  • When I record an audio track, there is a waveform. When I stop recording, the waveform disappears and becomes a straight line. It also disappears from the track edit window. But the sound is there. How can I stop the waveform from disappearing?

When I record an audio track using Logic Pro X, there is a visible waveform which appears as I record. When I stop recording, the waveform disappears and becomes a straight line. It also disappears from the track edit window. But the sound is still there. How can I stop the waveform from disappearing? And can I do something to view it after it has disappeared? Anyone know the anser?

    In Logic:
    Preferences/Audio Set Recording Delay to 0 <zero>
This should always be set to zero unless a specific set of circumstances exist and you're audio drivers do not report position correctly.
On occasion, usually when importing a Logic 9 project, Logic-X randomly changes this to a negative/positive number.  It's actually a bug in Logic, as it should always display the waveform.

  • Losing audio when merging separate video & audio tracks. (fcp 5.14)

I am merging separate audio and video tracks. When I go to Modify >Merge, the resultant merged clip is missing the last 25% of the audio track. So it plays correctly and is synched correctly, but the audio just disappears 75% into the video. This shouldn't be the case as the audio takes are all longer than the video takes.
When I pull the audio track into the sequence and sync it up to the video track in the sequence editor, it plays fine. I'm not sure what could be causing this problem, as it has only cropped recently. I've had no problems merging clips by using Modify > Merge before. I tried changing the audio from 44.1 khz to 48.0 khz and back again, but i run into the same problem in both.

Try this ridiculous workaround. I don't know why it works this way.
These "---" are the extra steps.
To get a good merged subclip.
Open the audio file and add the 'in point' to the slate.
---Drag audio clip to the timeline.
---Drag the audio clip from the timeline to the browser window.
    Merge with video.
Viola. Audio won't drop out. But the waveforms are completely off with the sound.
Next step is to open the merged clips and Make Subclip so you don't have that extra media in the beginning and end. And the waveform seem normal.

  • Capturing only 1 audio track when there are 2 audio tracks

Has this happened to anybody ?
I had to fiddle with the capture settings in Final Cut to accommodate for progressive HDV video. When I changed it back to my normal interlaced HDV video, I had trouble with the sound tracks. (I have tried changing all the settings in the HDV 50i possibilities. I'm in europe)
I only get one sound track in stead of two (but I can hear both sound tracks when I capture).
If I get 2 sound tracks, They aren't imported into the project. If I try to import them without restarting, final cut doesn't recognize them.
But recently, no matter what I do (changing settings) I only get 1 audio track.
    Ideas ?
    Thanks !

I would like to add to this thread. I have this same issue, it's extraordinarily frustrating, and I'm not finding any useful information online. This is a serious bug and hopefully it can be addressed.
    FCP 7.0.2
    MacPro 2 x 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    16 GB RAM
    Mac OS 10.6.4
I'm trying to capture HDV 1080i footage shot on a Sony V1U, using a Sony HDV deck that I've used hundreds of times without running into this issue. The footage has two audio tracks -- of this I am absolutely 100% certain -- yet when batch importing clips, Final Cut captures only 1 track. This happens whether or not I have it set to capture a stereo pair or two mono tracks.
Again, there is no issue with the tape or the audio. It's there. I can sit and watch the preview meters in the FCP clip settings tab as I play it, and both channels register and display levels independently. Final Cut is capturing only one of them. For the life of me I can't figure out why.
I have trashed preferences. Restarted. Rebooted. Tried multiple Easy Setups. I still get only one track of audio when batch capturing. Amazingly, if I Capture Now from the exact same tape, I get two channels of audio. I have a project with hundreds of clips already logged - I need to batch capture them.
If anyone has insight into this bug, please help. Thanks!

  • Why dose Premier (CS6) Crash when I change the Audio Hardware to System Default?

I am running a brand new Imac, i7 3.4ghz, 32gb ram and updated.  Full Adobe Production suite installed and updated.  My Audio interface is the Akai EIE Pro with the latest 2.8.18 drivers installed.
If a launch Audition, After effects, Logic, they all see the audio interface and work seemlessly.  When I launch Premier it does not see the EIE Pro interface and when I change the Default Audio interface to System Default Input/output Premier crashes immediately.  I have tried an earlier version of the EIE Pro drivers with the same results.  It doesn't make sense to me that it would work fine in After Effects but not Premier.
Here is the following crash report.    Anybody else have this issue or have any ideas on what to do?
    Cheers!!

Steve, the partial crash log is an unofficial unwritten rule around here.  The cause of the crash is usually near the top of the log anyway.  The hardware profile is at the bottom.  That can be helpful some times.
But, most of the contents only make sense to software engineers.
Search for the .plist without ".plist" in the search criteria.
    Or, look in /System/Library/LaunchDaemons
    Best of luck,

  • In Photoshop CC timeline, when I add an audio track photoshop CC either quits working or it skips to the end of the video clip.  If I just put in audio it works fine.  If I just put in clips or pics it works fine, but now when audio is added

When I try to use the timeline portion of photoshop, I can't get the audio to work with my clips.  I can get audio to work fine when using just audio, but the minute I try to add audio to a set of clips either photoshop quits working or it skips to the last clip in my show.  I don't understand why this happens.  I am using the same track each time.  Very frustrating.

Topic or subject titles should be clear, pertinent and concise so that individual users can tell at a glance if they can help or not.
That field is not for attempting to fit your entire question in there.
Please keep this in mind next time you post.  Thank you.

  • Logic Pro when recording audio and midi takes, the regions sometimes become confused. The midi tracks line up with audio tracks.

When recording midi and audio tracks simutaneously the midi tracks don't always line up with the software instrument channel. They may show up on the audio track. Sometimes they appear white instead of the normal green. Any suggestions?

  • Soloed Audio Tracks Won't Play Logic 9.1.8 - Background Still Does

I have a 59 track session in Logic 9.1.8. I've encountered a very odd problem. Multiple audio tracks, even when soloed, will not play; however background audio/other tracks still do. For instance, I've imported a rough vocal track to the mix and when I solo the track, I do not the vocals however I hear kick drum and piano tracks which have been muted. I have double checked every audio track's output, automation, etc…and read several other posts to try and find anyone with a similar issue, to no avail.
Some specs - the majority of the tracks are imported Audio, I have attempted to solve the issue from my MacBook Pro (2013) AND from my studio system. All of the audio and session information are stored on our dropbox server, however other projects still work fine.
Here's where it gets super weird - I even tried started the session over again and just importing in the audio tracks from scratch and there is STILL a problem - I imported 5 of the drum tracks - kick, hat, snare, taiko, and noise percussion. When I solo the taiko track, I hear the audio from the kick track and NO AUDIO from the taiko track, and this is a BRAND NEW SESSION.
    Someone PLEASE HELP.

In Logic's preferences/Audio... Is Universal Track Mode enabled?  It should be.

  • Motion 4.0.3 Audio track crashes

I'm animating to a narration track, and therefore have to split/move the audio every now and again. If I touch the audio track Motion crashes.
I've browsed the Motion posts, and saw many posts over the last four years describing a similar problem, but didn't find a solution. Is Motion persnickety about the audio file type? I imported my audio as .mov from a FCP export (not self contained.)
Below is an excerpt from my latest crash log -- only the crashed thread. It looks like Oz is involved. I saw in posts from 2006 that the Ozone plug-in was a problem, but that it seemed to be fixed by updates... which I've long ago done.
I'd greatly appreciate help with this.
    Thanks,
    Bruce

Thanks Adam. I called tech support. But the guy I was connected to had nothing better to say than it was my problem, since it was my audio file that was the culprit. This despite the fact that the audio file plays fine in Final Cut, and that I imported the audio file two separate times -- once as a .mov and once as .aiff, to new Motion projects. I did this on two different machines, and got the same crashes upon touching the audio file.
I don't see a reason to re-install Motion from scratch since I have the same result on two machines, and other posts have noted the same problem even after re-install.
That said, I would be interested to know if anyone has solved this by reinstalling.

  • Quicktime Audio - discrete channels vs. assigned audio tracks

    Hello everyone,
I just recently started using Quicktime 7 Pro's audio options.
Now there is an issue I need help understanding:
A partner sent me a mov file with 8 discrete audio channels (l,r,c,lfe,ls,rs,lt,rt). When I play the mov, I only hear ambience/background audio. I hear no dialog. When I assign each channel using cmd+j -> audio settings I can hear every audio track correctly (atleast I think so, is there a way/software to check whether every single track has output?).
I tested playback with VLC and it plays the audio fine, without any adjustments (also only tested by hearing).
I start distributing digital movies to cinema operators. Is there an audio standard for digital cinema ProRes movs? Are cinema operators okay with 8-ch discrete audio mov files? Do their players ignore or use the lt/rt? I guess it depends on the cinema operator but maybe there's a standard. I'm keen to learn.
    Thank you in advance, cheers
    Loki

What are you doing with these clips after you digitise, and before you export them? Make sure that if you edit your clips into a Sequence, you are not re-establishing them as a stereo pair (in the Timeline, if the clips display with a little 'bowtie' icon, they are enabled as a stero pair). Also, don't forget to check how you're monitoring your audio.
The process you've just done should absolutely create what you need.

  • Adjacent audio tracks

    Hello all.
When I add an audio track to my project, an empty video track gets added too. Is there a way to stop this from happening? Likewise, is there a way of adding extra video tracks without them being accompanied by empty audio tracks? I'm working on a tiny screen!
    Thanks for reading,
    Mark.

Thanks Steve, but I think we may be talking at cross-purposes here. When I say adjacent, I mean vertically adjacent, and when I say track, I guess what I really mean is channel. I'd like to be able to have two, three or more audio channels on top of each other in the timeline, but when I right-click in the timeline header it seems I can't specify single audio tracks (channels) to add, I always have to plump for a minimum of one video channel as well.
    No way around this?
    Cheers,
    Mark.

  • OMG - Help! Why can't I freely move an audio track?

I'm not a novice to iMovie '11, but this is the first time I've had to sync an audio track to the video. Basically, it's a music video. The audio track is the song. I need to sync the video to the track, and the video will be cut into numerous clips. Before Apple totally screwed with the interface, I could have two audio tracks which allowed me to freely move the audio to any point in the video. And it laid out the entire "song" so that I could just keep adding video clips to it and know where the heck I was in the audio. Now when I add an audio track, it gives me a tiny clip of it - I can't extend it to see the entire thing. When I try to add it to existing video in the timeline, it only goes to the end of the video - I can't extend it or move it to sync up. It's locked in place. Am I going to have to go through and edit the audio and the video down exactly before they sync up? That's gonna take me forever. At this point, I wish I could go back to iMovie HD where I could get this down in a straightforward way. I don't get the new system at all, and I've about had it.

Sarah, I think what is happening is you are creating a 'background audio' clip. What you can do to delete that background clip first is to go to the Project Browser on the timeline and click the colored area behind the video clips that designates the audio track. When you see a yellow highlight around the whole audio section (it will be colored in either green or purple) hit delete.
Now to drag the audio clip into the timeline you will first need at least one video clip sitting there to act as an anchor for your floating audio track. Drag the audio and drop dead center on that video clip. iMovie will understand that this is fundamentally different than a background track and give you a floating title bubble you can drag left and right as needed. And depending on the length of the song you should be able to see the whole thing if you need it by using the zoom slider underneath the Project Browser window, lower right.
When you need to cut down the length of a video clip, first select the whole thing by holding CTRL then clicking on the clp. Then drag the left/right edges of the video clips where you would like them to matchup in the beat of the song. The handles on the sides can then be used to Trim Clip to selection, to shorten the length. With the clip highlighted and the selection handles dragged into postion go to Clip Menu>Trim to selection

  • How to repalce audio track in PR or AE?

Assume that I recorded my voice and detected my voice frequency and waves, then i wanna replace an audio of a video im my voice frequency and it will perform my voice,it sounds like my voice.do anyone know how many softwares i need? and i to process.thx, can AE or PR accomplish this task?

You can use Audacity to record you voice - http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
export Audacity audio file (your voice track) as an MP3
    Import this MP3 into PPro
Lock video track and delete original unwanted audio track
select your new mp3 and paste to time line of the deleted audio track
Test and adjust if audio needs to be In-sync etc.
When happy with new audio track and video unlock video track.
Locking the video track allows just the audio track to be edited.

  • Mp3 audio tracks for Blu ray menus

Hello, i have 3 blu ray menus (720p) and have linked each menu to a different audio file to play when the user selects the menu. When i preview, all audio tracks play correctly for each menu. After burning, only the main menu plays the audio while the others do not. I created a folder during the build process. My preset is Mpeg - 2. Any help would be appreciated.
    thanks.

    Welcome to the forum.
Some MP3's work fine, but some others do not.
I always convert any MP3 to PCM/WAV @ 48KHz 16-bit, and have never had an issue.
Now, as I often am working with DD 5.1 SS, when that is the case, I Export to DD AC3 @ 48KHz 16-bit, and those have always worked fine too.
Let us know if things work better with the PCM/WAV files, instead of those MP3's.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
