorts of things to get this sorted out (other than contacting Verizon directly) and had no luck.
They've both switched to iPhones so it's a moot point for us now, at least.

  • My contacts have disappeared off my iphone 5s

    Hi
My contacts have disappeared from my iphone 5s for no reason and dont know how to get them back, could you please help?

    Are these iCloud contatcs?
Are all your contacts available when you sign into iCloud.com with your Apple ID from a web browser on your computer?
If so, you can force a re-push from iCloud.com:
On your phone: Settings > iCloud > Turn Contacts off > wait fro it to finish then turn them back on.

  • Why have all my contacts just disappeared without warning on my iphone5?

icloud is an absolute waste of time. Contacts, mail and calender are always messing up - the lastest issue being that all of my contacts have disappeared. I've tried all the advice given on many forums and help sites (it seems absolutelty loads of people are having the same issues.
Apple got rid of web hosting and idisk for something much worse. There ids hardly any storage space and it doesn't even work half of the time anyway.
I used to be the biggest apple fan ever but... i think Apples bubble is bursting...

  • HT204150 My contacts have disappeared off my phone

My contacts have disappeared when enabling the I cloud. How do I recover them?

Test to be sure they are still in icloud.  Using a computer's browser, log into icloud.com and look at the Contacts page.  If gone, then they are really gone.  If not, then my instructions above should bring them back.  You could also scroll to the bottom of that page in Settings>iCloud and tap Delete Account.  Then enter ID and password again to reconnect.  That has to bring them back.

  • HT201104 a document I was working on has just disappeared from icloud drive

I'm in a total panic. I've been working on a document for the past week, updating it between my mac and iPad. A moment ago, working on the iPad, a message came up saying that the document couldn't be auto saved and my most recent changes might be lost. The only option was to close the document. I did this and now it has disappeared from icloud drive completely.  I wouldn't mind if I'd just lost the last 2 hours - but this is at least 24 hours of work. Does anyone anywhere have any ideas on where it might be? Because I'm on the move I didn't back it up on my Time Capsule as I normally would. I think I'm going to cry - I have a deadline of Saturday.
    Thanks for any advice.

We can see the question.  But, some more information might help.
What are you using to work on the document? (Pages, MS Word, ...)
You mentioned scanning.  From what, using what?

  • HT204150 All my contacts have disappeared from icloud and all my devices

I've just tried to use contacts on my iPhone (4S) to discover they have all disappeared. Checking my other devices, I discover they have disappeared from them also.
Is there any chance of getting them back?
I have tried recovering from Time Machine to my Macbook but it won't let me.
    Can anyone help, please?

Log out of iCloud and make your Home/Library visible as follows:
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
Then go to your Home/Library/Application Support folder and select the AddressBook folder.
Go into Time Machine, go back in time till you're sure you'll have all your contacts and resotre the AddressBook folder.
Open Contacts and see if your contacts are back.  If so the the first thing to do is use the File ➙ Export ➙ Contacts Archive... menu option to make a backup of your contacts.
Then log back into iCloud and see if your other devices will repopulate with your contacts.

  • Scammed? lost iphone found - now disappeared off icloud

    Hi,
My husband, Ernest's, brand new iphone 6 was lost (stolen) last week and via icloud i enabled "lost phone mode" and entered by own mobile number. Last night I received an SMS indicating that the phone had been found (giving me the last digits of the serial number) and directing me to an apple support site (http://appleisupports.com) to verify the details, which I did,.... after that, there was an email that there was a sign in on Ernest's icloud and I changed the password immediately, but could not find any trace of his iphone on find-my-iphone (before this the phone would show with status offline) anymore.
Now, I am pretty sure that this was a scam to get access to the account and erase the lost phone mode, which they (whomever they are) completed successfully. Needless to say is that I have not been informed of the location of the stolen phone....
I would like to know who I could report this to, within the apple support community, to avoid other people making the same mistake.
    Picture of the SMS attached
    Thanks, Josee

My understanding is that changing the password does not prevent Find My iPhone from continuing to work with the account.  However, they may have forced it into recovery mode and restored it.  This would have erased it and rendered it unable to be tracked, but it could not be reactivated and used.
