My conversation with a Verizon Rep concerning the iPhone shipments.

I understand that a lot of you think that the CSR's are not very knowledgeable about the shipment of our phones, and that may be the case, however I thought I would post my conversation that I just had with one.

JoAnn Ford: But I didn't order mine until yesterday. I received a confirmation email, and a few hours later I received an email stating that my phone had shipped.
Brittany: I will be glad to help you with your phone concern today.  Was this an upgrade order?  
JoAnn Ford: But the link to track takes me to the USPS website and the tracking number doesn't work just yet. Do you know why this is?
JoAnn Ford: I just signed a 2 year contract and ported a number from sprint, then turned on an old VZ phone and ordered it as an upgrade on the website, but technically it is not an upgrade.
Brittany: The phone has not really shipped out yet could be my only guess.  The phone is not set to ship out until the 13th.
JoAnn Ford: MY phone will ship the 13th? even though I ordered it yesterday and not on Friday?
Brittany: Yes, for pre-orders made online, it will ship out on the 13th overnight and delivered on the 14th.  
Brittany: No problem at all.

JoAnn Ford: My boyfriend call a rep earlier about this and he told me that the representative on the phone informed him that the shipments were pushed back until the 21st. Does this meant that that is not true??
Brittany: That is for people who places the order on the 14th.  The day that it comes out in stores.

You just ordered your phone yesterday and they're shipping it on the 13th?!?!  Wow.  Did you just go through the main menu and talk with a customer service rep?

  • Will Verizon Be Unlocking the iPhone 5 for International Use with local carriers abroad like they do with the 4S?

    Here is my situation. I am leaving the country on business in a month. Since it is pretty doubtful that an unlocked iPhone 5 will be available for pre-order tomorrow, I'll be buying one at full price under my verizon account (not due for an upgrade yet). Verizon currently SIM Unlocks the iPhone 4S if you meet certain requirements (account in good standing, active 60 days, phone activated on account, etc.) so you can use your iPhone abroad with a local carrier there for cheaper rates. Does anyone think Verizon will do this same procedure for the new iPhone 5? I understand that my new iPhone may not have 4G LTE capability abroad due to hardware limitations on different carrier models, however all new iPhone 5 models have quad band GSM/EDGE and 3G. Would I be able to use this feature if Verizon unlocked my iPhone? It should be noted I am not trying to unlock to use my phone on Tmobile or another US carrier, as with the 4S carriers put a block on this even for unlocked Verizon models. I am looking at this from the standpoint of a traveling business user (and I think there are a lot out there wondering the same thing). Nonetheless I will be preordering the iPhone 5 from Verizon and on release day I will call them and ask if they will unlock it. If they don't I will return it. I'll update my findings here for anyone else curious about this as well.

I am curious how things worked out with getting a nano SIM and your iPhone 5.  Our family will be visiting Manila this summer, and I would like to hear a first-hand account about your phone experiences.  Do you purchase minutes for call/texting?  What about data?  Any feedback you can give from your trip regarding your iPhone usage would be helpful.  Thanks!

  • How Can I choose Iphone 5s models that work with LTE in Brazil. The Iphone needs to Support Band 7. If I buy the wrong model can apple change it ?

    I am planning to buy an Iphone 5s in October, but I have to make sure that the model will work with the LTE services we have in Brazil. I know that Apple made 2 Models that support Band 7. See Below.
    Model A1457*: UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20)

    How can I make sure I will buy the correct model through the internet ? Can Apple change the Iphone In case they send the model that does not support LTE services in Brazil ?

    Have you personally tried those models with Brazilian LTE networks? Do they work? If so, fine.  If not, then besides that, there is the problem of the warranty which is not international. The user will have to return the phone back to the country of purchase for both warranty and out of warranty service. So what might seem cheaper at first glance might not be in the end.
    Anyways, it your money and the OP's should he want to go ahead with your recommendation.

    That is how it is supposed to work. And how it was done
    when my 3G was exchanged. If they do give you more
    than just an iPhone, are you losing anything? If in doubt,
    ask Apple or the store that is replacing your iPhone.

  • Outlook 2000 calendar sync with one hour difference into the iPhone

    Good morning,
    I've two iPhone (one 3G and one 3GS) and both have the same issue. When I sync them with iTunes everything works fine but when I check the calendar entries on my iPhones everything is one hour later than the ones on my Outlook 2000. I've already checked the GMT setting on both Outlook and Windows, also the iPhone sync with my computer time and GMT when I connect it to the docking station so they are always the same.
    Anyone has an idea about what is going wrong? Or is just a Outlook 2000 sync issue since I recall to have read somewhere that it's not a supported version?

    Outlook 2000 is not supported. For contacts, these are the only supported Windows applications: Outlook 2003 & 2007, Windows Address Book (Outlook Express), Vista Windows Contacts, Yahoo! Address Book, Google Contacts. For calendars: Outlook 2003 & Outlook 2007.

  • Success with 150+/ Verizon Packages in the DC Metro area?

    Has anyone had any luck getting a 150+ package in the DC metro area?
    I just went through 3 days of pain trying to upgrade my 75/75 to 150/150 and finally had to cancel the order.  Now I'm waiting to see how bad my billing gets screwed up.
    Tuesday I had the ONT port switched to copper/Router to copper.  Still get 75/75 (85/85 really) download speeds.  Onsite tech said it wasn't turned on to 150 yet, and give it an hour and left.  Nice guy, left his personal number and such if I needed help.  My Services still showed 75/75 online.  That made sense with what Herb told me.
    Tuesday night phone support they said it would speed up at 10pm when the billing system updated to 150/150.  Ok no big deal.
    Wednesday it didn't update in My Services, nor did my speeds improve.  Networking support all say that I'm fully setup at 150, verified.  Told me wait 24 hours for billing to catch up.  My Services section of Verizon.com said I was still at 75/75 by the end of the night.
    The Wednesday support guys insisted I run the optimizer tool on my system, which ended up breaking my Direct Access connectivity for work and screwing me for about 2 hours while I figured out what it broke.  (sidenote:  run "netsh interface tcp reset" to un-screw what it does).  I had to uncable half my house to prove that gigabit directly off the router still showed the same speeds.  (i have cisco grade networking equipment throughout my home that they can't trust, understandable for troubleshooting, no complaints there).
    Today, it now says I have 150/150 AND 75/75 in My Services.  And now they want to send another tech to my house on Sunday. 
    I gave up and just canceled the order and went back to my 75/75.  I'm thinking they just can't handle it in my neighborhood, or that reminiscence of 75/75 still in my account was messing something up.  Either way, too tired to keep trying. 
    To make things even worse, the automated phone system kept calling me trying to verify the system was fixed.  Press 1 to close the ticket, press 2 to talk to technicians again.  I naturally pressed 2 everytime it called so that they wouldn't ignore the problem and close my ticket. This happened 3-4 times a day throughout the whole process, starting around 830am or so, and stopping around 6-7pm i think.
    Anyways, just curious if anyone actually got this working.

  • Using airport express with a verizon hotspot for the internet.

    I recently purchased a new laptop. Wanting to be able to print from my laptop and not having to connect the USB printer cable I purchased an Airport Express router. I use a Verizon HotSpot it get access to the internet. My problem is that I am unable to print data from the internet since I have to disconnect from it to gain access to my network printer. Any ideas how to be able to print data from the internet using my network printer?

    I don't have one of these to verify, but have you tried reconfiguring your AirPort Express Base Station (AX) as a wireless client? In this configuration, the AX would join the wireless network created by your Verizon Hotspot device and its USB port would be enabled to share the attached USB printer.
    To set up the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) as a "Wireless Client," using the AirPort Utility, either connect to the AX's wireless network or temporarily connect your computer directly (using an Ethernet cable) to the Ethernet port of the AX, and then, try these settings:
    Perform a "Factory Default" reset on the AX.
    Launch the AirPort Utility.
    Select the AX.
    If not already connected to the AX's wireless network, go ahead and switch to it when prompted.
    AirPort Utility > Select the AX > Manual Setup > AirPort > Wireless
    Wireless Mode: Join a wireless network
    Network Name: <type in the network name/SSID of the wireless network that you want to join or select it from the pop-up menu>
    Wireless Security: None OR, if you are using security on your wireless network:
    Wireless Security: <Select the appropriate level of security for the existing wireless network: WPA/WPA2 Personal | WPA2 Personal>
    Password: <enter your wireless network security password>
    Verify Password: <re-enter the same security password>
    Click Update to write the new settings to the AX.

    I had this issue and couldn't figure out what it was for the life of me. I am running windows 7 and the latest version of itunes. I tried multiple reinstalls of itunes and restores of the ipod. I finally got it fixed by following this guide.

    Edge has very clear restrictions, one being that you must have 6 months of clean payment history which you don't. Either wait until April 14, or good luck at Sprint.
    I am unsure how it can be determined the payment mix up was the fault of CS, but regardless, the mix up was done. There can be any number of reasons why a payment could be missed without any fault on your part, however you are still the responsible party for the account and must live with the repercussions.
