  • Current Period" attribute for Variants not working correctly

    Hi Expert,
Pls i need your advice on the issue screenshot below.
When creating variants, a dynamic screen selection can be chosen for “Current Period” that will pre-populate begin and end dates. The problem is that, this attribute gives calendar month dates, not our company accounting period dates i.e. 4-4-5.
    Can this be corrected?
I have an option to create the fiscal year variant to fix the problem but am not sure on how to go about that.
    Pls advice.
    Regards
    Femmy John.

    Hi Marssel,
Thank you for the quick respond.
Kindly explain to me the importance of using this field period and execute same setup?
will this populate our company accounting period dates i.e. 4-4-5.
I just want to get the fact right before going to the customer.
    Regards
    Femmy John

Lightroom serial numbers are already multi-platform. They work on Windows and/or Macs.

  • Anywhere know where i can get windows 7 for bootcamp for cheap

i want to game. know where i can get windows 7 for cheap

Some games work fine in Virtualbox, which itself would save money since there is less risk of losing data than installing Boot Camp.  Regardless before you install anything backing up is essential.   Many games are available for the Mac through CrossOver which itself is cheaper than a fully licensed Windows.  See my FAQ * http://www.macmaps.com/macgamepages.html
Lastly, what country are you from?  The cost of Windows varies worldwide.

  • New disk for TM backups

I am replacing my current 500Gb disk for backups through TM with a 1Tb disk.
Can I just copy the 500Gb disk on the 1Tb disk before I configure TM for using the 1Tb disk so that I don't loose my previous backups and just continue with incremental backups?

you can copy the old backups to the new drive but don't do it using finder. clone the old TM drive to the new one using either Superduper or the restore tab in Disk Utility.

  • The Elements 12 Mac disk works fin - I also have a Dell, and the Windows disk will not run at all, sounds like it's grinding, and is almost impossible to remove from the hard drive.  I cannot find any place to tell me who to CALL to ask for a replacement!

    Hi Samcat,
You can use a download instead of the disk as an alternative: Adobe - Download free trial version Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 | Adobe you can license with your serial
Please test the disk in another windows machine to check if it's caused by the drive or the disk. If you tested with 2 drives please start a support case, i assume Adobe will only provide downloads at this point. They are the same as the trials. If you still need a disk you can burn the trial to a disk as a backup disk. Good luck!

  • Unable to open windows using boot camp.  Get message "The bless tool was unable to set the current boot disk."  Any thoughts, Thank you.

Unable to open windows using boot camp.  Get message "The bless tool was unable to set the current boot disk."   I am using an Imac , Lion operating system, and Windows 7.  It worked a few days ago.  Any thoughts, Thank you.

Note that nowhere in the Boot Camp instructions does it tell you to use Disk Utility to format the Windows partition. The Boot Camp Assistant program creates the partition & sets the +partition scheme info+ of the disk as appropriate for the Windows installer but the Windows installer itself is responsible for formatting the new partition with the appropriate +file system scheme+ (NTFS for Windows 7).
If you follow the instructions in the Boot Camp Installation & Setup Guide to the letter you should have no problems installing Windows.

  • Windows XP recovery Disk for Install

I have a Windows CP home Edition Disk that came with my Enpower PC but I want to install boot camp on my mac. I do not rly have the money to buy XP or Vista so I want to know if this disk will work or will it think this is an enpower machine and just blow up?

Hi Ranlif and welcome to Discussions,
Windows Recovery discs don't work with Boot Camp.
BootCamp needs a "single full-install Windows installation disc. Service pack 2 is required for Windows XP installations."
Such recovery discs also usually only work with the computer they originally came with.
    Sorry
    Stefan

  • I bought an external hard drive for backups to use with Time Machine, but however when I try to connect it with the other windows laptop it doesn't work ? intact it doesn't work on any other device except my MAC ?

I bought an external hard drive for backups to use with Time Machine, but however when I try to connect it with the other windows laptop it doesn't work ? intact it doesn't work on any other device except my MAC ?

    Do not worry about it.
Time Machine needs that your external drive is formatted in HFS+, or better known as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)". This filesystem is used by Apple on Macs and Windows cannot read or write drives formatted with this filesystem, being this the reason why all your devices do not read the external drive except your Mac.
You can only use your external drive to make Time Machine drives. If you store anything different, you may damage the Time Machine structure, so it is better not to use it as a drive to store other data. Instead, get another external drive to do it or create a second partition on the external drive formatted in FAT32 by using Disk Utility > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU3.html FAT32 can be read by Windows PCs

  • Disk Utility is not working for me.

I have had a nightmare trying to install a Boot Camp partition on my brand new 27" iMac with 3TB Fusion Drive and running 10.8.4.
When trying to use Boot Camp Assistant, it would start the partition, then not finish.  I quit BCA, tried repairing both the partition and the disk, that didn't help either.  So I went into Disk Utility to create a new partition with no file system on it, assuming I could just use Boot Camp Assistant to format it when the partition was created.  It would start, but not finish.  I tried Repairing the disk and the partition, neither helped.
So I booted with CMD+R, launched Disk Utility, and tried to create a 500GB empty partition.  It started and just never quit, so I CMD+Q, got out of it, went back to Disk Utility, I found that I now have a 1.22TB empty partition and a 1.78TB Mac Partition.  This is probably my own fault, I should have just let it run, but after 20 minutes, it wasn't moving.
I figured that would work okay, so I tried installing with BCA, but found it's looking for an HFS+ partition to resize and wouldn't work with an empty partition, so I figured I'd just format the empty partition as HFS+ and install with BCA.  Unfortunately, I can't get Disk Utility to format the partition.  I select the empty space, it puts a white block on it like normal titled Untitled 2, I select Mac OS Extended (Journaled), hit apply, something flashes very briefly over the "capacity" line, and then nothing happens.  Hit revert and it shows up with the Macintosh HD partition and the empty partition.  No matter what format I choose, nothing happens.  If I try to exit, it tells me that changes have not been saved.
I'm trying to just extend the Mac partition, but the resizing option is not available.  I can't drag it to cover the Free Space partition, I can't type in the Size to resize it by number, I can't do anything.  I've tried to repair the disk and the partition, nothing happens.  I can't reclaim the space no matter what I do.
At this point, all I want to do is recover the entire space of the hard drive for Mac OS.  I'll try again with Boot Camp Assistant after Apple works the kinks out.
    Any help would be appreciated.

The Boot Camp Assistant in 10.8.4 should be able to partition your 3TB+ drive so you can have Windows. If Disk Utility is not working then your disk is corrupt. Backup all your data using Time Machine. Erase the volume and restore from Time Machine backup. You can use the ‘OS X Recovery Disk Assistant’ (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1433). Open Recovery Disk Assistant and follow the on screen instructions to create a Recovery HD on the external drive. When the Recovery Disk Assistant completes, the partition will not be visible in the Finder. To access the external Recovery HD, connect the drive, then restart the computer and hold the Option key. Select Recovery HD from the Startup Manager. You would need to re-install Mountain Lion up to 10.8.4.  Then ran Boot Camp Assistant and then install Windows.   Once you have confirmed that Windows is running then open up Migration Assistant (in the utilities folder) and migrate your Time Machine backup back on to the hard drive.

  • No startup disk for windows in preferences on Mac

I re-installed Snow Leopard, an already had a Boot Camp partition for WinXP Home SP3. All went fine but...
There's no startup disk icon in startup disk options on the Mac.
Sometimes I hold down option key to chose Mac or Windows and it's fine, bit if I boot to windows, the next time it auto boots to windows everytime, even with key held in. I then, in windows, chose boot camp icon in taskbar and chose "restart in Mac OSX" and it does.. Now however it boots to Mac everytime!
I didn't do a re-install of the boot camp partition, as was all fine installation wise after I did with Snow Leopard.
    Anyone help please
    Cheers

Still having bother with this, can anyone help please.
The Windows disk doesnt show up in Mac OS on "startup disk preference", when in windows boot camp, both the Mac OSX and Windows partition show up.
Sometimes if I boot into Mac, I then cant boot into Windows via the "option key", if I've been in Windows, I cannot get to Mac with option key, have to goto boot camp options and "restart in Mac OSX"
So something is messed up, can anyone help please? I use Mac and its fine, but kids use Windows, and when I'm not in it doesnt work, so its difficult to explain over phone.
I have a wireless keyboard and it seems it doesnt switch on when booting up iMac, so the option key isnt detected - again randomly
    cheers

  • My macbook pro hard drive died.  I only have a windows hard drive and an old powerbook G4 which of course you can't use to create a boot disk for my macbook.  How can I solve this?

I can't get app store on my old power book to download OS X,  My macbook pro hard drive died and all I have is a windows hard drive, still has windows os  on it, a 500 Gb USB drive and this power book.  How can I get my macbook back up without spending money?  Thanks

And what happens if the OPs Mac is of a newer version that came with a version of Snow Leopard above the 10.6.3 version that is on that Retail, meant for Upgrade, disc? Like if it came with 10.6.4/.5/.6/.7? That disc you linked to would not work.
He needs to contact Apple and get a replacement set of Original System Reinstall Discs. That is the only way he can be assured it will work and he would also get the iLife apps which he wouldn't buying that DVD disc you linked to.

The Snow Leopard DVD is $20 from Apple. You'll just have to wait a few days. BTW this is a full installer that works with any model computer that can run SL. Apple used to ship recovery/installation disks that were tied to specific computer models so that a 15" MBP installer disk coudn't be used on a 13" MBP computer. So you need either full installer or the recovery disks for your specific model.
And BTW, I have a 2009 13" MBP w/8GB RAM that is running Mavericks. With a 5400 RPM drive I used to experience a bit of beach balling (think hour glassing) but an SSD has given it new life. It feels now slower than the newest MBPs - it obviously benchmarks considerably slower but in everyday use it doesn't feel like a 4 1/2 year old computer at all.
