My current carrier is T-Mobile.  Can I use the iPhone with them?

My current carrier is T-Mobile.  I'd like to buy an iPhone.  Can I use T-Mobile with the iPhone?

There is a great deal of confusion about the contract-free T-Mobile iPhone 6.  Even some Apple support insist it is NOT an unlocked iPhone and must be activated on the T-Mobile network and used for at least 40 days before T-Mobile will unlock it.  So you would be better off not going that way at this time.
In addition, an iPhone purchased in the US will not have a warranty or support from Apple outside the US.  The iPhone has to be sent back to someone in the US to represent you in dealing with Apple if there are problems with it.

I want to buy an iphone 5s (GSM, SIM-Free).
While I travelling to India, can I use the iphone with a local-SIM in INDIA.

I am looking into buying an iphone 5s (GSM, SIM-Free) from apple store in US.
While in India, I am looking to use it with a local-SIM (Local carrier) in INDIA (Eg: Airtel, Vodaphone etc). Will it work ?
While browsing iphone products in the Apple store, I did not find any iphone referring to "Unlocked" but ended up with SIM-free as the only option (http://store.apple.com/us/buy-iphone/iphone5s/64gb-gold-unlocked?aid=www-k2-ipho ne%205s%20-%20index-n@p&cp=k2-iphone%205…).
I also found the following information from the apple store - When you travel internationally, you can use a nano-SIM card for iPhone 5s from a local GSM carrier. The unlocked iPhone 5s model is A1533 (GSM).
If Apple is the only source of unlocked iphones, could someone provide the link to the store.

  • Can one use  the iphone with car  stereo systems as one does an ipod?

My car has a "jack" for mpegs/ipod to interlace with the existing stereo. Is there an accessory that will allow me to use my iphone as one would an ipod with such systems?

    Dewey Cheatum,
Apple doesn't make most of the adapters out there. Instead Apple provides the specifications so that other manufacturer's can make products that are labeled as "Works with iPhone".
I would contact the manufacturer of the car stereo to see if they have one that is certified by them to meet the "Works with iPhone" standard. If the radio came with the car, then the dealer and car manufacturer would be the resource to utilize.
This link described how manufacturer's can get their products labeled as "Made for iPod" or "Works with iPhone".

    Hope this helps,

  • Can I use the iPhone 6 t-mobile version with straight talk?

Can I use the iPhone 6 t-mobile version with straight talk?

    All,
I have read and understand most of the post (s) on this: Apple Support Community:
It looks like the long way around my elbow approach: (piecing together an iPhone 6+ with a Straight Talk AT&T /T Mobile; Compatible Nano SIM Card) may yet work, just a bit gun shy on the $949.00 cost for the iPhone 6+ from Apple.
I live in Hawaii on the island of Oahu (north shore), and have  an iPhone 4 8gb cdma iPhone which is on Verizon's network rebranded by TFW / Straight Talk for several years. It works fine but I need an iPhone with more storage.
I have had a talk / chat with both sides Apple & Straight Talk, neither have real answers to support using the iPhone 6+ with Straight Talk as a carrier.
On the Apple site: " http://www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/ ". It is clear that Straight Talk has certified their LTE network with iPhone 6/6+ to meet basic standards.
I / we need all of the successful trail braisers on this community to post what works & what does not work.
What I plan / have to purchase / buy:
    Direct from Apple:
    1. Contract-free iPhone 6 Plus 128GB Space Gray (GSM) T-Mobile. (pending research to ensure it will work). Apple confirms, without the T Mobile nano sim that this iPhone is unlocked.
    Direct from Straight Talk:
    2. AT&T /T Mobile; Compatible Nano SIM Card. (GSM; on its way)
Would have purchased a Verizon Nano SIM Card from Straight Talk but they do not seem to have one.
All support, advice & information is greatly appreciated.

  • Can I use the iphone 5S unlocked t-mobile in Russia? Is it unlocked worlwide or only in the US?

Can I use the iphone 5S unlocked t-mobile in Russia? Is it unlocked worlwide or only in the US?

Yes, if purchased directly from Apple, NOT T-Mobile. If purchased from Apple, it will be officially unlocked.
Be aware, your warranty/support will only be valid in the US, & the phone will only support LTE in North America.

Can i use the iphone in Hong Kong?

You can't use it in Hong Kong with a local carrier if your phone is carrier locked to your current carrier.  No info in your post to detemine whether that's the case.  You can use if you want to pay high roaming charges.

If you unlock a phone, you can use it with any carrier. Just be aware that T-mobile is not a carrier that AppleCare tech support will be able to troubleshoot

No, nothing will prevent the computer from going to sleep when you close its display except third-party hacks that are designed to do exactly that. I strongly advise against using any of those, as they may interfere with successful entry into clamshell mode (and they carry other downside risks as well). Just wait until the computer is asleep (with its sleep light pulsing), then press any key on the keyboard. It sounds as though your setup is working as it's designed to do.

I doubt the phone is locked to GCI in any way
Well, you're wrong, & in fact not only is it locked, GCI does not offer unlocking for iPhones.
Fact is your post won't help the OP.
And you are 100% sure its locked to them? How can you know this? While GCI does not offer unlocking that does not mean the phone is actually locked to it. Get off your high horse.
Its possible the original owner had an unlocked phone. he was using with GCI. Or that GCI doesn't actually have locked phones. Seeing as they don't even have their own infrastructure but instead use AT&T's I doubt they'd have iPhones specifically locked to them and that would be the reason they do not offer unlocking (because there's nothing for them to unlock). And just to clarify, I'm not saying for a fact its not locked to them. It very well maybe be, but without knowing more about the phone and going by the fact GCI uses AT&T infrastrucure its possible its not locked. But here's no way to say for sure either way.
Trying a Sim card from AT&T or another carrier might just help the OP if its actually unlocked or locked to AT&T rather than GCI.

  • Hey Guys I Travel to the States and I am from Germany. I want to buy an iPhone 4S 8GB white Version unlocked GSM. Can I use the iPhone in Germany with every SIM Card?

Hey Guys I Travel to the States and I am from Germany. I want to buy an iPhone 4S 8GB white Version unlocked GSM. Can I use the iPhone in Germany with every SIM Card?

As long as you buy from an Apple retail Store (Apple owned ) an unlocked iPhone 4S it will work on GSM services worldwide
    from Apple.com
If you buy a SIM-free iPhone, you will need to purchase a GSM-compatible micro-SIM separately. When you travel internationally, you can use a micro-SIM card for iPhone 4s from a local GSM carrier.
The unlocked iPhone will not work with CDMA carriers such as Verizon Wireless or Sprint.
However the warranty will NOT be valid outside the US .If you need warranty or post warranty service you will have to return the iPhone to the US in person ( cannot mail in to US )

  • Can I use the IPhone in INDIA

    Hi all..
can any one help me in this regard..
I wanna buy a new IPhone.. but my problem is am going back to INDIA in september. So can i use the IPHONE in india permanently. Does this WORK ??

The iPhone is sold in the U.S. as carrier locked with AT&T Wireless only which means you cannot use another GSM network provider's SIM card with the iPhone so if this is what you mean, the answer is no.

Can I use the ipad with 3G in egypt if i bought it from the us

You will need to get a local micro-sim, but yes you should be able to. 3G iPads bought in the US are not locked to a carrier, but in order to use a local micro-sim you'll need the AT&T version if buying from the US - the Verizon iPads are CDMA based and don't use sim cards (so are effectively locked to Verizon)

  • How can i use my iphone with more than one itunes

how can i use my iphone with more than one itunes

    Sync iPod/iPad/iPhone with two computers
Although it isn't possible to sync an Apple device with two different libraries it is possible to sync with the same logical library from multiple computers. Each library has an internal ID and when iTunes connects to your iPod/iPad/iPhone it compares the local ID with the one the device normally syncs with. If they are the same you can go ahead and sync...
I have my library cloned to a small 1Tb USB drive which I can take between home & work. At either location I use SyncToy 2.1 to update the local copy with the external drive. Mac users should be able to find similar tools. I can open either of the local libraries or the one on the external drive and update the media content of my iPhone. The slight exception is Photos which normally connects to a specific folder on a specific machine, although that can easily be remapped to the current library if you create a "Photos" folder inside the iTunes Media folder so that syncing the iTunes folders keeps this up to date as well. I periodically sweep my library for new files & orphans with iTunes Folder Watch just in case I make changes at one location but then overwrite the library with a newer copy from the other. Again Mac users should be able to find similar tools.
As long as your media is organised within an iTunes Music or Tunes Media folder, in turn held inside the main iTunes folder that has your library files (whether or not you let iTunes keep the media folder organised) each library can access items at the same relative path from the library folder so the library can be at different drives/paths on different machines. This solution ensures I always have adequate backups of my library and I can update my devices whenever I can connect to the same build of iTunes.
When working with an iPhone earlier builds of iTunes would remove any file not physically present in the local library, even if there was an entry for it, making manual management practically redundant on the iPhone. This behaviour has been changed but it will still only permit manual management with a library that has the correct internal ID. If you don't want to sync your library between machines on a regular basis just copy the iTunes Library.itl file from the current "home" machine to any other you want to use, then clean out the library entries and import the local content you have on that box.

  • I can't use the webcam with iChat

    Hi all,
    The problem is:
I can speak using the video with a person who is in Barcelona but I can't speak with another who's in London. My other partner, whos's in Barcelona, can't speak with him (I'm in Spain too). So the problem it's not from our system, it's from him. What could be the problem?
He's using a broadband Internet conexion and a router. Could be a problem with the ports?
That person who's in London can't speak with other people who's from his country.

    Hi Oleguer,
I need this sort of info
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=506836
This list are some of the "normal" devices out there
    http://portforward.com/routers.htm
I was wondering if you had a Thomson Alcatel Speedtouch modem/router combined device as theses are fairly popular on the Continent. They are also popular in Australia.
The main problem when one person can not contact anybody is that they have not set up their Mac or their connection devices to alow iChat access to the internet.
The second most common problem is that people use Port Forwrding or other NAT based port openings like DMZ or Port Triggering and there is conflict with the way their Buddies device is doing NAT.
    http://www.ralphjohnsuk.dsl.pipex.com/page15.html#CertainBuddy
For this reason we suggest using UPnP where possible.
The latest issue is that some newer modem and wireless routers that do MIMO or are called Pre-N devices are not liked by iChat
MIMO stands for Multi In - Multi Out. The device my have more than one ariel to produce better wireless cover
Pre- N are wireless devices attempting to predict the next stage in Wireless protocols. Currently we have 802.11b and 802.11g
    He should start here http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=406147
And here http://www.ralphjohnsuk.dsl.pipex.com/page16.html to see if he has set things up and eliminate possible problems (particularly updating from Panther.
