My cool apple iphone runs like a nerdy pc!
A lot of my apps quit working because I don't have software version 3.0. I went to itunes to get it but I couldn't because I didn't have itunes version 8.1. I downloaded and installed itunes 8.1, now when I plug in my iphone I get an error message:
"iTunes requires a newer version of Apple Mobile Device Support. Please uninstall both Apple Mobile Deice Support and iTunes, then install iTunes again."
I don't want to update and uninstall and reinstall. I just want the stupid iphone to work like the commercial. Isn't this exactly the kind of problem that makes the nerdy brown jacketed pc so uncool in the Apple advertisements?
Apple likes to replace everything when there are updates (they don't just put new pieces on)...so perhaps you had your iPhone plugged in when you updated iTunes, thus the driver was being used, thus it couldn't put the new version on. So all I can say is do what it says and try not to have the iPhone plugged into computer as well (I am just guessing here btw)

Yes it is done through iTunes. The iPhone will never show up in Finder as a device. I have an original iPhone running version 2.2.1. I wish to get rid of the phone, but before discarding it I want to remove the email records, phone book information, and photos. I would like to leave the other apps in place. Any suggestions?
Delete you mail account on the phone and disable to sync your mail account in the info pane in iTunes with your phone connected, same for contacts. Also deselect photo syncing in the photo pane. After the following sync, your mail, contact and photos should be gone.
Photos inside the camera roll have to be deleted on the phone.
Remember, that apps only can be used with the account they were bought with. If the phone will be set up with a different iTunes account, all of your apps will be removed.

Sounds like you bought an AT&T no contract phone. You will need to contact AT&T for unlocking but they are only doing so for current and previous account holders. If you have never had service with them they will not unlock your phone.

Contact the original cellular provider, as they are the only ones that can provide unlocking.

I cannot download photos from my apple iphone 4
I cannot download photos from my apple iphone 4. I rang apple who took me through some instructions and talked me through to what to do. We tried both a laptop pc (windows 7) and an apple macbook pro and tried two different cables.
Cannot seem to download any photos at all, both laptop do not seem to recognise the device.
Apple told me to email the photos, this is impracticle as there is such a large quantity.
My issue is still not resolved.
Can you help??1. You did not get an error message telling you that your iPhoto library was getting full. You got a message telling you that your HD was getting full, right?
OS X needs about 10 gigs of hard drive space for normal OS operations - things like virtual memory, temporary files and so on.
Without this space your Mac will slow down as the OS hunts for space on the disk, files will be fragmented, also slowing things down, apps will crash and the risk of data corruption - that is damage to your files, photos, music - increases exponentially.
Your first priority is to make more space on that HD. Nothing else can be done until you do.
Purchase an external HD and move your Photos and Music to it. Both iPhoto and iTunes can run perfectly well with the Library on an external disk.
Your Library has been damaged from being run on an overfull disk.
How much free space on it now? -
Original Iphone Running Slow with 2.0 Upgrade?
After upgrading to the new software update 2.0, my original Iphone seems to be running slower than previously. This includes switching from applications, moving screens and even typing a simple note or text. Anyone else having this issue? If so, anyone have a quick fix on this? And yes, I have restarted the Iphone with no luck as well.
I think Apple is having massive issues with this whole "upgrade". In my opinion it has to do with the fact that applications can't run in the background (like most other real smartphones on the planet). I took my first generation iPhone into the store for this issue; the slowness progressed to the point that the entire phone crashed routinely requiring a full restore at least once every 3 days and several restarts a day. I had to restore my phone about 6 or 7 times a week.
I went into the store and they had a pile of 1st generation iPhones sitting there. Rather than go through the standard checklist of things that might be wrong, the Apple rep just handed me a new one and said that the new one should solve the issue. Three other customers were in there for the exact same reason; i overheard the rep tell one upset customer that it has to do with memory overload and that the memory module will eventually crash; hence the need for a new phone.
Going through this whole experience made me realize what an idiot i was to ditch my Curve for this garbage. I am waiting for the Blackberry Bold to be released and then i am ditching this paper-weight. Oh, and the new iPhone is even worse and is currently in restore mode as i write this.
Note to Apple; please continue to deny that you made a crappy product and continue to blame your issues on developers and the consumer. I am sure that business users like myself will be going back to RIM as soon as they can.
Advice to Business Apple iPhone Users; Sell your iPhone on ebay to some moron who is interested in playing Monkeyball and get a real business device that actually pushes email and doesn't crash three times a day. -
IPad 4th Gen and Safari crashing, plus running like a slug after IOS7 upg
Since I updated my iPad 4th Gen with the latest IOS it has become the worst piece of electronic equipment I own, I received in February as a birthday present and now I feel it’s totally useless.
Safari crashes constantly, it takes forever to open any url I try to go to, I have multiple I mean multiple tabs/ or whatever they call them now that I just cannot close, Its runs like a dead slug, it’s so slow, it’s a absolute nightmare.
I would actually liken it to the early days of Microsoft’s first attempts at windows, yea I know I said it. I’m typing this on my Windows 8 pc and you know what it actually works very very well. Unlike my nice new IPad, which after the update does not, the problems are too numerous to mention. What are apple doing about it ? and has anyone found a solution - fix - workaround please.I'm having the same issue. Safari is useless. I have tried numerous things to try to fix it and it is not working at all. It's slow and I can't close any tabs either. I just got my IPad 4 three weeks ago so I feel your pain. I wish Apple would fix this. I use Chrome and Mercury apps for browsing and they work just fine. However, I have no problems on my IPhone 4s with the update.

I have an apple iphone 4gs... It is synced with my outlook exchange in the office. If I do a search for emails that also checks the server then all of a sudden I end up with various amounts unread email with the inbox saying "Inbox 71" ..which is not true. The only way to make the inbox on the iphone back to 0 is to delete the account then re install it.

The unlocked IPhone 4S models will not be available until November, Why is that? Why would Apple do that? I should be able to buy a factory unlocked Apple iPhone 4S when it comes out! I travel all over the world, and so that is why I need one like that. It is unfair to the consumer, and frankly turning away customers like myself willing to pay high dollar to Apple for their product, who can I speak with to complain about this, because I know their are factory unlocked iPhone 4S' sitting in a warehouse somewhere just waiting to be shipped, and I want one. I know why, cause Apple signed contracts with each carrier so the carrier could increase their sales making customers sign 2 year contracts, I get it, I own my own business, but the delay of releasing factory unlocked ones is just not right and I should be able to buy one without having to buy it over in the UK where it is unlocked when it comes out right away, I should be able to buy it in my own country! These business practices we practice in the US need to stop, their is a demand that needs to be met with consumers like myself who don't need subsidized iPhone's with 2 year contracts with carriers and don't mine paying full price for an unlocked one, it is unethical in a sense, forcing the customer to buy it with a carrier contract and NOT giving the customer the option to buy it full price and own it themselves, OR, making the consumer wait a month for that option to be available. THEY SHOULD BE RELEASED AT THE SAME TIME!!!!!! THAT IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO!!!!!!
Apple can contact me and I will proudly pay for one. But making me wait a month for an unlocked one, puts AT&T, Sprint & Verizon's interests before mine, and that is not right, for it is MY money that keeps you guys in business, so my best interests should come first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I understand your frustration, but when any form of rationing is required you have to prioritise. The number of unlocked vs packaged phones will be quite small and the number of unlocked buyers wishing to upgrade immediately will be smaller still. Against this you have the corporations sharing $billions between them.
It would, you're correct, have been fairer to release all at the same time, but fairer doesn't come into it: it's business. -
can you see which apps are open and/or running (like you can on an android phone by going to settings>applications>running services)?

thank you for the help. I should have said I had a iphone 3. A friend has the same phone and she showed me how she can see what web pages are open when she double taps the home button. Mine is set to bring up favourites when I double tap (chosen from settings>general>home button).. BUT my choices are only HOME; SEARCH; PHONE FAVORITES; CAMERA or IPOD. I changed my choice to HOME but that just defeats the purpose as when I am at the home page and double tap nothing happens. Am I making sense? -

If the touch screen physically doesn't work, it's too late to back it up. You should have been syncing your contacts with something... a cloud service or contact manager on a PC. If you were not, then I'm afraid you're going to lose them.

why is my mac so slow i have cleansed and cleaned it is a 2010 mac mini i5 but it runs like a 20 year old pc i have only had it for a few months and it was straight out of the box
I'm thinking that you have a > Mac mini (Mid 2011) - Technical Specifications because the 2010 model's only have Core 2 Duo processors and the 2011 had the first i5 processor.
2 GB of RAM is the minimum requirement for Mountain Lion, but it's hardly enough to really enjoy doing anything else.
