My creative cloud license is now making each app ask for a serial number
What do I do? I have a creative cloud license that in fact paid 2 days ago, but when I try and boot any application in the suite it says it is a trial and that I need to enter a serial number. WTF!
I am on Mac OS X 10.8.2 and have the full creative cloud licensed. It was working perfectly well until 2 days ago. Nothing has changed, but it is not working. Please help!
OK... I'm in. I was sent a link for an updated Adobe Application Manager.
Installed it, opened InDesign, got prompted to sign into my cloud account, and no prompt for a serial number this time.
I'm back in business. Here are the links provided (Mac or PC) by the support person.

I don't know how that is possible, since Cloud accounts do not use a serial number... you download & install & activate Cloud programs with your Cloud log in to your paid account

I have the Creative Cloud Photography plan why am I being asked for a serial number?
I ordered the Creative Cloud Photography plan yesterday and I believe I haven't got the serial number. I've looked under My Products, I've looked under My Orders, I've checked my email...I just keep going in circles and I don't know how to start using the product that I paid for. :S

C2ro as a member of the Creative Cloud Photography plan there is no need for a serial number. If you are being asked for a serial number then there is likely a connection error preventing the active membership from being authorized on the computer. In my case, I had to remove the following lines from the hosts file:
120.0.0.1 lmlicenses.wip4.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 lm.licenses.adobe.com
After that all worked again. Hope this helps.

Creative Cloud for teams downloads as a trial and asks for a serial number
My employer purchased a Creative Cloud for teams account. I'm using my Adobe ID and trying to install the applications on my laptop at home. When the applications launch, they say I'm running a trail version. Then I'm given the option to license the software or continue the trial. When I click license this software, I sign in with my Adobe ID then it asks for a serial number. I don't have the serial number from my employer. Shouldn't it just be enough that I sign in with my registered Adobe ID and password?

Welcome to Adobe Forum,
Creative cloud do not need a serial number. it will be using your Adobe ID on which you have purchased the creative cloud membership.
So you need to login with your Adobe ID and password to activate the cloud membership.
Log out & log back in of the CC Desktop App.
In case it is not signing in successfully please try the following:
I don't know which operating system you are working on so i am giving you some steps windows and MAC OS:
Windows:
In windows 7 navigate to following location:
/windows/system32/drivers/etc
1. look out for "Hosts" file
2. Open it with notepad
3. Check if you have any entry for Adobe
4. Remove the entries and try again launching any product from CC
Mac:
1. Please click on "Go" and navigate to /private/etc
2. Open "hosts" file and check out for any entries for Adobe.com
3. Remove the entries and save the file
4. try again launching any product from CC

I bought a CS3 creative suite on a student license in 2008. The original MAC laptop has died and I am trying to install it on a MAC desktop. the programs installs successfully but never ask for a serial number. the programs will open but I can not open any files, I get a Adobe Updater quite unexpectedly message. Is this because the serial number has not been entered? I have tried chat about this problem twice, also use Adobe connect and was not helped. How do I enter this serial number?
activate is grayed out. Registration is available and when I select it, it says "A problem was encountered while trying to send the information over the internet" So I select "submit again" and nothing happens. Then the program closes and I get the added updater quite message.

I have an active creative cloud subscription, yet I am still being asked for serial numbers. How do I proceed?
How did you download the software? For Creative Cloud, you should download from http://creative.adobe.com (which will install through an application called AAM). If you have a trial installation, and bought Creative Cloud, that could be the cause.

Sign out from Creative Cloud and sign in again using email ID using which you had purcahsed subscription:

Then launch CC apps which is asking for serial number and check.
Still asks for serial number check the hosts file for Adobe entries , if present remove it and try to activate.
1) Right click on the Finder icon on dock and select "Go-To Folder" option.
2) You will get a text box, type-in below mentioned command and then hit 'Return' key.
/etc
3) It will open the etc folder, please look for file named "hosts" and copy the same to Desktop screen.it
4)Double click on Hosts file , it will open it with TextEdit, If present Delete Adobe entries present inside Hosts file like 127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com.......etc
5)Copy and paste the Hosts file back to "Etc" folder.
When asked Authenticate with your Mac password.
Make sure to select "Replace" option when prompted.
Then launch CC apps which is asking for serial number and check. -

Installing Photoshop CS4 from original Disk onto my new Macbook Pro. Serial number accepted but now asks for the serial number of a previous version e.g. CS3 which I no longer keep. How do I resolve ?
Tina Hadley did you migrate/transfer your applications over to your new Macintosh? If so this could cause problems with your serial number being recognized. Please run the available uninstallers located in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers folder. Once this is done you will also want to run the CC Cleaner Tool. My PowerBook had Adobe Creative Suite 4 on it before it died. I had to have a new hard drive and ram disks installed. Now I can't reload the Creative Suite. How can I do it? I don't really need to upgrade for my purposes.
