After the latest update I can't see my contacts names when they phone me, In call history, or when getting phone calls! iPhone 5

Some of my contact names are not appearing when they text message me. They are just showing up as their numbers. I have them saved in my phone so i am not really sure why their names aren't showing up when they message me?

I have this identical problem. For a while my group texts didnt show up on my ipad. Then one day they did, maybe everyone in the group started using the same os version or something. Ever since my first reply to the group there have been complaints of multiple threads. I can not find a pattern for when my group text's decide they want to create a new thread. (it doesnt happen every time) Everyone in the group has deleted the thread, we've all toggled imessage on/off etc. There still hasn't been a solution.

Contact name does not appear after upgrading to iOS 5

I recently upgraded to iOS 5 and after doing so, contact name does not appear when someone calls; but text messages the name appears. I have saved all my contacts under +9 format.

This indicates that the phone was carrier locked and had been 'hacked' to unlock it. Updating the phone has re-locked it to the original carrier.
ONLY the carrier it is locked to can authorize unlocking it. Not all do so. Contact the carrier and find out what their policy is.
If it's locked to AT&T, you may as well sell it and buy a new phone. AT&T will not unlock iPhones for any reason.

All my contacts are stored with country code for eg 233 244 123456. Contact names do not appear during incoming calls. Once the country code is removed , names appear. Please help

Contact names not appearing in texts or when calls recieved

I got off a plane from the UK to the US (this was a return trip, i'm from the US on Verizon) and when I turned my iPhone 4S back on, all of the contact names (who are in my Contacts) disppeared from emails, texts and my phone log. A friend told me to "Import SIM Contacts" but that didn't do anything. I deleted all of my texts hoping that when I sent new texts and recieved calls names would appear, however they still are not. Is there anything I can do other than take it to the Genius Bar?

I didn't have the problem when returning from International, but I did have the problem right after my new Verizon iphone was set up last week.
After reading some of the posts in the support forum, I first edited my contacts to include the +1 in front of the phone numbers (this may have been an unnecessary step, and it certainly was an annoying one).
Second, I used the *228 set up feature, closed the phone, contacts and text functions on the phone, then turned the phone off and back on, and it seemed to fix the problem for the most part. I think if you search the forum for *228, you will find posts that have the full sequence of steps to follow..
I have other issues with my phone, but at least this one seems cleared up for now.

Contact names do not appear when composing an email

When I click to compose an email, names of my contacts do not appear when I start typing ...only email addresses...and they look shaded out. I have gone into contacts and confirmed that names are all correct, and looked through other discussions, but usually this seems to happen with text messages. I don't ahve a problem with the contact names appearing when I text...only when I try to compose a message. Its very annoying because I don't always remember people's email - I'd like to just start typing their name and ahve the contact appear. Iphone 5.

Contact name does not appear in "from" column, only email appears

I have a contact for which there is an address book entry that contains a physical address, AIM/MSN, and email. However, in my inbox in the "from" column this person's full email address instead of their name appears. When I open the message, the contact's name is correctly displayed in the "from" line. Why is there this discrepancy? How can I fix this?

I have the same problem with Tiger mail. Some, not all, of my Address Book contacts appear with the full email address and not the contact name in my Inbox. If I open the email, the correct contact name then appears. However, if I attempt to reply to this individual using the reply button, the resulting email address that appear in my email message is not accurate and is some corrupted iteration of the correct email address. I have looked at the raw source for these incoming messages and the email address that appears there is fine (just like I have entered in Address Book). Any ideas?? Thanks.

This should fix it:
Open the phone and dial *228. This is a Verizon over-the-air programming number.
When the system answer press 1 for "Program or activate your phone"
Wait for the call to disconnect. You should get a prompt stating "Settings updated."
Double tap the Home button to bring up the recently used apps list at the bottom. Locate the Phone, Message, and Contacts apps, swiping if necessary, and press and hold until they jiggle then press the red minus sign to stop them.
Wait a 3-5 minutes.
Try your phone again to verify that it's fixed.

Under "View My Usage" why can I not see all texts or phone calls listed?

Do you have an iPhone? Are you using an app to text, rather than the standard texting? Those will use data and will not show up on your text logs.
Calls may take up to 48 hours to show on the call logs, and longer if you were roaming or in extended network when the call was made or received.

N82 - contact name does not appear !!

When I receive a text, normally the name of my contact appears.
In a few cases only the contact's mobile number comes up and I cannot get the N82 to recognise that it is the same person.
Is there a trick to this ?

This happens when you have a duplicated entry in your contacts.
For example you have "01234567890" saved as "Mum" and you also have it saved as "Dad". The phone has no way of knowing which contact is calling so it only displays the number.
Check for duplicate entries and remove them. If you don't find any duplicates compare a contact that works against one that doesn't and see if anything looks different in the number format, like a country code.

I'm not a Verizon user (I'm with Rogers, in Canada), so this obviously is not a Verizon issue. Would love to know why one second all my texts and calls had names associated with them, and then suddenly all the names were replaced by phone numbers.

Suddenly having text name issues- my contact name doesn't appear.

All of a sudden when I select a contact > text > and the compose page appears that contacts name is not attached unless I back out and start all over.

to be honest these are the solutions that may or may not work..
first thing I would try is rebooting the phone by holding the sleep/wake button and home button for 15 seconds until you see the white apple logo
if that doesn't work I would restore from backup and if that doesn't work I would restore as new if all else fails take it to your closest apple store they may replace the phone for a working one..

Contact does not appear when texting

Although the contact does save and comes up when I call it or look it up in my contact book, it does not appear via text/imessage. Ive restored the phone and deleted and recreated the contact numerous times yet the problem persists.

I am expriencing the same issue with my iPhone 4S, were you able to resolve the problem?
