My Creative Zen Micro isn't recognized by my Creative Organi

I have a plain old, 6GB Zen Micro, which I got last Christmas.
In June, we sent it in for repair, and it has returned working fine.
Then we got a new computer. I downloaded the software and everything, and then I went ahead and connected it to the computer.
It was, and still is, recognized by my computer, as well as Windows Media Player and the Device Manager.
It isn't however, being recognized by my Creative Organizer.
Do I need to install something else? Is there something else I need to do?
Any help will be appreciated.
And I'm using Windows XP Home Edition, if it hel

Accommodations,
You need to download and install the respecti've plugin file too before the Organizer can detect the player. First determine the firmware version of your current Zen Micro player. If it's version .xx.xx, you need to get those Zen/Nomad Jukebox Plugin. If it's version 2.xx.xx, then get the PlaysForSure Devices Plugin file.

• Creative Zen Micro isn't detected

When I connect the Creative Zen Micro with the USB cable the computer asks me wether I'd like to synchronise my player with Windows Media Player or do nothing, but then it always gives me a message, that the computer can't detect the player. I can't put new music on it, for example via explorer, nor I can update the Firmware or something else. I rolled Windows Media Player back on a lower edition and installed WMP0, but it still does not work. I use Windows XP.
Additional the player rebuilds library everytime I switch it on, plus some time ago there were several music files on the player deleted - without me doing anything.
Does somebody know what to do?

Did you erase your firmware?Have you done a Cleanup>Reboot on the player? http://forums.creative.com/creativel...ap&thread.id=3

• Zen Micro MTP not recognized? Solution in he

So, after scouring the forums here and Google in search for a reason why my MTP enabled Zen Micro wasn't being recognized in a fresh WinXP install. Well here's the solution everybody.
Try installing this:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;8922
I noticed that the player isn't recognized by drivers from the net or the Zen Micro CD (They're both the same anyways). The reason why is because the Device ID for the Zen Micro with the MTP firmware is different (USB\VID_04E&PID_430\00525530038FF3). If you open up the .inf file used to install this player, the Device ID is not in there.
I had another XP install on another HDD which recognized the Zen Micro and noticed that only a single file was being used for the drivers: wpdusb.sys.A search on Google brought me to the Microsoft KB page. I installed that patch and poof instant recognition.
I also believe this issue could be resolved if you install the latest Windows Media Player 0 available. I had it installed, but somehow that file wasn't installed and the update provided it for me.
I hope this helps somebody~! =)

The only other suggestion to what the problem could be is a a software conflict of the driver and current software on your system that is interferring with the recognizing of your player. I had the same problem happen, and I tried my Micro on three different computers, and the Micro worked, instantly, and my Zen use to work on my computer before an upgrade.
Somewhere in between of any other updates of software on the computer, there must be a conflict. My player will become recognizable once in a blue moon, which also leads to the conclusion of software conflict, or possibly IRQ issue.
Maybe the latest driver just released may fix the issues of eliminating if it doesn't cause any conflicts with other softwares that are on your system for your Micro to be recognized.

• Problems with Zen Micro Photo being recognized

I have a Zen Micro Photo 8 GB player, which I have had for a couple of years, and have had no problems. I recently purchased a new computer, and have Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3. I have installed the Creative Zen software from the supplied CD, and when I plug in the player and turn the player on, and open Zen Micro Photo Media Explorer, it says "Your player is not connected. Please connect your Zen MicroPhoto to your computer."? The player has firmware .20.0. The player plays well - ... Any suggestions?

Thanks. In addition to the OS and firmware I noted, I have Windows Media Player 0 installed on the computer.
Did that help you to get the player recognized?

• Zen Micro isn't working on 2 computers out of th

Hi everybody.
Once I updated my zen micro player's firmware, it doesn't work on 2 computers out of 3.
There doesn't seem to be any sort of conflict with the device. The Zen Micro works on my laptop that runs a windows xp HOME edition. This seems to be the only difference with the other two computers, that have an OS win xp PRO.
The weird thing is that when I connect the device, a window pops out asking me if I want to synchronize the files. So far so good. The problem is that it is not recognized, there doesn't seem to be any device connected to the computer, and the pc asks me to connect the device. On the Device Manager the player is shown normally, that's why I say there should be no conflicts.
I tried unistalling and re-installing the installation cd, I also tried to update several times the player with a new driver. But I cannot do anything with the player because the pc tells me to connect the device.
This is driving me insane.
Hope somebody can help! =)

johnnyenglish,
Take a look at knowledgebase article #0053. It covers this topic and how to resolve it.

Hey i think i know what your problem is. What Operating System are u running on your computer? (Windows XP, ME etc) And also, if running XP do you have service pack installed? If you dont have service pack installed, you cant use your player. The system requirements can be found on the back of the zen micro photo box. goodluck!!

• Zen Micro isn't turning

so today my Zen Micro was sitting in my lap and it fell from about 3.5 ft. onto hardwood floor!! now when i boot it up it says CREATIVE and then the lights turn off but it still says CREATIVE and won't do anything after that. what should i do?!?!?!

Call Creative and get an RMA. A fall from that high up is a pretty bad fall for a hard dri've and the result is what you are experiencing.

• I can't get my zen micro to be recogni

we wiped the hard dri've a reccently and i installed the firmware, but it won't recognize my zen micro so i can't play the songs that are currently on my mp3 player. i called creative but he said i extended my days to ask for help so he wouldn't really help me, but he said to install everything and i did(creative mediasource organizer, creative mediasource audio converter, and creative mediasource player)but in the player section, where it normally lists PC music library, music store, my computer, and zen micro, it won't say zen micro. i'm not making myself very clear. umm, basically it won't get my songs from the mp3 player to the computer(it's plugged in) and i'm leaving the country soon, so i really need my music(i can't add music to it either) so please help me! ASAP!

• My Zen Micro isn't work

I turned on my Zen Micro today to listen to a recording, and I got as far as the recording page before it froze. So I figured that if I connect it to the computer, I might be able to access the recording. But it stayed frozen when I connected it. It wouldn't turn off, and none of the buttons would work, and though it made the little beeping sound when I connected it to the computer, it said the player was not connected.
I tried following?the directions on the self-help page to fix it myself, but nothing worked. I tried rebooting (it froze at the "Creative" screen, as it had when I tried taking the battery out and putting it in again). I tried the clean up option (it froze on a screen that said "Scan Disk..." for over 30 mins before I gave up) and I tried reformatting it (it froze on the "formatting..." screen for an hour before I took the battery out again).
Nothing is working, and I would like to know what to do. Oh, and because it won't connect to the computer, I can't do the new firmware option at all, because it would just lose everything. Help!

I have, mulitple times. Every time I stick it back in, it just comes right on to the frozen "creative" screen. It is also now no longer charging, so I can't turn it on whatsoever, even to get to the "Creative" screen.

• HELP my Zen Micro isn't recognised by my compute

My zen micro plays fine but I cannot connect it to my computer. IT FREEZES!! So I can't add new songs on it. What can I do? I'm afraid to format since I still might not be able to connect it to my computer. And then all I will be left with is a piece of plastic that cost me close to 300$.

• My Zen Micro isn't wor

help! it comes on it goes through the process of coming on but it gets stuck when the Zen MIcro screen comes on...it won't show my music what should i do

Have you tried running the Clean-up Disk utility from the Recovery Menu? It can sometimes help when your player is having problems.
Remove the battery briefly and hold the ON switch to on [fully to the left] when you replace the battery.
That will bring up the Recovery Menu.
I'd try:
?Clean Up first, and then Reboot
If that doesn't work, try these options:
?Format [note you will lose all your tracks/photos/data, etc if you format, so make sure you've got copies of the files you want to keep!]
?Reload Firmware as a last resort.
If none of those work, contact Customer Support.

i tried formatting it i tried cleaning it i tried to reload the firmware but i cant reload it if it wont recognize

What do you mean it won't 'recognize' ?
Do you mean the PC won't recognize it's
If so, make sure you aren't running WMP.
Make sure you have the latest drivers.
You can try to reinstal the Zen software from your instalation CD.
Try to plug it to another PC IF available.
If not, contact costumer support by email or by phone.

• Zen Micro not recognized - 1 millionth complai

I've read scores of posts on this topic: my Zen Micro isn't recognized by my computer.
When I connect the player to my computer, I get a message that the "usb device is not recognized" and the player itself freezes and the only solution is to remove the battery.
I'm using the v2.-firmware. My pc uses WindowsXP Home Edition, SP2.
Things I've already tried:
- uninstalled and reinstalled the creative drivers and software
- downloaded every possible driver or software update the creative website has to offer for my OS
- tried another usb slot and another usb cable
- updated the usb drivers
- uninstalled the usb ports and reinstalled them
- in the hardware list, double clicked the "unknown device" that should be the player and tried to manually direct it to the correct drivers
- connected another Zen Micro to my pc, this one also isn't recognized
- connected my Zen Micro to another pc running Linux, this works!
- cleaned up the disk in the recovery menu
- went to the regedit menu, adjusted the permissions in hkey_local_machine>system>Enum
All of these were possible solutions I found online, but none of them work. I already contacted Tech Support through e-mail, but the only advice they give me are things I've already tried, even though I specifically mention the list of all the things I've already tried in EVERY e-mail I exchange with them.
One thing they also advized me to do, is to reload the firmware, but this is impossible since the computer won't recognize that the player is indeed connected to it.
The funny thing is, if I remove all the creative drivers and software and then reinstall it all, there's a slim chance of it working again -- temporarily. Sometimes the player is still not recognized, sometimes it gets recognized by the pc but not by the software, sometimes it'll work perfectly but only once. In this case, it'll work for just that moment but the next day, when I reconnect the player (without even rebooting the pc or anything) it'll just go back to the same old "usb device not recognized" message.
Is this the time when I'm officially allowed to get desperate?

Daniel,
thanks for your reply!
I'd already installed the hotfixes your referred to, but did so again - just to make sure. Unfortunately, the problem remains...
st time I connected the player after installing the hotfixes, I didn't get any "usb device not recognized"-message. The player was listed in Device Manager, but unfortunately the software still didn't acknowledge that a player was connected (I tried Creative MediaSource Organizer and Windows Media Player 0). Meanwhile, the player itself still freezes. You get as far as the "now playing" screen, but it doesn't go to the "connected" screen you're supposed to see when you've connected your player and you're going to transfer data. Again, the only way to shut down the player was to remove the battery.
2nd time I reconnected it, I suddenly got a "new hardware found" message. A few seconds later the pc reports that the new hardware is installed correctly and is ready for use, followed by the old "usb device not recognized" message. Player is frozen, as usual.
3rd time. Back to square one: player is frozen and I get the old "device not recognized" message again.
